Nutella Crunch & Murder

“Is that Marvin?” Rudolph Rodney called from the floor of the shed.
Heather breathed a loud sigh of relief. He was alive.
“Marvin is the killer,” Rudolph Rodney cried. “I saw him do it. I thought he was running away, but then he came around and threw a bag over my head. He brought me here. I saw him kill Peter Mapleson!”
Ryan and Peters began reading Tim Morris his rights and placed handcuffs on him.
“Can you make sure Rudolph Rodney is all right while we deal with that man?” asked Ryan. “We’ll call for an ambulance to check him out.”
“Of course,” said Heather.
“We can also explain to him what really happened,” said Amy. “That Marvin was the killer, but not the kidnapper.”
“One thing at a time,” Heather said.
Ryan and Peters led the suspect away while Heather and Amy tended to their friend. They removed the bag from over his head and began untying him.
“I’ve never been so glad to see anyone in my life,” he said.
“I feel the same way,” said Heather. “We were so worried. I would never have forgiven myself if we were too late.”
“You weren’t,” he said. “You saved me.”
They checked to make sure that he wasn’t hurt. He felt a little woozy, but otherwise believed he was unharmed from the ordeal. “Marvin” had made sure he had food and water.
They helped him to his feet but told him to take it easy.
“You’ve got a busy day ahead of you,” Heather warned him. “You’re going to be checked out by medical professionals, you’re going to take a nice hot shower, and then, if you’re up to it, you’re going to visit Donut Delights. My assistants have been planning a donut party to celebrate your return.”
“I’d love a donut,” he said.
They all hugged, joyful that they were going to have a happy ending to the story after all. Heather supposed she should invite Hope to the donut party too so that she could get the scoop that was promised to her.
Rudolph Rodney smiled and them and then chuckled.
“What is it?” asked Heather.
“I was just thinking,” he replied. “You two are the best investment I ever made.”
The End.
