The men look at each other and one of them says, “We’re

not from Louisiana. We came down here for the Mardi Gras celebration, sort of a business trip slash vacation.”

Richard says, “Well that explains why they grabbed you,

you’re not from around here; no one from here will know of you or that you’re missing.”

“Oh that’s just Great!” One of the men says. “So we were

just basically at the wrong place at the right time!”

“That’s right,” Richard says, “for them at least. They were

hunting for prey for the upcoming full moon ritual. The Mardi

Gras is a celebration preceding the season of Lent, a celebration

where the people can eat, drink, and celebrate before fasting.

The brotherhood of the Wolf celebrate the full moon as a

celebration of the hunt, where they too eat, drink, and celebrate a successful hunt each full moon. Sort of a non ending Marti Gras for them.”

“So,” one of the men say, “I guess we could start by

introducing ourselves, since we’re going to be lunch for the brotherhood soon.” Richard and the others smile and begin one

  by one with introductions.

Meanwhile Cheri and Father Petri make their way down

through the swamp to where an old cabin sits, where the Bernard brothers live. Father Petri approaches and knocks on the cabin door, it slowly opens just enough for the barrel of a twelve gauge to poke out through the crack in the door.

From inside a voice yells, “You better have a damn good reason for bothering me this time of night.”

Father Petri says, “William, it’s Father Petri.” The twelve

gauge barrel is quickly drawn back through the crack of the cabin door.

The door soon opens and William Bernard stands red faced,

“I’m so sorry Father Petri, I had no idea it was you.”

“My son, think nothing of it.” Father Petri says, “I would

have reacted the same way had I been in your shoes I assure you.”

“Well hell Father, come on in, our house is your house.”

  William says smiling.

Father Petri says, “I truly hope you mean that William as

that is exactly what we need, a place to take a stand. As you could say, there’s a storm coming, but this is worse then any hurricane you’ll ever face.” Father Petri says.

“You need me and my brothers help Father?” William asks.

“We sure do.” Father Petri says. “William, do you know Cheri Leblanc?”

William looks up and down at her and says, “Boy do I ever

Father, I’ve had a crush on her all my life. That goes for my brothers too, Roy, and Bobby. Why do you ask Father?”

“She is here with me because she needs our help William.”

“Hey Father, anything for you! Any friend of yours is a friend of ours, and besides,” William says turning red faced, “she’s

real purty. We Bernard boys are at your service, and our cabin, for however long you need it.”

Father Petri says, “You’re a true friend William Bernard, and that goes for your brothers as well. Where are they by the way?”

“Oh,” William says, “they are hunting gators, you know them Father, they like having fun!”

Father Petri smiles and says, “Oh how well I know William.”

William says, “They’ll be coming in sometime this evening

with some wild stories to tell and some Gator meat for the stew pot.”

Cheri says, “That sounds delicious! I’m starving, I don’t know about you Father?”

“Yes,” Father Petri says, “sounds great, that is if you don’t

  mind William?”

“Hell no Father, we don’t mind a bit. They’ll be plenty to go around. Shoot, I got a bottle of Bourbon around here too if you’d like some, or we got some wine too!”

“That sounds wonderful William,” Father Petri says, “I could use a glass of bourbon.”

William says, “Would a tin cup be ok Father?”

“Oh yes William, that will be just fine.”

Cheri speaks up and says, “The wine sounds good to me

  Will.”

“Coming right up.” William says as he turns to grab some

  cups from the cupboard.

As William pours their drinks, Cheri peers out the window

smiling, she says, “I see two mangy looking fellows heading towards the cabin.”

William smiles and says, “That would be my brothers Roy,

and Bobby. Are they carrying anything with them?”

Cheri says, “A potato sack full of something and it’s dripping blood from it.”

William smiles and says, “Hot damn, we’ll eat tonight!”

Father Petri looks up at Cheri smiling as he shakes his head.

It isn’t long before the door to the cabin flies open and Bobby and Roy come storming in screaming, “YEEEEE Haw! We got us some gator meat!”

William, all excited, smiles and asks, “Was it a big one!”

Roy says, “A big one she was for sure, almost bit off my damn leg! But me and Bobby got her good! And look here, I got me some Gator teeth, enough to finish up my necklace.”

“Hot damn, them are some biggins!” William says.

Then Bobby and Roy realize they have company, recognizing Father Petri and Cheri, they settle down.

“How you boys been doing?” Father Petri asks.

“Just fine Father, what you doing here this time of night?”

  Roy asks.

“We came for your help.” Cheri says. “A friend of mine is

  in trouble.”

Bobby smiles real big revealing most of his teeth, either rotten or missing, and says, “Well any friend of yours is a friend of ours.” Bobby asks, “Will this be dangerous?”

  Cheri says, “Very dangerous.”

Roy and Bobby, in unison, yell, “YEEEEE- Haw!”

Cheri says, “More fun then hunting Gators, as we’re going

to be fighting some of them Werewolves Madam Juju always warned us about, remember?”

Roy spoke up and said, “We were spying on some of those

brotherhood boys earlier today. They have some people locked up in an old shed.”

William asks, “Is that where your friend is at?”

  “More then likely.” Cheri says.

Roy says, “Well what are we waiting for? Let’s go have some fun. I always wanted a Werewolf head over my fireplace.”

“Grab your machetes boys, let’s go kick some Werewolf

  butt.” Bobby says smiling.

William says, “That’ll have to wait, Father Petri and Cheri are hungry. I told them they could have some gator stew.”

Roy asks, “William, do you have the vegetables boiling already?”

  William says, “Sure do.”

Bobby says, “Well, we’ll get this meat cleaned up throw it

in the pot and in about an hour it’ll be ready to eat.”

Back at the brotherhood compound in a small shack Susie lies tied up and gagged. She hears the door unlatch and in walks a young man smiling. “Are you comfortable my dear?” Susie can’t speak but gives the man a dirty look. He smiles and says, “Oh now Susie, that’s no way to be, after all you should feel privileged you were chosen to be the Master Werewolf’s mate. I bet you’ll make some real pretty babies for the brotherhood.”

“It won’t be much longer now,” he continues saying. “Day

after tomorrow is the full moon. The hunting ritual will take place one minute after midnight. But you my dear, will be mine before

that takes place as I will bite you and you’ll turn. Then if you’d like, you can join in the hunt. You’ll be amazed at how strong you’ll become, and when we go on the hunt the freedom you’ll feel; well all I can say is it’s amazing. Not to mention the smell of the night air, your senses
increase, your hearing, your sense of smell. The best of all is the taste of your first kill!”

He laughs and says, “Once you go wolf baby there’s no going back; you’re hooked. Susie, you know, being a Werewolf isn’t so bad, you have the strength of ten men, you live for ever, if

you loose and arm or foot it they’ll grow back. Unfortunately silver bullets, or having our heads cut off will end our lives which really sucks, but that doesn’t happen very often; all in all it isn’t a bad deal. And you have to admit, the whole living for ever thing, now that’s sweet!” Susie’s expression is one of shear terror.

  CHAPTER FIVE

Meanwhile, back at the Bernard brother’s cabin, Father Petri and Cheri and the Bernard brothers have finished eating and are checking their gear.

Sliding on their back packs they all head for the door. Father Petri says, “Now boys remember, the shot guns will do you no good unless you get a good head shot. You’ll have to blow their brains out or use your machete to chop off their heads. Otherwise you’ll be their supper tonight. Now what we’ll do is find the captives sneak them back here, then we’ll make our stand.”

“They’ll be on our turf then.” William says. “We can set

traps around the cabin, stake them down.”

Roy says, “We can use old cans on strings to set up as a

  warning signal that they’ve arrived.”

Father Petri says, “Before we head out to face this impending danger let’s form a prayer circle, take each others hands and let’s have a prayer for our safety and successful mission.”

With that, they bow their heads and Father Petri says a prayer asking for God’s mercy and grace. Father Petri ends by

saying, “And dear Lord, may we be successful in our mission and give us the knowledge and strength to defeat our enemy the devil and his brotherhood of wolves. Amen!”

Bobby says, “Well, are we ready?”

Father Petri says, “Now remember, the element of surprise is what we want, let’s sneak in, get them out of there, then head back here and set the traps and be ready for them.”

William says, “I have an idea Father.”

  “What’s that Will?”

“Why don’t we leave Roy behind so he can start getting the

traps prepared and the alarm system strung.”

“Sounds good.” Father Petri says. “Are you ok with that Roy?”

“Sure thing Father, you guys go ahead.”

So Father Petri, Cheri, William and Bobby head out for the

brotherhoods compound. “Well,” Father Petri says. “You lead the way boys.” With that they head off into the swamp in the direction of the brotherhoods compound.

Meanwhile, back at the compound, the young man talking to Susie says, “Well it’s been nice visiting with you, but I have to get back, they’ll be looking for me as I’m sort of in charge you

might say, second in command as it were.” He walks out of the shed closing and locking the door behind him. He turns and leans towards the door and says, “I’ll be back lover.”

It isn’t long before Father Petri and the Bernard brothers, and Cheri make their way slowly into the compound. Sneaking up to the shed that holds Richard and the other men, Cheri peeks through a crack in the shed and whispers loudly; “Richard are you there?”

Richard answers back, “Yes, me and five other fellows.”

Cheri whispers, “We’ve come to get you out, so give us a

minute we’ll pry some of these boards loose and you can sneak out the back.”

“Sounds good Cheri.” Richard says. “I can’t thank you enough.”

Bobby and William pry two of the side boards free of the shed, William crawls inside and cuts the ropes on their hands and feet, freeing them and helps them to their feet. Slowly they sneak through the opening of the shed wall one by one and hide in the swamp.

Once everyone’s accounted for they head back for the Bernard brothers cabin quietly as possible. Once they reach the cabin Father Petri and the Bernard brothers go to work boarding up the windows leaving only a slot large enough to see out of and to stick a shotgun barrel through.

Richard asks Cheri if there was any thing he and the other men could do to help? She says, “Yes, you can string some more of these empty cans, we’re using these as an alarm system to let us know when they’re getting close to the cabin.”

Richard says, “Come on guys, grab some of this twine and

  let’s start stringing these.”

“Then when your done,” Cheri says. “Roy can show you

  where to string them.”

“Sure thing.” The other men say. “We’re more then happy

to help out any way we can.”

Richard and the other men get started string cans, soon they have enough to make a complete circle around the outer perimeter of the timber surrounding the cabin.

Soon they all sit in the cabin floor polishing off the last of the Gator stew. Richard looks at Cheri setting next to him and smiles saying, “I think I could get used to this Gator stew.” The Bernard brothers smile.

Bobby Bernard speaks up and says, “I’d say so, you sure

  cleaned out the kettle.”

Richard smiles and says, “How about if I do the dishes tonight?”

Roy Bernard says, “You got a deal!” Father Petri and the others laugh out loud. Richards face turns beet red.

Cheri smiles and asks, “Are you sure you do not have some

Cajun blood in you Richard?” As she rubs his hair giggling.

William looks at Father Petri and says, “I think Cheri’s in

love Father.” Cheri hearing what William says now turns beet red herself.

The Bernard boys break out laughing singing and pointing at Richard and Cheri, “Cheri and Richard sitting in a tree…” Richard and Cheri’s faces now are both beet red.

Richard shouts out, “Haven’t you Bernard boys got something else to do?” Everyone busts out laughing.

Then they hear it! Cheri says, “Father Petri, the cans!”

William shouts, “Hot Damn boys, they’re here! Grab your

shotguns boys, it’s hunting season. YEEEEEEEEHAW!” Then

they hear something climb on the roof, the sounds of claws ripping and tearing at the wood shingles.

Roy says, “Damn, sounds like they are trying to come through the roof!”

Father Petri says, “Take your places at the doors and windows my friends, they’re here!”

Everyone takes their positions, it isn’t long before they hear loud multiple howling coming from outside the cabin. Richard says, “They’re calling the others, this is it!”

William and Bobby open fire out the gun slots. Bobby yells, “I got one! I blew his brains out all over the porch!”

Father Petri says, “One down, twelve to go.”

“What do you mean?” Bobby asks.

Father Petri says, “The Devil’s Wolf pack will be a coven of thirteen members, the Master Werewolf is their leader.”

Richard speaks up, “We kill him, the others will change

back to humans, as he is the source of their infection. There can be more then one coven though, depending on how long they’ve been around. And the fact that they have been mating with their she wolves, there could be more.”

Father Petri says, “Richard is right, that’s why they go by

the name of brotherhood; there’s definitely more than likely more then one coven. But for now, we have to deal with the ones outside.”

Cheri says, “It’s gotten too quiet out there, they’re up to

  something.”

Father Petri says, “They are waiting to see what we’re going to do.”

Bobby says, “Well they should change back by morning to

  their human form, shouldn’t they?”

Richard says, “The day after the full moon the brotherhood will take back their human form till the next full moon.”

  “Well,”
Roy says. “At least we have that on our side.”

Richard says, “Yes, as once they’ve changed back to their

human form, they can be killed as any other human can. Father Petri, if we can just hold them off till morning they’ll change back, and most likely disappear back into the swamp till the next full moon. All of them except for the Master Werewolf of course.”

Richard continues, “My only concern, is when Lucifer came to pay me a visit at the shed, he spoke as though he had Susie. God only knows what’s happened to her by now. If what

Lucifer said is true, I have no idea where he would be keeping her. He could have her anywhere.”

Father Petri says, “Most likely, she would be some where at

the compound where we found you and the others. But Lucifer will have her in a different location, that much is for sure. When

morning comes if we can hold out here, we’ll go rescue her as well. As the others will return to the compound but they’ll be easier to handle come morning when they are back to human form. So if we can hold out till morning, kill as many of the brotherhood as possible tonight, we’ll have less to contend with at the compound tomorrow.”

“Sounds like a plan.” Cheri says.

Richard says, “Sound good to you Bernard brothers?”

“Hell yes, we got your back!”

“Then let’s try to kill as many of these suckers as we can

  tonight!” Bobby says.

Roy says, “Well we won’t be able to do it from in here, we’re going to have to go to them!” And out the door Bobby, Roy, and William go with their machetes swinging in the air above their heads screaming, “Come on you son’s a bitches, come and get it!”
