“Edward,” I called to him, “where are you going?” He was walking toward the door. Panic welled up in my blood.
Shit! Would he leave me…here?
What if someone found me in the morning? They’d definitely take me to King Stefan. He couldn’t leave me tied like this.
“Edward…” I screamed his name. “Don’t you dare leave me here…” My throat became scratchy from screaming so loud.
“Come back, you bastard! You just can’t leave me here all night.” He opened the door. “Edward…” I yelled his name again.
Shit!
Shit!
Shit!
He was leaving me here for real.
Oh my God! What had I done? Why did I push him so far? Why did I even say Veronica’s name when I knew he couldn’t take it? I just hoped to God this was a bad dream, and I would wake up safely in my room but shit…no…it wasn’t a dream. I had desired and prayed to meet this beast, and now when he had locked me in his cage, I wanted to be free.
He was a bloody coward who didn’t have the strength to accept the truth. I knew it was pointless to call him. He wouldn’t listen. He was not going to accept me tonight. Tonight, I was uninvited. He had other plans, and I had meddled. He was treating me as his enemy.
I supposed it was my ungratefulness toward Steve that God was punishing me for. Or perhaps, I had played with Steve’s emotions so much that he actually imprecated me and caused this nightmare.
Edward shut the door behind him and left me in darkness. I had no other option than to wait for him to come back. His vindictiveness turned my world upside down.
I wondered if he’d leave me here for a few days to starve, or if he would actually torture me. I had given my life to a beast who didn’t know anything other than manhandling me. He was a wild animal with a heart made of stone and I swore if I survived tonight, I’d leash this animal with my charms. He had no idea what he had done tonight.
What King Stefan warned him about—a woman’s wickedness and how she spins a web—I promised I’d prove that to be true. I would infuse his life with so much sugar that he would become diabetic and addicted to me. I would make him fall in love with me so I could break him down like he did to me today. I would weave my powers around him so strongly that he’d strangle and ultimately surrender.
Earlier, I’d had sympathy for him, but after tonight, I swore on my life that I would tear down all his defenses and make him as helpless as he had made me.
If he wanted to treat me as his enemy—I would show him what an enemy is.
EPILOGUE
STEVE
June 11th 2015
“Shit!” Where did she go?
I moved my gaze from my iPhone screen. It had turned black as soon as Myra disappeared into the mirror.
“Myra?” Oh no no no…she can’t vanish like that!
I screamed her name. The desolate walls slapped it back in my face as my voice echoed. I rushed toward the mirror.
How was it fucking possible for a girl to disappear into thin air?
How could I go back home? What would I say to her parents? They warned me not to bring her here. Now they would sue me for making their daughter disappear into the mirror.
All of Britain knew we got engaged today. It would appear on every newspaper and television channel tomorrow morning—and…
She just disappeared.
Was Edward really powerful enough to pull her into his world?
She was my two hundred million dollar doll, who was my gateway to opening the doors of Hue Castle for my game and the movie, my key to Universal Pictures, and now—her disappearance had put my success and my career at stake. I had already signed and closed the deal with the producer to bring her into a real-time magical time-travel movie…but shit…
She just disappeared.
Damn it!
I shouldn’t have risked bringing her here tonight. She looked like a princess today, and she was all mine, but now the dead bastard had her. Would he leave her untouched or ravish her like a beast?
I looked at her silver sandals on the ground. My Cinderella had left me not with one shoe, but both her shoes. She hadn’t left me any clue for me to find her.
