One's True Love Page 2

Kailee nodded and pressed the keys once more. A slight click signaled the door was unlocked and Michelle turned the handle revealing the room.

“I was wondering … why do they all live here?” Kailee questioned

“Ah… well Trenton will explain that later” Michelle hurried out as she stepped into the room. The walls were a pale cream color with a bright royal blue comforter and curtains which hung from the ceiling to the floor next to large French doors leading to a huge porch. “There is a bathroom over there and you both have your own walk in closet. Feel free to look around it is your room too now after all.” Michelle smiled as she walked out the door.

After searching the room for her bag Kailee finally gave up and fell onto the large sofa in front of the TV. She searched until she found something which seemed even remotely interesting and curled up with a soft fuzzy blanket which was lying on the couch.

She didn’t realize she had fallen asleep until someone came into the room. “Hey…. ah….excuse me.” Kailee just groaned.

Trenton smiled at how beautiful she was and how cute she was when she slept. He tried again this time he gently drummed his fingers on her shoulder. He grinned to himself as he began to feel the electricity bloom between his fingers and Kailee’s shoulder.

“Kailee.” he said louder this time.

Her eyes fluttered open. “Huh?” she mumbled.

“Sweetheart would you like to go to bed?” Trenton asked.

“I couldn’t find my bag.” She murmured sleepily.

Trenton walked away and returned with a long tee shirt. “Here you can wear this for tonight.” He smiled at the thought of her wearing his clothes as he handed them to her.

Kailee clumsily slid of the couch almost falling until a reassuring strong arm shot out in front of her. “Hey you alright?” He questioned slightly worried.

“Yeah, I’m just tired. Thanks.” Kailee mumbled. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and looked up through her lashes. “You must be Trenton.” She yawned.

“Yes.” Trenton smiled. “I am and you must be my beautiful fiancé, Kailee.” His words were more of a simple statement than an actual question and Kailee nodded sheepishly.

“Here, let me help you.” Trenton smiled as he swooped her body up and carried her over to the bed.

  “Ah… I … don’t … I …” Kailee stuttered and tried to squirm away from him.

“Relax, I just want to get to know you.” Trenton chuckled as he gently placed her on the bed.

She watched as Trenton took off his shirt and jeans leaving him only in boxers. Her eyes went wide as she stared, blushing profusely.

“What?” Trenton questioned with a small grin on his face his bright hazel colored eyes stared at her.

  “Uh…”

“I can’t sleep in boxers?” Trenton grumbled then slid under the covers next to Kailee.

They sat next to each other for a few moments completely in silence before either managed a word. “So…” Kailee said thinking of something to say. “How old are you?” She thought he was older than her for sure but how old she couldn’t guess.

“I will be twenty-one shortly.” Trenton replied simply.

“Why would you want to marry me? Why choose me?” Kailee questioned she couldn’t understand the situation, nobody really explained anything to her as to why this was all happening and she hoped he could spread some light on the situation.

“Well….” Trenton began he was trying to think of a nice way to say this was a birthday present and a pack treaty thing all together but couldn’t find words that would make it seem just right. “Uh… there are some things you don’t know about your family and mine.” He decided this wasn’t the best time to spill everything.

“Humph” Kailee sighed heavily and scooted down into the warmth of the blankets. “Goodnight.” she grumbled.

“Ah… Goodnight.” Trenton replied he knew she would not like his answer but didn’t expect her to give up so easily on the questions.

  Chapter

  Five

Kailee felt a cold chill go through her causing her to wake from her slumber. 2:00 am. She groaned then decided she would get up and walk to the bathroom. It would be the perfect opportunity to run that was until she turned toward where Trenton had laid next to her and was shocked. He was gone. Where would he go so early in the morning?

Kailee stumbled into the bathroom when she was finished she looked in the mirror. She had pulled on the shirt that Trenton had offered her stupidly and now… she had to change back into the dress. Kailee moseyed over to the couch where she had left the dress and lifted Trenton’s shirt from her body before carefully tugging the dress over her head careful not to tug on its delicate stitching. She was tired but if she was going to run… it had to be when no one was expecting it. If nothing else she would get a drink before returning to bed if Trenton happened to spot her.

Kailee slipped quietly out the bedroom door then down the stairs. Forget getting her things she thought, if she could escape and make it to her friend Jade’s house… she would have clothing for her. The house was surprisingly quiet for the amount of people she had noticed earlier. She patted quietly into the kitchen, no one in sight. Hmm she thought this couldn’t be more perfect.

Kailee turned and took one last look at the kitchen and the rooms behind it before turning toward the slider door and pulling it open. It was unlocked. She thought for a moment about just going back up to bed then deciding to take her chances she took a slow step onto the cool cement porch leading to the back yard.

Kailee tip toed from the house … if only she could make it to the trees she was sure she would be home free. She would follow the driveway back toward a town and then… She froze her thoughts whirling in another direction. Something moved.

A pair of bright hazel colored eyes, popped into her line of sight. She just couldn’t place them but they were familiar. The eyes were just on the other side of a pool in the back yard which consequently was the woods which were part of her grand plan.

The eyes were still there staring and watching her intently. It looked like they were pleading her to come to them. She slowly made her way around the pool every step careful and precise. The eyes still watched her every move. Maybe she could move toward the far side of the property before entering the woods and the eyes… would stay where they were.

When she was almost close enough to touch the tree line she continued toward the far side of the yard. Whatever held those eyes, it moved. Her brow furrowed and she half frowned. She looked around and decided it was now or never then took a step into the woods. Again she seen the gorgeous hazel eyes but this time she saw the figure that held them and she gasped. Standing only a mere feet from her stood a huge black wolf. Kailee stumbled backward as she tried to escape but found herself bumping into a tree. The wolf carefully took a step forward.

“Oh god. Please don’t eat me” she pleaded with the creature. It was huge; she had never imagined a wolf could get so big. Coming from a place where she had only seen wolves in picture books and movies Kailee didn’t know quite what to think of the wolf’s size. This wolf was standing almost to her full height. It must be six foot at the back. She slid down the tree as silent tears slid down her cheek. How could she be so stupid to wander into the woods alone and at night time for peats sake?

The wolf continued to advance on her and when it got so close she could reach out to it she closed her eyes in fear. She was startled and opened her eyes when a big slobbery tongue licked her face and the wolf’s big head nuzzled her.

“Oh my god.” She squeaked as the realization hit her this wolf was so close. Shakily she lifted her hand and petted the wolf’s giant head. Her touch was gentle and the wolf purred for some reason almost like a cat would. She didn’t know a wolf could purr too but to prove her wrong the deep rumbling purring wolf pressed his body into her almost like a hug. She laughed as the vibrations tickled through her.

The wolf lay down and curled close t
o Kailee; it placed its head on her thigh. She smiled, she loves animals and always had a pet well… until she moved here, and maybe by some weird twisted fate she can now have a giant wolf pet in the forest. She laughed at her crazy thought.

A branch snapped further in the forest and the wolf’s ears perked up. He quickly jumped to his feet growling at the dark forest. Kailee couldn’t believe it when a whole pack of wolves stepped out of the trees they were all different colors of browns, grays, whites, and blacks. They stared at the big black wolf in front of Kailee. It was almost like they were talking amongst themselves. One wolf whimpered and then another growled menacingly. The big black wolf growled and snapped back and as quickly as it started it ended. The pack retreated back into the forest and the big black wolf turned around and licked Kailee’s face then nudged her to stand.

Standing up Kailee petted the wolf’s head again. It nudged her again pushing her towards the house. “Goodnight, big boy.” Kailee cooed as she rubbed his muzzle. Kailee turned away from the wolf and walked back toward the house more quickly than she had first came.

When she turned around and the wolf was there starring at her until she closed the door then he turned around and ran. Turning around Kailee smiled to herself and sighed. Her smile immediately died when she saw a scowling figure in front of her.

“What do you think you’re doing young lady?” scolded Michelle.

“Uh…” She thought for a moment could she tell Michelle what she saw or would she think she was crazy. She decided she would try and lie her way out of it. “I … was just walking around.” She said with a nervous smile.

“I don’t think that is what you were doing.” Michelle frowned. “Now are you going to tell me or are you going to make me angrier. I am a mother of three children and I have been in around many others I know when I hear a lie.” She scolded.

“Sorry. I uh… was just … I seen a pair of eye just into the woods and they were just so familiar I had to go and see.” She blabbered on mindlessly. Michelle’s face softened slightly. Kailee was relieved that Michelle believed that part of the story. She didn’t want to tell her she had originally planned on running away.

“And. What did they belong to?” Michelle pried.

“Uh…a …wolf.” Kailee cringed slightly as she said the word hoping that Michelle wouldn’t continue to scold her and think she was crazy.

“Oh really and what color was it.” She seemed really too interested. Kailee thought.

“It was black and man was it huge and it was…. amazing” she whispered dreamily.

“Oh . I see.” Michelle smiled. What was she smiling about? Kailee frowned. “Well it’s best if you stay inside at night unless Trenton is with you.” Michelle giggled. The door opened from behind her revealing a shirtless Trenton only in basketball shorts.

Oh my god! Kailee screamed in her head to herself. Trenton’s attractive body just got hotter; he was all muscle with tan skin. Seriously what does he do go to the gym when he should be sleeping. She couldn’t help but notice a large tribal wolf tattoo over his right hip bone which she hadn’t noticed earlier.

“Hey” He smiled. His hazel eyes glancing over Kailee’s body. Kailee blushed and ducked her head.

“Oh, hello Trent,” Michelle smile beamed. “Our little Kailee’s been playing around with some wolves. Particularly a big black one she said was simply amazing.”

“Oh really” he smirked as he was pushed forward by a group of guys all shirtless in shorts trying to squeeze through the door like a bunch of clowns. He stepped aside and they flopped in a couple landing on the floor in a heap.

“Oooo…. Kailee’s playing with wolves instead of her fiancé.” one guy commented.

  “Was he sexy.” another cooed.

“To bad.” Mason grinned. “Maybe she likes the wolf better than you.” he chuckled earning a scowl from Trenton and a smack on the back of the head by his mother.

“Hey maybe you would like to meet me in the pool next time instead of a wolf” another commented this guy earned a low growl from Trenton. Wait. Did he growl?

“What are all you guys doing?” Kailee questioned.

“Ah… just hangin’ out.” they all commented at the same time.

“Come on Kailee,” Trenton smiled as he took her hand, feeling the lovely jolts of electricity flow through them once more. Kailee would feel them after her mark formed but now he could touch her and she would never know. “You can tell me about your wolf friend.”

Kailee happily followed Trenton as she starred at his strong muscles. She smiled at how wonderful he looked. If she couldn’t get away at least she would be stuck with someone as hot as Trent.“I can’t believe your starring at my butt.” Trenton chuckled from in front of her.

  “I am not!”

  “Are too.”

“No I was not. I was just looking at … ah… your tattoo.” Kailee chose.

“Sure.” Trenton smiled he knew she was lying he could smell her the moment she began starring since her arousal grew stronger. He had reached the top of the stairs and whipped around to pin her against the wall. He shoved her hands up as he placed his free hand against the wall by her head. He towered over her. “If you say so sweetheart, but” He looked her up and down “I won’t lie, I like what I see.” he grinned then he wrapped his free around her waist and pulled her close. He began to bring his face close to her and she could feel his hot breath on her lips.

Kailee smiled shyly and tried to wiggle free. “Ah… I think…we should ah… go to bed. Ah. I mean I am tired I am going to go to sleep.” She blushed and scooted through the door.

Trenton growled lowly as he followed after her. “So you’re going to play hard to get.”

“Uh.. I ah…” she paced. Trenton had now been in between her and the bed blocking her path.

Trenton took a step forward. Kailee took a step back. This continued until Kailee felt the wall behind her. She watched as Trenton’s eyes went from their warm inviting hazel to a strong lusting gaze which made her squirm. In one quick move Trenton had pinned her again both his hands were on either side of her.

  “Kiss me?” Trenton pleaded.

  “No.”

“No? Why not?” Trenton questioned confused taken aback.

“I don’t know you.” Kailee whimpered.

“We have forever to get to know each other. We’re getting married remember.” Trenton smirked. “Please just one kiss.” he begged he slid his hands down to Kailee’s sides. He stared deep into her bright blue eyes with his now lust filled orbs. He brought his hands up slightly to her sides. His fingers smoothly and gently, like a feather, began to tickle her skin softly.

He caught Kailee of guard she was too busy staring at his eyes to notice his hands move until she felt the movement of his fingers on her sides. She squirmed under his grip and he grinned. An evil laughter poured through his lips. “Uh oh…. someone’s ticklish” he laughed as Kailee squirmed and giggled in front of him.

“Sto…pp.. Plea..sse” she giggled lightly as she squirmed and attempted to shove his hands away.

  “Kiss me?” Trenton begged again.

“O..k..a..y.. jus.t o…ne .“Kailee stuttered and Trenton immediately stopped to allow her a chance to catch her breath for a moment. “Thank you.” she breathed heavily. She stared up into his hazel eyes with her bright blue orbs and Trenton’s head slowly started to lean down to meet her. Moving herself up onto her tip toes she brought her lips upon his. Her kiss was short and sweet not much over a peck.

This didn’t satisfy Trenton’s urge he leaned down to her and crashed his soft supple lips into her plump pink lips once more. When they connected he could feel the sparking explosion of electricity shoot through his body and he was thrilled.

Kailee pulled back. Trenton smiled he was satisfied for the moment at least. “Now, how about you tell me about the wolf” He questioned flopping onto the couch and patting it for Kailee to follow.

She frowned slightly, but sat ne
xt to him anyway. She proceeded to tell Trenton about the wolf and how their interactions went. She watched as Trenton smiled with what looked like pride and joy listening to her. He seemed to believe every word that flowed from her and that made her happy.

When she got to the part of how amazing it was and how beautiful it was, Trenton couldn’t take it any longer. “You think he’s beautiful?” He questioned a bright smug smile forming on his lips.

“Oh it was gorgeous.” she breathed dreamily. “You think it will come back to see me?”

“Oh I am sure HE will.” Trenton reassured her. He knew for sure this wolf would come back as much as he knew for sure this wolf was a male. He was falling in love with the girl and he needed her to know his secret. Soon, he thought to himself, soon we will reveal everything to her.

“I sure hope I get to see him again.” Kailee yawned as her eyes slowly closed.

  Chapter

  Six

Kailee awoke the next day to the sound of the shower turning off. She sat up, stretching she waited for her turn in the bathroom. When Trenton walked out of the bathroom with only a towel which hung dangerously low on his hips she blushed.

“Oh my god!” she squealed blushing as she covered her eyes with her hands.

Trenton chuckled as he walked into his closet. “Hey cutie you can look now,” he laughed. “You might want to dress comfortable Lilly has asked if she can take you shopping.”

“Yeah.” she smiled Lilly would be fun to hang around for the day.

“She told me you have an hour.” He told her as she hurried past him into the bathroom. She took a quick shower and sighed to herself for being so hopeless and cursed herself for forgetting a towel. She had no choice she called out to him. “Trent” she called and waited patiently. “Tre…” she began and stopped as the door opened.

“Kailee what’s up? Are you okay?” He questioned anxiously.

“Hi.” She smiled timidly from behind the shower curtain. “Ah… I forgot a towel.” She pulled a face as Trenton chuckled, his eyes bright with lust and then turned walking away.
