the Bernard brothers, they grew up together. Hell, they used to hunt Gator together all the time. My nephews, they still do! There’s money to be made in Gator skin my friend.”
“Well,” Richard says, “we could use some more fire power,
that’s for sure.”
Pierre says, “These boys hunt only with knives and machetes. They believe it’s more sporting. Besides, a hunting knife is much more quiet, they’ll never know we’re coming. And it’s
much more fun to kill your prey barehanded with a good hunting knife or machete.”
“Well,” Richard says, “if you don’t have silver bullets the next best thing would be chopping their heads off with a machete, that’s the only two ways to kill a Werewolf.” It isn’t long before Pierre steers the boat towards land.
Pierre tells Richard, “You will have to climb into the water
and tie these lines off on some tree stumps over there. I can’t take her any closer, if I do she’ll run aground, then we’ll be up a shit creek, this is for sure. And please remember Mr. Devine, try not to disturb the water to much as the Gators they are hungry. You do not wish to draw them to you.”
Richard says, “You got that shit right Pierre.”
Isabella watches as Richard slowly lowers himself into the
murky swamp water. Moving ever so slowly, he one by one ties off the lines securing the boat to the bank. Pierre yells, “Now Mr. Devine slowly walk on in, me and your lady friend will meet you on dry land. I have a small raft we’ll use it to come to shore. That way your friend, she will not have to get her feet wet.”
Isabella turns and says, “Why Pierre, you are quite the
gentleman, chivalry is not dead after all.”
“Hey Pierre, I see you found yourself a new girlfriend.”
Richard laughs. Isabella looks up at Richard giving him the evil eye as they come to rest on the bank. Richard smiles and says, “Here, let me help Mrs. Leblanc. Hey Pierre, it has a nice ring to it doesn’t?”
“Yes it does.” Pierre says smiling. “It has been a long time
since old Pierre has laid with a woman.”
Isabella frowning says, “Ok you jerks, do you want my help or not?”
“Just kidding.” Richard says.
Pierre speaks up, “I wasn’t, I was serious dear lady, you can lay down with me any day.”
Isabella turns to Pierre and winking and says, “Oh Pierre, I bet you say that to all the woman.”
Pierre turning red says, “Yes I do, but it never gets me
anywhere.” And they all break out laughing.
About that time they hear someone say, “Hey, what you be
trying to do, wake the dead?” Then out of the trees step three rough and dirty looking men.
Pierre says, “Ah Isabella, Mr. Devine, may I introduce you to my three nephews, Tinker, Yank, and Boo.”
Richard asks, “What is it with you people and your weird ass names?”
“Careful there mister,” Tinker says, “them be fighting words.”
Richard says, “Hey, no harm intended!”
Isabella says, “Well I just think they’re adorable names, and I’m just dying to hear how your folks chose them for you.”
Pierre says, “We can talk about that over supper. Boo, Yank, Tinker, gather us some fire wood and then go kill something. I’m hungry.”
“Will do Uncle Pierre,” Yank replies, “we’ll be back in a
few.” Yank, Tinker, and Boo head out into the swamp to hunt
for food. It isn’t long before Tinker returns with some fire wood.
Boo arrives shortly after with more. Boo heads back out into the swamp to help Yank hunt for food.
Tinker gets the camp fire started while Isabella starts a pot
of coffee. Richard and Pierre sit talking. Isabella comes and sits down next to them. Looking at Pierre she says, “So Pierre, tell me how your nephews came by their names.”
Pierre says, “Well actually it’s their nick names. Tinker,
when he was about four years old, loved to take things apart and then try to figure out how to put them back together again. So since he always liked to tinker with things the name sort of stuck with him. So from then on everyone just called him Tinker. Boo was always sneaking up on people when he was little and would jump out of a hiding spot and yell boo! So everyone just started calling him Boo.” Pierre laughs, “Yank, his is the best name of all. When he was nursing from his mother he used to yank on his mothers biscuits with both hands, thus the name Yank became his nickname. There you go, that’s how they got their nick names. Yank, Tinker, and Boo.”
Isabella asks, “What do you mean ‘yank on his mothers biscuits‘?”
Pierre says, “Her breasts of course.”
Isabella says, “Well I just think that’s so cute.”
“Well,” Pierre laughs, “Yanks mother didn’t seem to think so.” Richard and Isabella break out laughing. Pierre says, “Hey you wanted to know, yes? So now you know.”
Boo and Yank arrive back at camp with a large catch of
channel catfish. It isn’t long before the boys have them cleaned and have them frying in the pan.
They all sit around the camp fire eating, and when they are done they begin to prepare for the trip on foot to the brotherhoods compound.
Yank, Tinker, and Boo take the lead while Pierre, Richard, and Isabella bring up the rear. Richard says, “Boy Pierre, I can’t thank you enough for lending these waders to me and Isabella. They sure keep you dry don’t they.”
“Yes.” Pierre says, “And besides, I don’t think the Bernard
brothers will mind one bit.”
Richard says, “They sure were great bunch of guys Pierre.”
“Yes, they sure will be missed. They made the best moonshine in the state of Louisiana that’s for sure. Could wrestle a gator with the best of them too. Well at least the boys are going to
get a little pay back. Those brotherhood boys don’t know who they’re messing with.” Pierre says. “Boo, Yank, and Tinker will have their heads stuck on a pig pole before this is over, of that you can be sure. The rest of them will be Gator food!”
“Sounds good to me Pierre.” Richard says.
Isabella says, “You men are disgusting. All this male macho shit.”
Pierre says, “I speak the truth I can guarantee, my nephews
are out for blood little missy.” It isn’t long before darkness falls
as they near the brotherhoods compound.
Isabella says, “Wait, I’m getting a vibe. Cheri’s in the shed
over there, and from what I’m picking up she’s ok for now, they
haven’t turned her yet. They’re waiting on the moon, it will be full tonight at the stroke of midnight. Then they’ll go on their hunt and she will be the chosen one for the Master Werewolf. It will be then that she’ll be turned by his bite. So we must act quickly. There are three guarding her building.”
Pierre says, “We must move in quietly then. Tinker, Yank,
Boo, can you take out the guards?”
Boo smiles and winks at Pierre as he says, “No problem uncle.”
Pierre says, “Mr. Devine, you and your lady friend stay back here and cover the rear. If you see anyone…”
Richard cuts in and says, “I’ll blow their damn heads off
their shoulders!”
Pierre says, “That should do nicely. I will go with my nephews, yes?”
Richard says, “Sounds like a plan!”
Pierre turns to his nephews and says, “Ok boys, let’s go
quietly, as quietly as a snake. Then we strike like one too.”
Boo, Tinker, and Yank, smile back at Pierre as they head into the swamp with Pierre following close behind. Richard and
Isabella watch the rear to make sure some of the brotherhood don’t stumble across them by accident, and give them away.
Meanwhile, at the compound, Lucifer enters Cheri’s shed where she
’s being held captive. His eyes sparkle like candle flames in the night as he says, “Well, well, well, who do we have here? Mr. Devine’s little Cajun slut. Not for long my dear, as soon you
will be roaming the swamps with the rest of the brotherhood, searching for human fl esh. Sadly one of them will be your darling Papa.” Lucifer screams, “YOU SEE MY LITTLE CAJUN SLUT! YOUR PAPA HAS PISSED ME OFF! THAT UNGRATEFUL BASTARD HAS BETRAYED ME!”
Cheri’s eyes open wide a look of terror on her face. Lucifer
seeing her fear says, “Oh, I’m sorry my dear, let me recompose myself, I just don’t know what could have came over me.” Then
Lucifer’s eyes turn from the appearance of sparkling candle flames, into the darkest, coldest, black orbs, one could ever
imagine. As he screams at Cheri once more, “THAT BASTARD
DARE’S TOO BETRAY ME! MY DEAR, YOUR PAPA, IS AS
GOOD AS DEAD, AND HIS BOAT IS NOW BUT A PILE OF
SMOLDERING ASH!”
Across the swamp Isabella and Richard guard the rear as
Pierre and his nephews head through the swamp to rescue Cheri at the brotherhoods compound. When suddenly, Pierre’s boat burst into flames, and is completely engulfed in fire.
Richard and Isabella look on in disbelief, as right before their eyes, Pierre’s boat burns and sinks to the bottom of the swamp. Soon the smoke clears and it was as if the boat had never existed, no trace was left behind. Isabella screams, “O my God! What just happened?”
Isabella turns and looks at Richard. Richard says, “I have
no idea.”
Then Isabella says, “Wait a minute, I’m picking up on
something. Shit Richard, we better catch up to the others, that son of a bitch Lucifer, knows we’re here!”
“Oh great,” Richard says, “if he knows we’re here, so do they!”
Richard points at five brotherhood members coming for them out of the swamp. Richard pulls his 9mm out of his shoulder holster aims and fires dropping one them. The other four brotherhood members bolt towards them. Richard takes aim and fires once, then once again dropping two more.
As the last two come upon them, suddenly Pierre and Tinker jump out from behind a stand of trees with machetes high and swing their blades across the throats of the other two brotherhood members, cutting their heads clean from their shoulders, dropping their torsos to the ground as their heads roll off to the side of them.
Tinker looks up at Richard smiling and says, “You know, for a city boy, you ain’t half bad!”
Richard smiling back at him says, “You know, for a Cajun
boy, neither are you.”
Pierre says, “We left Yank and Boo behind at the compound. They’ve got Cheri and they are heading back here.”
Richard turns to Pierre and says, “Looks like we’re on foot
from here.” Pointing towards the area where Pierre’s boat used to set.
Pierre says, “I must of really pissed somebody off. I never
really liked that damn boat anyway. Too damn fancy for me.”
Isabella smiles at Pierre and says, “Way over rated, a dime
a dozen.” Then her and Pierre break out laughing, Richard and
Tinker join in as well.
Tinker speaks up and says, “The Bernard brothers had a twenty foot Johnboat with a pretty good size motor on it at their cabin, don’t speck they’ll be needing it any time soon now.”
“Tinker always was the one with the most brains in his head. Good thinking Tinker.” Pierre says patting him on the back.
About that time, out of the brush emerges Cheri, Boo, and Yank. Cheri looks up and sees Richard and runs to him, jumping on him wrapping her arms and legs around him and as she does plants a big kiss on his lips. Boo and Yank shout, “YAHOO! Damn Richard, you got yourself a wild woman.”
Richard says, “You better believe it, and I’m keeping her too!” As he turns and plants a long kiss on her lips.
Cheri looks up at Richard with tears of joy in her eyes and
says, “You came back for me!”
“You better believe it!” Richard says. “I know a good thing
when I see it!” As he smiles at her Cheri gives him another big hug.
Yank speaks up, “You know what they say Richard, once you go Cajun there’s no going back.” All three brothers, Isabella,
and Pierre and Richard break out in laughter.
Pierre says, “Well my daughter, I hate to spoil your moment, but she’s getting dark and they will be coming for us soon.
Tinker says, “We better head for the Bernard’s cabin and get that boat before they destroy it.”
“Once again Tinker,” Pierre says, “your using that head of yours.”
Boo says, “Come on, we’re losing light standing here.”
Pierre, Cheri, Isabella, and Richard bring up the rear as Tinker,
Yank and Boo lead the way through the swamp towards the
Bernard brother’s cabin.
Meanwhile, back at the compound, Jamie, the Master
Werewolf, enters Cheri’s shed and finds boards removed at the back and no sign of Cheri. He lets out a loud howl and all the brotherhood members come running, finding the dead brotherhood guards lying with their heads decapitated.
Jamie reports to Lucifer and informs him of what’s happened. Lucifer looks up into the night sky, the full moon over
head, Lucifer growls saying, “Let the hunt begin!”
At that moment Jamie fastens the Wolf Strap around his waist and immediately starts to transform into The Master Werewolf. The other brotherhood members like wise begin the transformation process.
Soon all the brotherhood stood around their Master looking
up at the full moon letting out a sorrowful howl into the night air in unison. The Master werewolf takes the lead as his brotherhood pack follows close behind as they run through the swamp heading for their prey.
Meanwhile, back at the Bernard brother’s cabin, Boo, Tinker, Yank along with Richard, Cheri, Isabella and Pierre arrive at the cabin. Locating the Bernard brother’s Johnboat, Tinker and Boo drag it to the waters edge. Boo turns to Pierre and says, “Uncle, some of us need to stay behind and hold them off.”
Richard says, “Boo’s right Pierre, you take Isabella and Cheri and shove off, me and your nephews will stay and fight. Protect the women Pierre. You can come back for us when this is over.”
“You have my word.” Pierre says. “May the saints be with
you Mr. Devine.”
“And with you and the girls as well,” Richard says shaking
Pierre’s hand.
Pierre looks at Richard with tears in his eyes and says, “You know Richard, I would be proud to call you my son-in-law.”
Richard smiles at Pierre and says, “And I would be proud to call you father-in-law.” Richard turns to Tinker, Yank and Boo
and says, “Come on guys, let’s head for the cabin and prepare for battle.”
Tinker, Yank, and Boo call out. “YEEEE HAAAAW!”
Pierre starts the motor on the Johnboat and steers it well out
into the middle of the lake where he shuts off the motor and they sit and wait, at a safe distance from bank. Cheri and Isabella along with Pierre sit and look out across the lake towards the Bernard’s cabin. Richard and Pierre’s nephews barricade themselves in the
cabin and await the attack of the brotherhood and their Master Werewolf.
It isn’t long before they hear the sounds of scratching and
clawing coming from outside the cabin door. Then the sounds of foot steps on the roof as well. The sounds of boards being ripped off above, digging and scratching noises along with growling sounds come from both above them and outside the cabins windows and doors.
Richard turns to Boo and his brothers and says, “Well, this
is it boys.” Richard turns and shakes their hands one by one and says, “Good luck guys!”
Suddenly one of the werewolves brea
k through one of the barricaded windows leaping into the cabin. Yank raises his machete and swings it at the throat of the beast completely separating its head from the torso. It’s body collapsing to the floor of the cabin and its head landing near by it.
From the above, three more werewolves drop down from a
hole torn through the roof. Boo swings his machete at one of the beast severing its head from the torso. As it collapses to the floor its head landing next to it. Tinker swings his machete in turn killing the second one, completely decapitating its head from its torso as well. The last beast lunges at Richard, Richard aims and fires his 9mm dropping the beast with two silver bullets.
As it lays on the cabin floor shaking and convulsing finally
coming to rest, the transformation revealing a young Cajun man, probably in his early twenties, lying dead on the cabin floor along with the other brotherhood bodies, all in their early twenties. Richard says, “Thank God none of them are my nephew. I just wish I knew what happened to Jamie.”
CHAPTER NINE
Boo says, “Maybe when this is over we’ll be able to locate
your nephew and rescue him as well.”
“I hope so.” Says Richard. “My sister Jessie’s worried sick
about her son.”
Soon another werewolf breaks through a barricaded window at the back of the cabin. Richard aims and fires dropping it as it leaps from the open window. It falls to the floor kicking and
whining like a wounded canine, soon transforming back into human from. This one was a female member of The Master werewolf’s pack.
A quiet now comes over the cabin as well as outside. Boo
looks out one of the open windows. Turning to Richard and his
brothers he says, “I think they’ve left.”
Pierre and the girls, seeing no sign of the brotherhood, slowly start back in towards land. Once they’re close to the bank Pierre jumps out and ties the boat off on an old tree stump. Isabella
and Cheri climb down and wade to the bank. Isabella and Pierre walk towards the cabin as Cheri returns to the boat to get her hair brush she’s left behind.
Suddenly out of the brush jumps the Master werewolf, teeth bared, growling, saliva dripping from its mouth, walking towards her with demon red eyes peering out at her. Pierre and Isabella make their way to the cabin. Upon entering Richard looks up and asks, “Where’s Cheri?”
