*This spell can be used to incinerate corpses and infected organic matter.

  Base damage: 120HP

  Mastery Level: 1

That was a nice amount of damage but a high mana cost. Arthur might need to practice it to increase mastery. It might make the spell more cost-effective. They left a pile of ashes as they traveled back into the walls of the village. Arthur and Allendria made their way to the bathhouse together. They needed to clean the dirt and ash from them after working on getting the bodies removed.

They both stripped and walked into the bathhouse water. They quickly scrubbed off and relaxed in each other’s arms. Arthur was idly playing with her hair when she looked directly into his eyes.

“I’ve made my decision. I think I am ready now.” She said to him.

“Ready for what? Were we supposed to be doing something I forgot about?”

She smiled at him seductively. “Oh, I think you know what I am talking about.”

Arthur remembered their conversation from the night in the inn, and his breath caught in his throat. He put on a smile, and they got out of the bath and dressed again. They made their way back to the inn and up to Arthur’s room. She entered behind him, and he quickly closed the door and bolted it shut. He rushed to her and started kissing her passionately. He ran his hands up her back and into her hair. He lightly pulled back on her hair while continuing his kisses down to her neck. He came back up and nibbled on her ear and heard her moan.

They started pulling clothing off of each other as quick as their hands could get it off and fell into bed naked together. They spent the entire night exploring every inch of each other and fell asleep drained, but pleased.

  ***

The following morning dawned as usual, but they decided to stay in bed together for a little longer. The late-night activities had taken it out of them, and they didn’t feel like messing with the typical day to day business. They cuddled up together and lay there in peace.

That peace was utterly shattered with cries of alarm. They could hear screams from outside the inn and could hear panicked running throughout the bottom floor. They both jumped out of bed and quickly dressed. They threw weapons over their shoulders as they went and rushed downstairs. Arthur saw people running every direction and stopped someone.

“What is going on?” he asked.

“We are not sure. Some big creature was seen flying around the town.”

Arthur nodded to this and took off outside. He needed to see this for himself. He made his way through the crowd and started to look around the sky. It didn’t take him long to spot the large shadow that was circling the village. Rushing through the group, brought him to Vana and Samson, standing together arguing about it.

“I’m telling you it is a long, scaled creature with wings. Its appearance seems to match the legends of the dragons.” Vana said heatedly.

“Dragons haven’t been seen since the demise of the Firebrands. What makes you think any of them would still be around or alive.” Samson retorted.

“They were supposed to be long-lived creatures. There is no reason one couldn’t be alive today. They just disappeared before. There was no record of them being hunted and killed off, so they may have just left. If I had to guess, it is here because of Arthur.” Vana told him.

Arthur chose that moment to enter the conversation.

“Vana, what is that thing up there?” he asked, already fearing he knew the answer.

“I am fairly certain it is a dragon,” She told him.

  “Are you sure?”

Allendria spoke up before Vana could answer. “That is indeed a dragon and a very odd colored one. There was only one I remember being told about that was that particular color. Violet scales were only mentioned by my father one time, and he told me she was one of the younger dragons. You should go talk to her, Arthur.”

“What?” he screeched. “You expect me to go talk to a dragon? Are you out of your mind?” He asked her.

“Well, of course. The dragons were friends of your family. Did you think the Firebrand name was just a coincidence?”

“Fine. How am I supposed to do that?” Arthur asked in a resigned tone.

“I’d say go out to the wall alone and let her come to you,” Allendria told him.

“I’ll give it a shot, but if she kills me, I’m coming back to haunt you for life.” He told her in mock seriousness.

Arthur made his way out of the town and walked to the wall on the Eastern edge of the village. The dragon spotted him by himself and swooped down low. She made a quick pass over his head and then banked and came back toward him. She came to rest in front of him about eighty yards away. Arthur gulped as he saw the size of this creature.

She was the size of a school bus with a broad nose and rows of razor-sharp teeth. She had two massive horns that were twisted and around six feet long. She had two spiked protrusions from the side of her head that extended backward and had the same membrane in between them that was between the bones of her wings. Her wingspan was impressive and looked to be around sixty feet. Each wing had two spiked bones that came from the main wing bones and stuck out the bottom. She had one more spike that extended to the end of her wing.

She had four legs with the front two slightly smaller. Her front legs looked more like human arms and had claws with five large nails on them. Her hind legs were built much thicker and resembled the jointed rear legs of a lion. Her tail extended out forty feet and was only slightly shorter than her body, but it had a ridge of spikes down the back of it. The sight made Arthur think of the pictures of a stegosaurus he had seen back on Earth. This creature exuded power, and its focus was on Arthur.

Arthur decided to suck it up and slowly made his way toward the dragon. She shifted back and forth on her legs as he approached. When he got within twenty yards, she lowered her head, so her eyes were even with his, and it felt like she stared directly into his soul. Her eyes were a bright purple that seemed to match well with the darker purple of her scales. When he got within ten feet of her, he stopped.

“Hello, dragon. Can I have your name? I would prefer to call you by name if possible.” He said nervously.

She looked at him and cocked her head to the side a bit. After a few rather uncomfortable moments, where Arthur thought he would be eaten, she finally answered. Her voice was a melodic sound with a feminine quality.

“Young Arturian, I guess you do not remember me. My name is Calfuray, and we were once soul bonded to each other before you disappeared a hundred years ago.” She told him in a sad tone.

  Confrontation

“You Bitch!” a harsh voice rang out across the white space. Lianne had been relaxing in a chair in her white abyss while reveling the progress of her champion on Dravincia. He had been progressing well, and it looked like her gamble of returning a lost son of the loved Firebrand family was going to pay dividends. She turned to face the voice.

“I don’t recall inviting you in here, Bell,” Lianne said sweetly.

“Don’t you dare call me that! Who the hell do you think you are? Do you think you could put a champion on one of my worlds and get away with it without me finding out?”

Lianne knew that Isabell hated being called by Bell, and that was precisely why Lianne had done it. They had been bitter rivals for eons.

“Of course, I knew you would find out. I am not sure what you plan to do about it. My champion is formidable, and I have high hopes he will return the world to my control. Dravincia will be mine again, dear sister.” She spat out the last as a curse.

“Ha, you honestly think your plans are going to work? I am not sure where you found a person dumb enough to accept you as a Goddess on this mission, but I feel sorry for them. Once my representatives take care of him, I can go back to forgetting you ever existed.” Isabell told her derisively.

Lianne was rather pleased with this. It looked like Isabell hadn’t discovered who her champion was but only that she had one on the world.
She couldn’t wait to see the fear in the woman’s eyes when she found out the truth. Her representative had been responsible for the coup that killed Arthur’s parents. This world had been under Lianne’s control for hundreds of years before that. She wasn’t about to tell her his identity, though. She wanted to make sure Arthur had all the time he could get to prepare. If Isabell found out who her champion was, she would send absolutely everything she had, and he couldn’t hope to hold out this early.

“We shall see. You won this war last time, but I have high hopes for my current champion. He is rather resourceful and seems to know how to fight better than some of the bottom feeders you call followers.”

“You watch your tone with me.”

“Ha, what do you think you are going to do? There isn’t anything you can do to me. We are Gods, we cannot harm each other directly.” Lianne said.

“Oh, I know, but you have other worlds I could go for next. I have been content to leave our rivalry alone after I took Dravincia, but it appears I need to resume my work.” She said with a sinister grin.

“You can try, dear sister. I have beaten you plenty of times in the past and will do so again.”

“Prepare yourself, sister. It is time for us to go to war, and your champion on Dravincia is doomed.” Isabell said with an evil smile.
