She linked her arm with Sidia’s. “Let’s head back in. We’ll grab Jaeda and talk some more. Really talk. I’ll tell you all about the last five years with Lawrence.”
Sidia nodded. “Maybe, our mates could join this time. They’re family now. All the Holloways are.”
“You’re right,” Xandra agreed. “They are.”
“By the way,” Koby added, coming up beside Sidia. “Jensen called looking for the two of you.”
“Did he find something?” Declan demanded, and Xandra felt her mate’s palm brush along her spine.
“Nothing to worry about,” Koby assured them then spoke directly to Xandra. “He said your blood showed no alterations from the drug. He thinks it will continue to dilute in your system. You should be able to shift in no time.”
“That’s great news,” Xandra said, and Declan nodded in agreement.
“I’m sure he’ll go over everything in more detail when he sees you,” Koby added.
She should have thought to check in with Jensen Holloway before she’d left, but at that moment, she hadn’t cared one way or another. She’d only been thinking about revenge. She’d be lying if she tried to convince herself the need for revenge didn’t still fuel her. It would until Lawrence was dead, until all those responsible were dead. The only difference was that now it was tempered by something else, by someone else.
“I was planning to call him later,” Declan admitted. “Now, we can go see him again before we leave.”
“In the morning,” Xandra suggested.
“Sounds like a plan,” Declan said.
“I’m going to fill in Laramie on the change of plans,” Koby said as they walked. “Why don’t you go get Jaeda and Holt then we’ll all meet in the kitchen? I can’t be the only one hungry.”
“You’re always hungry,” Sidia replied, and Xandra felt scorched by the heat between the two.
“For you,” Koby said and grabbed Sidia, tossing her over his shoulder. Her sister shrieked playfully then giggled as Koby jogged off ahead of them with her. Xandra couldn’t help but to smile.
“I could get used to seeing that,” Declan murmured, stopping her and leaning down to claim a kiss. She clutched his broad shoulders and panted for breath by the time he broke away.
“I could get used to that,” she growled.
His chest rumbled, and he jerked her back to him, pulling her onto her tiptoes as he consumed her. His hands cupped her ass, lifting her into the bulge of his cock. She couldn’t believe she’d ever thought it would be possible to walk away from this, from him.
