by Daws, Amy

Fucking hell, this woman is infuriating, and maddening, and brilliant, and stubborn, and all of it turns me the fuck on. With a deep breath in, I slap the side railing and jog out after her, moving past her before she reaches my truck. I grab my keys out of my pocket and hold out the one that unlocks my front door. Dropping to my knees in the grass, I outstretch my hands and say, “Megan Allison Hudson, will you do me the honor of moving in with me because I’m so fucking in love with you that I’m starting to believe in the fairy-tale happily ever after.”

She laughs at my declaration, her eyes shining with pride as she clutches her hands to her chest. She reaches out and takes my keys. “It took you long enough!”

I press my hands to my thighs and stand, eyeing her skeptically. “Were you really going to buy this house?”

“Of course I was,” she snaps back, while fingering my key like it’s a diamond ring. “Miles and Kate go at it like rabbits, and no sister should have to hear that.”

“Then why wouldn’t you just talk to me about moving in to my place?”

Her blue eyes flash with shock. “Are you kidding me? This is your first relationship…I’m not going to be the one scaring you off with big moves here. And it was so cute how you got down on your knees to ask me!” she gushes excitedly, clutching the key to her chest.

I shake my head at her. “But I asked you inside first.”

She tips her chin up, a proud smirk playing on her lips. “That’s not how I’m going to retell this story to our grandkids.”

She winks, and I can’t help but smile at her. God, she’s cute when she’s crazy. I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her in close. “And what were our grandkids names again?”

  “Finnigan and Lacey.”

I purse my lips and nod. “As long as we can teach them to fish, I like this story.”

Ahhh, my fourteenth book! How crazy is that? This book is especially fun to complete because I’ve just completed my one-year mark of being a full-time author, and I feel so incredibly grateful to be home for my kid every day after school and still doing my dream job.

I have many people to thank for all their incredible help with bringing this story together. My alpha reader, Jennifer. Girl…thank you so much for hand holding me on this one. I completely love brainstorming and giggling with you! Jane Ashley Converse…you were a clutch girl! Not only did you give me your awesome outdoorsy knowledge but your thoughtful notes were everything I needed!

Beth…oh my sweet Beth. You are my compass of suckage. If you say the book is good, I know it is because you never accept subpar work from me. Thank you! Lydia Rella: My straight shooter! You tell it like it is and I love and need you in my life. You’re the Jack to my Rose, and I’ll never let go! Franci! Thanks for your mad beta skills and for tolerating my short deadlines!

Thank you to my PAs, Julia and Tiffany, for tolerating my neediness. You girls are superwomen! Thanks to my editor, Jenny Sims, for your awesome attention to detail and super cat speed!

To Brother Joseph Yoder aka my hubby…thanks for not really being my brother but letting me call you that because your Amish beard apparently brings out weird comedy in me. You put the kid to bed, and you don’t freak out when I get tunnel vision with every single book, so thank you.

Lorelei…oh sweet Lolo. My six-year-old partner in crime. I finished my book and now we’re going to Disney World! (no really, I finished this book within a week of our family vacation to Disney). If that doesn’t show you that I love you, then I don’t know what will.

And finally, to my six angel babies up above, I wish you were coming with us to Disney, but I promise that my daily smiles will be for you.

Amy Daws is an Amazon Top 25 bestselling author of sexy, contemporary romance novels. She enjoys writing love stories that take place in America, as well as across the pond in London; especially about those footy-playing Harris Brothers of hers. When Amy is not writing in a tire shop waiting room, she’s watching Gilmore Girls, or singing karaoke in the living room with her daughter while Daddy smiles awkwardly from a distance.
