Altered Destiny: A Hustler's Choice

“Jesus! Jesus!” I screamed. I panicked.

He doesn’t answer me. Not even the look of compassion that he showed while we were together. I began to cry.

“Angels, where are you?” I asked, but still no answer from them.

“Sasha! Sasha is that you,” a voice next to me calls out to me. “It’s me T.”

I ignored him. He had put me through so much on earth. He was partly the cause of why I was here.

  “Sasha—” T calls out again.

I wasn’t burning like he was. In fact, I didn’t feel anything. Nothing touched me. All I felt was shame and hurt as he continued to call my name.

“Sasha. Help me, please...you owe me that.”

I turned to him and said, “I owe you? This is all your doing. This is all my doing. We’re both to blame.”

“You should have done something...warned me.”

“How could I have warned you? You wouldn’t listen to me. You were after what you wanted.”

“Oh, everything my grandmother said was true. She taught me that hell was real, but I dismissed her. I dismissed so many. I didn’t believe her or them. I didn’t care. You’re right Sasha, it is my fault. Jesus! Jesus! Save me from this place. Jeeeesssussss!” T calls out.

A creature with six heads all having piercings and tattoos and the scariest face came and poked T in the side with a spare and said, “don’t mention that name here. He can’t help you.” The demon began to laugh as he continued to torture T some more.

“They torment me all the time. We can’t escape from here. I’ve tried, but maybe...maybe you can help me. Sasha, please, please get me out of here.” T cried out.

  “I can’t,” Sasha said.

I was now chained to the ground. I couldn’t move and I couldn’t free myself. I tugged at the chains trying to get it off me. Trying to get free. I could hear laughter. It surrounded me. Then, it went dark. It lasted only a minute, but it seemed like an eternity. When the fire returned, T is no longer next to me, but Ice is. In a pit burning near me he screamed out in pain. Over and over his soul was being burnt. He cried out for help. I looked at my hands and feet. I was no longer chained. I get up and make a dash for it. But, I couldn’t go anywhere because I hit a wall. I turned around and ran in the other direction and I hit another wall. Every way I turned there was a wall.

  I cried out. “Help...please...”

Still no one hears me. I’m alone in this room. I heard a noise at the top and rocks with fire started to fall on me. There’s no way out and nowhere to hide or nowhere for safety. It hits my skin and it begins to burn. Another one hits me and grazes my face. I look up. A demon at the top is throwing it at me.

“Stop, please stop,” I said screaming in pain. “You’re hurting me.”

“That’s the point,” the demon said.

It went on for a while and it hurt badly. I wanted him to stop, but he just wouldn’t. I wanted to go back to heaven and be with all the people that were happy and living freely. I wanted to be in heaven with Jesus worshipping Him daily. I had gotten a glimpse of heaven and now I want to go back. But, the angels didn’t answer me when I called. Jesus didn’t return when I reached out for Him. I was here to burn eternally all because I choose my own destiny and all because I didn’t accept Him. It was not fun here. There was definitely no party here, like they said it would be. Your soul burns over and over again and the pain is excruciating.

I cried that time, there by myself. I wanted to see Jesus and I wanted to be with Him. Then, right in front of me I saw a silhouette of Jesus, His face that is. Again, I saw Him. He was crying and very sad. He stood there for a while and he faded out slowly. That was the last time I saw him. That was the last thing I remember of him. I was stuck here…forever.

Say this prayer, Lord, I know that I am a sinner. I ask you today to come into my life to make me whole and to make me clean. I believe you died on the cross and rose three days later just to save me. I am eternally grateful. From this day forward I promise to serve you and only you. I give my life, my heart, my soul, my mind, and my body to you. In Jesus’ Name! Amen.

  Words from the author

I pray that this book has touched you like it has touched me. This

book was written because I was seeing the many choices that people especially the young people were making. I was seeing how their choices affected them and others. I wanted to write something that would change lives and this book I believe does just that. In addition, I wrote this book because of what I was seeing published for teenagers and young adults in the urban fiction section.

I urge you to go into the urban fiction section at your local bookstore and look at what teenagers and young adults are reading today (if you can after reading this get into your car and drive to the bookstore. Ask for the urban fiction and I am sure you will be astounded by what you see). I think if you took a step into the urban fiction section you would close your eyes and repent. These books are filled with explicit sexual scenes, glorify the drug and street life, have pictures and titles that would amaze you, and are geared towards teenagers and young adults. The storylines, book cover, and synopsis are enticing. The majority of the authors who write these books are good writers, but would you want your daughter, son, or someone you knew to read such things—especially if it goes against your faith?

I must admit I use to read urban fiction books, but not until a few years into college. I use to get so into the stories that those explicit scenes were just apart of the story. Then, one day in the beginning of writing this novel, it dawned on me that young girls, younger than me, were picking urban fiction books to read. Over time God began to show me that some of those books were shaping their minds and thinking. Many are even following in the same footsteps as the characters in the books. These books are teaching young people today and many are straying further away from God. It is teaching them immoral things and many are falling into a life that God never intended. After realizing all that, I knew, I had to continue to write this novel and show how the choices they make in life could alter their destiny.

The outcome in many of these urban fiction books usually ended with the characters leaving the drug game. Then, they would live high on the millions of dollars they made and lived on some island, started a business, or brought a mansion. What they did not expound on was what if you lived that lifestyle and you died. What happens afterward? Or, what about the choices that were made and how it affects others? Some of the books did show some consequences like having the main character loose everything, but they never showed the afterlife and what God would say. It glorified the street life so much that many are now living it and are not realizing the consequences of living that lifestyle.

Now I have heard before from a number of people that these are just stories or its real life and it needs to be portrayed. Well, yes, it is just a story, but when I see teenagers and young adults living that lifestyle it becomes more than just a story. Or, if it is just real life then portray what really happens 99% of the time. Portray the consequences behind it all and maybe just maybe teenagers and young adults won’t go down that route. It’s time we really be real and say that if you don’t make the right choices or if you live this lifestyle you could end up dead, never to return or have a second chance.

I encourage you today to get this book into the hands of a teenager or young adult you know. They need to see that their choices in life, if not the right o
nes, could alter their destiny. They need to see how God really sees them. They need to see that there is a better life out there. They also need to see that they don’t have to live the street life to get what they want or need.

So, please give this book to any teenager, young adult, friend, or even a stranger, as a gift. If you have a website or blog, consider writing about it without revealing the story. Tell how it touched you, recommend it, and link it to www.altereddestinyseries.com. If you own a business, maybe, put a display of these books on your counter to resell to customers (wholesale ordering is available, please visit our website). If you have a children and teen’s ministry in your church consider ordering some books and read it with them and discuss the book. I believe it will be a great discussion amongst your children and teen’s ministry. They will open up and then you will be able to minister to them (the lesson plans for this book will be available online).

You can also consider buying a set of books as gifts to battered shelters, prisons, rehabilitation homes, and the like. It may just encourage them. Talk about the book on e-mail lists you’re on, forums you frequent, and other places you engage other people on the Internet. Write reviews on bookstore sites. Most of all spread the word about Altered Destiny. Word of mouth will get it into the hands of the people who really need it. Just think if you hand this book to them or let someone know about it, it could alter their destiny. :)
