This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places and incidents are either the product of the author's imagination or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to any actual persons living or dead, businesses and events or locales are entirely coincidental. This book also has some strong scenes that may cause offence. This isn’t your typical romance.
Chapter One
Poppy
Where is he? I think to myself. I wonder if he’s here.
I almost slap myself for thinking about him again! I need to forget about him. He’s history. I need to focus on right now and not about the past.
I’m at the clubhouse, for one of the older members’ birthday celebrations. There’s so many that I sometimes forget whose birthday it is, unless I’m close to the person. Lulu is standing beside me, talking with Drew, Maci, Baby and Zane. I’m trying to listen to what they’re all talking about but it’s hard to when my attention seems to be somewhere else.
“Yeah, they’ll be a few security runs coming up.” Baby nods. “There’s some trouble brewing in our sister clubs.”
Somewhere in the back of my self-consciousness, I’m aware of Maci complaining about Baby going away for an uncertain amount of time. My eyes scan the area once again and I hate myself as I do it. Why can’t I just forget about him already? I’m beginning to piss myself off. No matter how much fun I seem to have, I just can’t stop thinking about him.
That night shouldn’t have happened and it won’t ever again. I am determined of that. I can’t let my guard down around him because I clearly can’t trust myself.
“Oh, you’re going too Zane?” Lulu asks the famous biker.
“Yeah!” Zane nods excitedly. “This is what I’m known for.”
Lulu smirks and looks down at her drink, she’s deep in thought while the others continue to talk. I watch her curiously, her eyes keep flickering to Zane whenever he talks and it’s a much needed distraction from my wondering thoughts. Fuck, does my sister like Zane Redgrave? My quiet and sweet sister has the feels for one of the most dangerous bikers in this club. Wow. I need to bring this up with her later because right now a chill runs down my spine, so strong that I shiver.
Trying to not make it look too obvious, I look over to the entrance of the clubhouse to see him walking into the room. Dressed in a tight black shirt, black jeans and his leathers, Ryder nods towards everyone he passes, but when his eyes connect with mine his fast pace slows slightly, a seductive smirk spreading across his handsome face.
I freeze and it’s like everyone else here disappears with the click of a finger. We’re alone again. I try to forget about our mishap last month but it’s sort of hard to do that when it’s the best sex in your life. I often tease myself with the dirty memory even though I’d rather not. I just can’t help myself! My hot and steamy night with Ryder will always be stapled into my mind. That was the best sex I’ve had. Granted I’ve only been with three men, Ryder included.
I shouldn’t have let myself go there with Ryder. I shouldn’t have put myself in that situation. I’ll forever blame it on the alcohol. That and running into my ex-boyfriend with his new girlfriend.
You know when you’re suspicious of you boyfriend, you think that he’s fucking around with someone else and when you pluck up the courage to finally ask him, he makes you feel like you invented it all in your head? That you’re just paranoid and there’s nothing to worry about? Yeah well, Ryan did that to me and his new girlfriend is the whore I suspected him cheating on me with. It hit me hard seeing them together, holding hands and laughing. She saw me too. The bitch grinned right at me, knowing exactly what I felt and to rub it in even more, she ran her hand through his hair, the two of them pausing in the street and kissing like know body was watching. I was though. The first thing I wanted to do was drink. Call it a coincidence but Ryder was alone in that bar too, and he spotted me as soon as I walked and he watched me cry alone in a corner booth. He eventually brought over a beer and that one beer turned into three, then five and I lost count after that. Ryder made me laugh and forget why I was upset in the first place.
It shouldn’t have happened, Ryder and me. My big brother, Axel would be pissed if he was to ever find out about it and my dad would likely kill him. When you live within the club, there’s certain rules you have to live by and sleeping with a members’ daughter or sister behind their back is pretty bad. Although it does happen because freaky shit happens inside the MC lifestyle, it’s best to play by the rules if you want to continue living with the club. Especially considering the fact that Ryder is one of my brother’s closest friends. If Axel was to find out, he would feel betrayed and so would want to hurt Ryder.
I try to regret my night with him, but fuck me I can’t! How could I? A big, sexy, tattooed man comes onto you and you have the greatest sex you’ve ever had? Yeah, you’re not going to regret that!
I’m going to have to try and think of it more as an accident, rather than a mistake. A really sweaty, had me screaming at the top of my lungs type of mistake. A smile creeps onto my face and as my eyes reconnect with Ryder, he smiles right back at me. Shit.
I hear Lulu laugh and I try my best to return to the conversation but I just can’t stop looking at Ryder. He’s so fucking sexy it hurts to look at him.
“What do you think Pops?” I hear Lulu’s voice and jump from my naked daydreams.
“What?” I ask her, almost shaking from the fear of being caught in the act.
Lulu gives me a weird look. “We were wondering what the trouble might be, at the sister chapers.”
I look from Lulu, to Maci and then Drew. Wait, when did Drew join us?
“Erm,” I take a sip of my drink, trying to buy me some time. “I don’t know, what do you think?”
Drew wears a secret smirk, as if she knows I wasn’t listening and Lulu looks confused.
“We just said that we thought it might be Venom’s men resurfacing again.”
“Oh yeah, right.” I nod, acting as though I already knew that. Drew’s smirk deepens and Lulu’s eyebrows furrow. Maci is too busy watching Baby talk to some other members to care what’s going on here. She really seems upset at the chance of Baby leaving to handle shit elsewhere. I feel bad for her. “I hope that’s not the case though.”
The thought of Venom’s men resurfacing after everything we’ve been through as a club is haunting.
“I hope not either, but I’d rather face the truth than be sucked into a fake sense of safety.” Drew frowns into her glass and I’m reminded once again of how much suffering she’s been through. Losing her man to Venom’s kill hungry men, those events will forever hurt us all but Drew and her family the most.
My eyes avert from Drew, not wanting to watch her through her inner turmoil. They land right back on Ryder, his eyes are still on me and when I reconnect with him, he licks his bottom lip. I immediately have memories of what that glorious tongue can do and my cheeks burn.
Lulu nudges me out of my heated thoughts and I see it’s now just the two of us.
“What’s the matter with you?” Lulu demands to know, frowning at me.
“What?” I stumble, feeling slightly disorientated.
Lulu looks around the clubhouse, her eyes land on Ryder and she freezes. My sister
then turns to glare at me. “Oh I get it, he’s here.”
“No.” I begin to laugh, shaking my head.
“Don’t laugh at me.” She grumbles. “You’re too busy staring at Ryder to even listen to anyone! Are you trying to get people to find out that you two were fucking?”
I look around us, making sure nobody overheard her. “No! Are you?”
Lulu looks around too, probably now realising how loud she was talking. “Of course not.”
“It’s just difficult when he’s around.”
My twin sister rolls her eyes. “Keep away from him then.”
“Easier said than done.” I growl. “Do you think I want to be around him? Do you think I want people to find out and get him into trouble?”
Lulu’s harsh expression softens. “Come on, let’s go outside.”
We turn to enter the club gardens, when I cast a last glance over at Ryder to see him talking with my brother, Axel. He dares to wink over at me and I can’t help but laugh. Damn that man.
Lulu casts an annoyed look at me as we leave Ryder’s sight. Why do I have a feeling this is going to be impossible?
Chapter Two
Poppy
His arms wrap around my body, cradling me as he pins me in place. His hard cock thrusting inside and there’s nowhere I can go. Not that I’d want to move from this place. I’m fine where I am.
Our sweaty bodies stick together as we grind. Ryder’s arms are still around me as my legs wrap around him, clinging on for dear life. I scream in pleasure and my eyes roll back. My clit throbs as it nears it’s climax.
My hands reach around and grab onto his toned arse cheeks. I squeeze and my orgasm hits.
My eyes snap open wide. I’m in my bed, a sweaty mess but I’m alone in my bedroom. Ryder is not here and we’re not having sex. I’m just dreaming about us because he got under skin last night when I saw him at the clubhouse.
My inner thighs ache and I now notice that my fingers are on my clit and they’re wet. Shit. I’ve been playing with myself! I don’t even have control of my own body when it comes to this guy. I need to cool down and have a wash. So I get out of bed and run into the shower that’s in mine and Lulu’s shared en suite. It used to be mine and Lulu’s playroom when we were younger and it was perfect because it was in between our bedrooms, but when we got older our parents turned it into an en suite and a beauty room. It has all the correct lights and storage. It’s truly beautiful.
When I step out of my shower, Lulu is sat in the make-up area, moisturising her face.
“You’re up early.” Lulu remarks, looking at me through the mirror.
“Am I?” I try to avoid her and quickly make my way back to my bedroom.
“Hold it right there!” She yells and I pause in the doorway. “What’s going on with you and Ryder?”
“Nothing.” I insist, turning to face her.
Lulu looks me over as if the answer she’s searching for is written on me. “You told me it was just the once.”
The only person I told about my night with Ryder is my twin sister. We share everything, so I would feel odd if I kept this from her.
“It was.” I exhale, “it’s just hard bumping into him everywhere I turn.”
“Do you like him?” She asks me.
Her question shocks me. “Like him?” I repeat. “Ryder?”
Lulu frowns. “Yes, that’s what I asked Poppy.”
“No.” I quickly answer. “No I don’t.”
“So why is it hard to see him?” She quizzes. “If you didn’t like Ryder, then it wouldn’t be hard to bump into him.”
Fuck, I didn’t think of that.
“It’s awkward.” I complain. “Now, can I get dressed or do you need to drill me some more?”
Lulu relaxes. “Sorry, it’s just you were really weird last night.”
“Yeah.” I nod. “Because it’s fucking awkward.”
I disappear into my room to get dressed, making sure to shut my bedroom door behind me because I know my sister would follow me and continue her questioning. I told her about Ryder because we never keep anything from each other, it’s our twin promise that we made when we were younger and we haven’t broken it since. However, I do regret telling Lulu what happened between Ryder and me because she keeps nagging me. At first it was fine because she wanted to know all the details and actually seemed excited by the news. Now though, she’s seems disappointed and is constantly making sure that I’m keeping my distance.
It’s not like I enjoying bumping into Ryder three or four times a week and that I enjoy the awkwardness between us. I think that’s more on my side though because whenever I do see Ryder, he’s very flirtatious from a distance. He winks a lot and looks at me with those dark eyes of his. He obviously doesn’t know what his eyes can do to me, or he might if he wants to torture me.
It also seems like my parents want to inflict pain on me too because they tell me that I have to attend a clubhouse BBQ next weekend because it’s some important date to the club, whatever. I wasn’t paying much attention because all I could think of was that I’m going to be around Ryder again. I don’t know if I should be happy or not. I know I should be ok, that Ryder doesn’t matter to me and I have nothing to worry about, but the butterflies in my stomach say something else.
When the weekend comes around, I’m a nervous wreck. I know I’m going to see Ryder. I try not to think about it too much but it’s all I can think about. Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I realise I have dressed to impress Ryder. In figure hugging high waist jeans, a floaty crop top in black with matching boots. My long brown hair is pulled into a sleek high pony and my make up looking dark and sultry, I can now see that I’ve gone all out.
Lulu steps into my room, after finishing her own make up and her blue eyes widen when she sees me. “Wow, you look great!”
“Is it too much?” I ask, spinning to face her.
She shakes her head, “No!” Lulu looks at her own outfit, “but I think I might go and change.”
“Why?” I ask, following her into her own bedroom.
Lulu’s bedroom is more girly than mine, decorated in pinks and greys whereas mine is more black and gold.
Lulu opens her wardrobe and begins searching, not finding what she’s looking for. At the minute she’s wearing a white summer dress and gold sandals. “I look too casual compared to you.”
“Don’t be daft!”
She flashes me a look which tells me to shut up and help her out by joining her with my hands digging through her wardrobe, but I do something else. Instead, I quickly walk to my room and dig out two black dresses. My staple colour is black. It’s classic and sexy. A little like me. One is a long maxi type style which ties in at the waist and the other is a tight fitting dress with long sleeves and finishes below the knees. I take the two of them to Lulu and hold them up by the hangers, “Which one?”
Lulu’s head comes out from her wardrobe and seeing my dresses, her eyes widen. “They’re from Elise’s shop.”
I roll my eyes. “I know, I bought them with my discount.”
“Dads going to kill you, he said no more clothes.”
I shrug my shoulders, not caring about dads empty threats. “Which one?”
An hour later, we’re in the back of my mums’ car on our way to the clubhouse. Lulu decided on the tighter dress and she looks incredible. My dad’s face was priceless when he saw the two of us come downstairs but he didn’t say anything. Smart of him because we wouldn’t go and change outfits anyway. Especially when my mum exclaimed at how beautiful we both looked.
My dad parks the car, the beating of the music coming from the clubhouse is easily heard. My thoughts are still fixed on Ryder, it seems my best efforts to ignore him are unsuccessful. Lulu and me help our mum with some boxes from the boot of the car, they contain meat for the BBQ tonight. Each Old Lady brings some food to help cater for the numbers. The clubhouse is full of growing boys of all ages so we go through a lot of food.
Ho
lding our heavy boxes, my dad of course carrying the heaviest, we make our way to the kitchen. M fingers hurts when I put down the box on the counter. “How much food have you brought mum?”
I flex my fingers to try and get the feeling back and I catch Lulu doing the same. “Yeah, why doesn’t Axel have to help?”
“Because we don’t know where he is.” My mum grumbles.
“Or who he’s with.” My dad adds, a secret smirk in place and my mum smacks him on the arm.
“Gross dad.” Lulu frowns, leaving the kitchen and I quickly follow.
We head to the bar and order ourselves some free drinks, the prospect tries to spark up a conversation but I can’t be bothered. I turn my back to him to let him know I won’t be talking and let my sister handle him. She’s the sweet one.
“Hey!” Drew wonders over, a huge smile on her face. “How are you two pretty things doing?”
I laugh. “Just about getting the feeling back in my fingers.”
“Yeah, I saw you with the boxes but don’t worry, you weren’t the only one.” Drew rolls her eyes. “I don’t live at home and I still get dragged into helping.”
“You are the sister to the President though.” Lulu points out and Drew groans.
“I am indeed.”
I see her face fall slightly, as if all the emotion has disappeared but as quickly as it happened, Drew returns to her normal self. She has a lot of moments like this since her dad, Franky died due to his injuries of another. He was the president of this club but now his oldest son, Grim has stepping into his shoes and I think I speak for everyone when I say he’s doing his father proud.
A chill runs down my spine and I know without looking around that it’s Ryder. I don’t want to make it obvious, so I don’t bother looking around. Instead, I try my best to stay a part of the conversation with Drew and Lulu. As hard as I try though, my thoughts keep drifting in and out of my dream last night. It felt like it was so real!
The flashes from my dream now mix together with true images from our night together and my face begins to heat up.
