Becoming His Little One Page 4

by Isabella Olivia Ellis

Parking her car directly parallel to the front of his home, she sat outside much like she had the first night they met in person. Much closer to the preferred style of his OE home, Dave's new house was a faux log cabin. Longer than it was wide, with two floors and a cheerful hunter green door, it just waiting for her knock.

Carolyn heaved a few deep breaths, then swung open her car door and headed for his house. The heels she had changed into at the last gas station she fueled up at clicked conspicuously across the concrete sidewalk leading to his door. The noise seemed amplified to her, as though every single person on the street would come out of their homes to witness her showing up at her former lover's door to declare her love to him.

Carolyn pushed the doorbell and waited.

When the door opened, Dave squinted into the sun, not noticing her at first. His dirt-spattered jeans and rolled up shirtsleeves suggested he had just come in from his backyard. Confusion showed in his expression.

I suppose it isn't every day that someone drives over sixteen hours to show up unannounced at your doorstep.

"Carolyn?" he asked, clearly in disbelief. "Wow, what are you doing here? Come here." He reached for her shoulder and pulled her in for a hug, neither one caring about the questionable cleanliness of his attire.

They stood there in each other's arms for several moments, until Carolyn started crying.

Dave pulled slightly away from her to look down at her face. He waited patiently for her to speak.

"I just want to be with you. I don't care if it's scary or new to me or kind of crazy."

He pulled her inside and into the living room, then kissed her forehead. "I'm glad you came. Because that's what I want, too. It’s what I've wanted since we met. Are you sure about this?"

Carolyn answered with far more confidence than she had ever felt. “Yes, I want this. I want to be with you. I love you.”

"And I love you, Little One. Let's get you inside."
