Jessi licked her lips, grinning up at him, as she reached to undo his pants and release his ready member. Locking eyes with him, she grasped him, lowering her face and using her tongue to flick at the pearl of his essence already waiting for her.

Judd leaned his head back and groaned. Encouraged by his response, she ran her tongue lazily around the head as she used her fingers and thumb to massage his length. More precum appeared, and greedily, she lapped it up, before sheathing her teeth with her lips and taking in as much of him as she could.

“Oh, Angel, yes,” Judd breathed, gripping the arms of the chair.

Pleased by her effect on him, Jessi adjusted her movements, bobbing her head up and down, cheeks hollowed as she applied steady suction. She wrapped her arms around his legs to gain leverage, increasing her tempo.

Judd’s legs stiffened slightly and his already impressive girth hardened against her tongue just before he exploded, jets of cum shooting against the back of her throat. Jessi swallowed hungrily, devouring every drop of his essence, even licking him clean. Then she sat back on her heels, beaming up at him with a self-satisfied smirk.

When Judd looked down at her, he had to laugh. “Pretty pleased with yourself, aren’t you?”

Her eyes twinkled. “Yep. I kind of am.”

“Help me with my clothes, Angel.”

While Judd lifted slightly off the chair, Jessi tugged his pants the rest of the way off. Leaning forward, he pulled the shirt off over his head without unbuttoning it. Tossing it aside, he patted his thigh and grinned. “Come join me.”

Grinning, Jessi straddled him, knees resting on either side of him on the chair cushion. Judd gripped her ass, squeezing her cheeks as he pulled her closer into him. Lightly Jessi ran her fingers through his hair as she peered deeply into his eyes. Then, leaning forward, she captured his lower lip between hers, sucking sensuously. Between her thighs, she felt his spent cock come back to life, and as she kissed him, she ground her pussy against him.

“Do you feel what you do to me, Jessi? You always make me want more,” he murmured against her lips.

“Then take more,” she responded, shifting slightly to place him at her entrance.

He moved his hands to her hips, and thrust up, entering her suddenly, and causing her to gasp. “I believe I will.”

Jessi linked her fingers behind his neck and leaned in to nip at his jawline. “I want to kiss you while you fuck me,” she whispered just before pressing her lips to his, devouring his lips, claiming his tongue.

Judd lifted them both off the cushion with his thrusts, and Jessi broke off the kiss to moan. “Oh, my God...”

“We’re coming together, Angel, you and me. Let’s do it,” he directed through gritted teeth. Jessi let go, allowing her release to thunder over her. Judd raised up and stilled, buried to the root in Jessi, his balls twitching as he came for a second time.

As the sensory rush receded, he lowered himself back onto the cushion, remaining inside Jessi. She leaned forward and rested her head on his sweat-beaded shoulder. She lightly kissed the side of his neck.

Judd sighed contentedly. “I love you, Jessi,” he whispered.

He felt her stiffen, and she sat up to look him in the eye, blinking.

He smiled tenderly. “I love you, Jessi,” he repeated. “I guess I’ve known it for a while, but I want to tell you. Need to tell you. I love you.”

Jessi felt the sting of threatened tears. “I love you, too. I just...” Her voice cracked. “Well, I didn’t want to say it, in case that’s not what you were thinking, but...”

Judd cupped her cheek in his hand, lightly brushing her lips with his thumb. “It’s not what I’m thinking.” He took her hand and placed it, palm down, on his chest. “It’s what I feel. It’s a heart thing.”

Jessi nodded solemnly. “Yeah. A heart thing.” A lone tear rolled down her cheek, and Judd frowned.

“Where does the tear come from, Jessi?” His voice was quiet, tender.

“I don’t know,” she began, swiping at her cheek. “I just...” she kissed his jaw. “I didn’t think I could ever feel that way for anyone again.” She kissed him again. “But then, here you are, and I just feel this overwhelming sense of love.”

Judd smiled, shaking his head gently. “It’s perfect, you know that, right? Out of all the people on the planet, you and I were meant to be together.”

She nodded. “And I love you.”

“And I love you.” His smile was warm. “It’s perfect!” he repeated.

An hour later, following a sensual shower and another round of lovemaking, they lay together, Judd’s arm around Jessi, her head resting on his shoulder. Aware of the shift in their relationship, neither slept, though they were quiet, each companionably aware of their own thoughts.

Lightly, Jessi toyed with the smattering of hair dusting his chest, and Judd quietly delighted in the little tickles from her eyelashes when she blinked. He pressed a light kiss to the hair on the top of her head.

“Tell me something, Jessi. What’s your fantasy?”

  “What?” she asked sleepily.

“Your sexual fantasy. Something you’ve never done, but you find arousing.”

He felt her grimace against his chest. “Fantasy? I don’t know.”

He hugged her gently to his side. “You know, what really turns you on?” he urged softly. “Maybe something you’ve seen in a movie or read somewhere?”

She huffed, and he smiled to himself. “I don’t know. What’s your fantasy?”

“Angel, if there’s anything I’ve ever fantasized about, I’ve already done it.”

Jessi pushed up, resting her chin on his chest. “Like what?”

Judd shrugged lightly. “Like lots of things.”

Her brow wrinkled. “Two women at once.”

  “Done it.”

“Really?” Jessi’s eyes widened as she considered this for a moment. “Did you like it?”

  “Yes.”

“Do you want to do it again?”

“It would depend on the situation.” He watched her steadily.

“How about sex in a public place?”

  “Done it.”

“Sheesh.” Jessi rested her head again.

“Don’t think I didn’t notice that you changed the subject, Angel,” he chuckled. “I want to know what turns you on. You read all those steamy novels on your tablet. Which scenes make you nice and wet?”

Judd felt the breath she blew out. “I don’t know.” She used her finger to draw an aimless pattern on his chest. “I guess the ménage scenes are kind of hot.”

His cock was suddenly paying attention to the conversation. “Ménage. So if a woman joined us, that would be arousing.”

Jessi shook her head. “Not a woman.”

  Judd’s eyes widened. “A man?”

Sheepishly, Jessi turned her head to look at him, chin resting on his chest. “To be taken by two men at once? That’s hot.”

A slow smile curled the corner of his mouth, and he hugged her to himself. “Jessi, you constantly surprise me.”

She covered her face. “It’s bad, I know.”

“It’s not bad, it’s what you like. Not saying that it would ever happen, but I want to know your fantasies. I mean, it might, you never know. I just want to make you happy.”

“You make me very happy,” Jessi yawned, pressing a kiss to his collarbone.

Judd’s smile was satisfied. “You make me happier than I imagined was possible,” he murmured, brushing his lips against the top of her head.

  Chapter 37

Jessi checked her image in the mirror and smiled at what she saw. The trip to the Bahamas, and the following weekend’s paddle boarding excursion had left her with a healthy glow. Since Judd had mentioned that he liked her hair’s natural waves, she’d stopped bothering to straighten her auburn locks, leaving her hair looking healthier and younger. The purple tank top she wore swooped down to reveal a bit of cleavage and Judd’s day collar twinkled
against her skin in the light of the bathroom. White shorts and jeweled sandals completed her outfit.

She felt a twinge of nerves, and felt foolish about it. Judd was downstairs preparing ribs for the grill. Cara, without Trevor this time, and Adam were on their way, due to arrive any minute. Flights had been cheaper to Orlando, so Cara had flown there from Atlanta, offering to drive her younger brother down for a short weekend visit.

She met her own eyes in the reflection and sighed deeply. The occasion would be the first time she and Judd met her children as a couple, and she desperately wanted it to go well. She didn’t worry about Adam so much. He’d always been her cuddly love bug, easy-going and open to everyone. Cara was a harder read, opinionated and, at times, aloof. Cara’s and Judd’s first meeting hadn’t been what Jessi had hoped. Maybe the intervening time had given Cara a chance to get used to the idea of her mother meeting someone new.

With one final check in the mirror, Jessi headed downstairs. She paused at the foot of the stairs, enjoying the flutter in her stomach that was not nerves, as her lips curled into a private smile. Judd stood at the kitchen island adding seasoning to the rack of ribs he’d brought over this morning.

With his back to her, Jessi drank in the utter masculinity of his powerful shoulders, his forest green knit shirt clinging to each muscle, the way his torso narrowed to the waistband of his brown cargo shorts. Then there was the curve of his ass. God, she loved his shape.

“Are you going to keep staring at me, Angel, or are you going to come over and kiss me?”

“How did you know I was staring?” she laughed, crossing the distance between them, giving in to the temptation to caress his luscious behind with the flat of her hand.

“Because you’re crazy about me.” He winked, and she laughed again, tiptoeing up to kiss him. “You look beautiful, by the way.”

  “You’re looking pretty handsome yourself.”

He narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. “How are you doing?”

  Jessi shrugged lightly. “I’m great.”

His eyes narrowed further, followed by an arched eyebrow.

“Oh, for Pete’s sake. I’m fine, really. Just a little nervous, that’s all.” She paced to the opposite side of the island and stopped, facing him. “I want this to go well. I want them to be happy for us.”

“I know you do, Jessi. But at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is how we feel. You know that.”

She clasped her hands together and blew out a deep breath. “I know. I just...”

He smiled kindly. “You just dinner to go well.” Judd crossed to her and wrapped an arm around her, pulling her to his side, careful to keep his spice-covered hands away from her. “And it will. We’ll have a nice dinner with Adam and Cara. You’ll see. Then tomorrow, the three of you can spend time together.”

Jessi drew her eyebrows together, wrinkling her brow. “I wish you didn’t have to work this weekend.”

“I think,” said Judd as he headed to the sink to wash his hands, “that it’s perfect. We can have dinner tonight, then you have the rest of the weekend to do family things.”

“Cara mentioned bringing flowers to the cemetery.”

Judd nodded. “That’s a great idea.”

“I think it was a dig at me. She’s trying to make me feel guilty.” Jessi’s green eyes were large and round.

He watched her thoughtfully for a moment. “Don’t overthink it, Jessi. Be open to going with the flow, seeing where it leads.” Drying his hands on a blue kitchen towel, he returned to where she stood. “Just know,” he gently lifted her chin, “I always have your back.”

Smiling gratefully, Jessi leaned up on her tiptoes and kissed him. At the same moment, they heard the front door open, and Buddy, tail wagging excitedly, scurried to the foyer.

“Mom, we’re here!” Adam’s voice boomed, and Jessi was struck by the similarity to Graham’s voice.

She hurried to meet them. “Hi! Oh, I’m so glad to see you!” Jessi threw her arms around Adam, who picked her up and spun her around.

Cara stepped in right behind Adam. “Hi, Mommy,” she said, but her eyes were on Judd who’d followed Jessi to the front door.

“Hi, sweetie,” Jessi hugged her daughter. “Welcome home. You remember Judd.”

Immediately, Adam reached to shake Judd’s hand. “Yeah, we met before. How are you, man?”

Judd smiled warmly. “I’m great. How are you?” He turned to Cara, giving her the full-wattage Judd Farris smile. “Hello, Cara. How was the trip?”

“Oh, um, hi. Yes, the flight. Was fine.” Her speech was clipped as she struggled to appear smooth and in control. “Not too long from Atlanta, you know, but it was okay. And then the drive here.” She rolled her eyes. “We’d have been here sooner but there was a wreck on the Turnpike at Ft. Pierce. It was down to one lane for a bit, but anyway, we’re here now, so...”

Jessi suppressed a grin as she watched Cara turn bright pink and fumble through a response. I guess I’m not the only one who’s a sucker for Judd’s charm.

“You two go ahead and get your things upstairs. We’re doing ribs on the grill, but we can wait to start them until you’ve gotten settled.” Jessi kissed both Adam and Cara again and sent them on their way.

After they’d disappeared, she turned to Judd. He grasped his hands behind her waist and pulled her to himself, kissing her lightly. “That went well. Don’t you think?”

Jessi smiled. “It went very well. And thank you.”

  His eyes widened. “For what?”

“Just for...” She kissed his cheek. “Just for being you.”

“NO WAY!” ADAM LAUGHED. “My mom was diving with sharks in the Bahamas?”

“Well, I didn’t mean to. It just turned out that some sharks happened to be where we were diving.” Jessi pushed back from the outdoor table, still strewn with detritus from dinner, and crossed her legs, taking a sip of her wine. “If I had known, I don’t think you could have gotten me in the water.”

Judd took a long pull from his Blue Moon and laughed. “Don’t let her fool you. Your mom’s a badass.”

Adam and Judd went on to compare notes on diving various locations around the Caribbean. Jessi looked to Cara who sat quietly observing the scene. She reached over and patted her daughter’s hand. “How’s work, sweetie?” Jessi asked quietly.

Cara dragged her eyes away from Judd and Adam. “Oh, you know,” she sighed, “it’s okay. I’m a little bored with weather all the time, though. I’ve sort of started looking at postings for producer positions in news.”

“Really? I thought you were happy where you are.”

Cara shrugged. “I don’t know. I think I’d like to write some more exciting stories. In-depth investigations, hard news, politics, that sort of thing. And moving on from Atlanta wouldn’t suck.”

Jessi pursed her lips. “What does Trevor think about moving?”

Cara slugged back the remainder of her glass of wine. “Doesn’t matter what Trevor thinks. We broke up a couple of weeks ago.”

Jessi glanced sideways at the men who were engrossed in the details of Adam’s most recent dive adventure. Her voice was soft. “Come on inside where we can talk.”

She stood and gathered as many of the dishes as she could carry. “We’re on clean-up detail tonight, gentlemen. We’ll be back out shortly with dessert.”

Judd raised his eyebrows questioningly, but Jessi just winked. He didn’t miss the tightness around her mouth, or the concerned glint in her eyes. He shook his head again at the woman he loved, and at her inability to hide her thoughts. Or maybe it was just him, maybe he was just that in tune with Jessi.

He sighed and returned his focus to Adam. Whatever it was, he was sure she’d confide in him later.

In the kitchen, Jessi and Cara put the dishes in the sink. “Come here, hon,” Jessi said, taking her daughter’s hand. She grabbed the remainder of the wine and their glasses and headed into the den. Bypassing Sir’s chair, she made a beeline f
or the love seat and patted the cushion beside her. Refilling Cara’s glass, she handed it to her.

  “Now start at the beginning.”

Cara sighed, then took a gulp of wine. Her eyes were dull, her voice, monotone. “There’s not that much to tell. Trevor started acting kind of distant. I kept asking him what was wrong, and he finally said that I overpowered him.” She rolled her eyes. “I don’t even know what that means.”

Jessi had an inkling, but she kept her thoughts to herself. “I’m so sorry, honey. I know you really liked Trevor.” She refilled Cara’s glass. A well-lubricated Cara was a cooperative Cara. “So maybe moving on is a good idea. I always thought dating someone from work was risky.”

Cara chewed her lip. “You’re probably right. Anyway, it’s time for a change. I’ll keep looking for interesting job postings.”

The pair returned to the kitchen to clean up from dinner. Jessi rinsed the dishes, handing them to Cara to put into the dishwasher.

Cara’s question blindsided her. “Did you love Dad?”

Jessi dropped the salad plate she’d been rinsing and it shattered in the bottom of the sink. “Dammit!” she cursed under her breath.

  Cara gazed at her, unblinking.

“Of course I loved your father. I loved him very much. Why do you ask?”

Cara shrugged, aiming for nonchalance. “I don’t know. You just seem to be all about Judd now, so I had to wonder.”

“Cara,” Jessi said, taking both of her daughter’s hands in her own. “I loved your dad with all my heart. I was devastated when he died.”

“Yeah, I can tell. Scuba diving trips to the Bahamas, dating a younger guy. When do you find time to work?”

She glanced at Judd and Adam, laughing together outside on the pool deck. Then she turned back to her daughter, speaking with quiet intensity. “I had no thought of meeting anyone. But then, there was Judd. Who, yes, happens to be five years younger than me. And he’s been so good to me. Good for me, if you want to know the truth.”

“You love him.” Cara’s voice was barely above a whisper.
