I’m such a bitch. Twist has always been good to me, and I didn’t even send him a birthday card last month.

I swallow, remaining quiet for a minute before I respond. “I know. I felt really bad not being able to tell them all goodbye.”

He looks all over my face and nods slowly then looks at the ground.

“I’m kind of surprised he didn’t come up after your ass to make sure you’re okay. You know he thinks of you as his little sister.”

“I know, but you said he’s here now, so we can have lunch or something.”

He glances over at me and gives me a small smile. “Actually, we can head over to the hotel and get my shit. You can visit with him there, if that’s cool?”

“Yes, that’s fine. Can we stop by Subway on the way, though?”

I want to get Twizzler his favorite sandwich with his other favorite: macadamia nut cookies. I’ll get a bunch of assorted cookies to take for the other boys to snack on, too.

Cain rolls his eyes and huffs out, “I swear, did your ass ever bring me lunch as much as you brought him those damn sandwiches? You’d think he was your man, but I was the one providing you with dick all the time.”

I laugh—what an ass. “Oh, giving me dick, huh? I’m pretty sure I remember you offering it up quite willingly. Over here acting like you sacrificed or something. There are many times you got a quickie on the side of the road somewhere.” I grin, peering up at him.

I missed this—our back and forth banter. We used to have so much fun together. He was always quick at getting me to burst out laughing at random times. We got stared at like we were nuts by so many people while in the grocery store, I’ll never forget it.

“Hell yeah. I gave you that shit, baby. No one was ever allowed on my cock but you.” He kisses my lips tenderly, and I respond by lightly biting his chin.

“Grr…” He grumbles and I giggle. “Come on, you know that shit will get you spanked. We need to get my bag.” He grabs my jacket off the arm of the chair and helps me into it. Then pulls my hood up, covering my hair up, and ties it under my chin like I’m a kid. It makes me feel cherished.

Cain slips into his leather jacket and zips it up. He’s so sweet to me, even looking like a total bad ass.

He wraps his arm around me while we walk to his bike and holds my hand while I climb on behind him so I keep my balance. He’s always been so thoughtful, and I never realized it before.

I place my arms around his hips, holding on tightly, and bury my face into the back of his jacket. I breathe him in. God, I missed him so much.

I’m so damn grateful I get this chance to spend some time with Cain. I need him so badly right now.

He revs the engine and takes off, causing me to squeal a little, and I feel his chest vibrate with him laughing at me.

  Best sound ever.

  Chapter 7

We arrive on the outskirts of town at some little hole in the wall type of motel. The roof is a bright blue color and the motel sign is missing the E. It dully spells out MOT L. It’s the kind that you enter the rooms from outside instead of through the inside of the building. Each room has a window next to the door with an ugly, faded green curtain.

If I wasn’t with Cain and didn’t know the guys, I’d never stop by this place, even if someone paid me to.

We pull into the gravel lot and he walks the bike into a space next to the brothers’ bikes. He shuts the engine off, and I carefully climb down while holding onto his shoulders. My lips have a perma-grin plastered on them when he looks over at me.

I blurt excitedly, moving my arms around crazy as I go, “God, I missed your bike! That was awesome.”

He beams his beautiful smile at me and climbs off. He seems thoroughly pleased with my outburst, but that could also be because he just got laid, too.

“That’s 'cause you were made to ride on the back of my bike, sweet cheeks.”

His response has me glancing away. I can’t believe I’m pregnant and I’m going to have to tell him.

I love the fact that I’m going to have a baby, but I feel so guilty because I know it’ll hurt him, and that’s the last thing I want to do to him. I don’t want to have to see his reaction when he finds out. I know it’ll upset him.

He leans down and kisses the tip of my nose. “Come on, London, let’s get that sexy ass inside and warm.” He grabs my hand and heads toward their room.

We stop in front of the bright blue door that has a gold number “15” on it. Cain gives it a good pound and yells that it’s us. The guys are going to have a heart attack when they hear him. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start shooting.

“Open the fuck up, Twizzler; I brought you the chicken that flew the coop.”

The door flies open and Cain is met with a Glock in his face. He remains still, cool and calm as he stares straight down the barrel. I’m sure it’s not the first time he’s had a gun in his face before.

Surprisingly, that thought doesn’t scare me. It must be because I know he can handle it and will do what he has to in order to take care of himself. Plus his brothers have his back as well.

“Shut the fuck up, pussy. Only she gets away with callin’ me that shit. You, I’ll put in the fucking ground,” Twist growls menacingly, and Cain chuckles.

“Put that shit away, brother. No one heard me calling you that, so take the burr out of your dick.” He pushes in through the open doorway and pulls me along with him.

I grin at Twist and he opens his arms up, welcoming me to him. I walk straight into them and give him a hug.

“Cupcake, how you doin’?” he drawls, and I love the familiarity of hearing him call me cupcake again mixed with his heavy southern accent.

“I’m good now, Twizzler. I brought you your favorite.” I hand over the sandwich. His smile grows as he grabs for the bag.

He sits on the end of the queen-size bed and starts to unwrap it. Twist may have some screws loose and be a mean guy when he’s provoked, but if someone takes the time to snatch him up, she’ll be one lucky lady. I’ve heard a few of the guys talking about what happens when he gets angry.

Supposedly, Twist will use different sized blades to stab the person screwing with him and then twist each blade one at a time. He does it again and again until he leaves holes all over their body. That’s some seriously scary, messed-up stuff if you think about it.

Luckily, he treats me as if I’m made out of gold. Because of how he is with me, it’s hard to know if there’s any truth to the hearsay.

“Thanks for this. So how do ya’ like it up here anyhow?” He takes a giant bite of his chicken bacon ranch sub with extra banana peppers. If I didn’t know him so well, I’d think he hadn’t eaten in two days, but that’s how he always eats.

“It’s not too bad, but I’ll be happy when it warms back up. I do miss home pretty bad.”

“Yeah, well, come back with us when we leave then. It’s not this fuckin’ cold in Texas right now.” He takes another bite, watching me.

“I’d love to visit home now, but I start my new job on Wednesday. I’d have to wait until I can take a few days off.”

Twist scrunches up his forehead and shakes his head, irritated. He attempts to come across nonchalant as he sneaks his opinion in. “No, cupcake. I mean, completely blow this joint and move back where ya belong.”

It comes out sounding like he thinks it should be common sense to me or something. Like I can easily just pack up and move wherever I want to. Not everyone can just hop on their motorcycle and go where their heart desires.

“Maybe when I finish up with school and I have to get my degree first. University of Texas is way more expensive than the University of Tennessee, even if I do have to pay out-of-state tuition.”

He rolls his eyes and takes another huge bite of his sandwich.

We both watch as Cain comes back into the bedroom area from the bathroom, carrying his shaving bag with his toiletries in it. “I got my shit and you two got to see each other, now let’s go back to yo
ur place, babe.” He grabs up his backpack and nods toward the door while he stuffs his smaller bag into his backpack.

Well, so much for visiting with Twist. Cain always has it in his head that we’re all on his timeline.

Twist snorts at Cain then glances at me. “Yeah, your man here has been a sappy shit without ya’, so I guess I’ll see ya’ before we leave.”

I put my jacket and beanie back on and lean over to kiss Twist on the cheek. He’s the only brother I do that to. Cain doesn’t seem to mind. Any other brother and they’d most likely eat Cain’s fist for a snack.

I smile at Twist and make my way to the door as Cain shouts his goodbye.

“Okay, sounds good! I’ll see you soon,” I call and head outside to the bike with hot stuff.

He sticks his backpack on my shoulders securely and we set out for my apartment.

A little ways down, I tap on Cain’s shoulder. He turns the radio down so he can hear me. “Yeah?” he hollers over his shoulder and leans his head back a bit more toward me.

“I want tacos,” I yell back, close to his ear.

I notice the little purple sign for the taco shop ahead of us not too far away. I want to stop at the drive-thru to take some home.

My belly starts to rumble at the thought of delicious Mexican cuisine gracing my mouth. This little baby is hungry, and I feel like I could eat fifty tacos.

“All right,” he agrees and puts his hand out to signal our turn.

  ****

We arrive home and I unload from the bike, carrying the taco shop bag. The lady in the drive-thru was nice enough to wrap them in a few paper bags then stuff them in a plastic bag to try to keep them a little warm. Thankfully, the shop is really close to the apartment or the tacos would probably be frozen.

Cain tries to take the bag away from me, but I tuck it into my chest and hold on tight.

He places his arm around my shoulders and laughs. “I can’t believe you, baby. What made you order ten tacos for yourself? I mean, shit, I only ordered five, and I always eat way more than you do.”

Taking a big sip of my iced tea, I smile. “I told you, I’m hungry.”

“Yeah, you’re hungry all right. I wonder what you’d be like hungry when you get knocked up. I bet you’d try to order the whole damn menu, sugar tits. Good thing I taught you how to ride balancing ice cream cones last summer or you’d never have made it back with that tea. I still can’t believe you held on to all of that shit and didn’t fall off the bike. Crazy ass woman.”

I can’t believe he’s really teasing me right now. I’m just hungry and cold, geez. I unload everything on the kitchen counter and stick my tongue out at him. My emotions begin to come to the surface from my hormones. You don’t tease a pregnant lady about food, it’s just not right.

  “Shut your face, Cain.”

This is bad… I’m supposed to be relaxing and not worrying about shit right now, yet I keep thinking about having to tell him that I’m pregnant.

He follows me into the kitchen and gestures to my drink. “And since when did ya start drinking iced tea anyhow? It’s like you’ve done a one eighty on the stuff you used to drink.”

I roll my eyes at him. He obviously pays too close of attention to me. I hadn’t realized it before, but I’m starting to now. He must’ve cared for me way more than I ever gave him credit for.

“I don’t know, okay? Tea with lemon and lots of sugar just sounded really good,” I huff and make my way to the bedroom.

I’m feeling guilty and like a whale for ordering so much stuff. The apple empanadas just looked so good on the menu picture; I had to get some of them as well. I bet he eats them, too.

I unload my jacket, beanie, and shoes into the closet then trade my clothes for a pair of comfy yoga pants and one of my tank tops. I slip my feet into my fluffy, fake fur Victoria’s Secret slippers I got for free when I ordered my adorable penguin pajamas.

Thank God it’s warm in here at least. I thought my fingers were going to freeze off on that bike. I had to stuff my hands in Cain’s jacket just to keep them warm. I thought he was going to wreck when I stuck them under his clothes and touched his stomach.

I laugh to myself as he pokes his head in the doorway.

“Hey, fruit loop. What are you in here giggling about?”

“I was just thinking about how you jumped when I stuck my hand in your shirt. That shit was funny.” I laugh louder and he smirks at me.

“Funny, my ass. I almost fuckin’ wrecked with your little icy hands.”

I start to tease him like I always have. “Oh, you poor baby. Still such a whine ass I see.”

His smirk turns to an evil grin, and I know what he’s going to do. I squeal. “No, Cain! You leave me alone, damn it. Don’t even think about it.” I start to back farther away, and he takes a step closer to me.

“Do what, sweet cheeks? I’m going to make you giggle some more, since you think you’re so damn funny and all.” He takes another step into the room and I shriek.

He laughs loudly and leaps into action. I almost make it past him—almost. He hooks me with his right arm just as I skirt around him. I go flying toward the bed, and then the next thing I know I have a giant man pinning me to the bed, tickling me all over.

I laugh loudly and try to plead with him. “No, p-please. Okay, you win. Cain you’re going to make me pee my pants, please! You’re right, it wasn’t funny.”

He finally stops and I take a few deep breaths, trying to calm the flutters in my belly. He bends down and kisses me, a big, wet, chaste kiss right on my lips. I love when he does that. It always reminds me of the first time I followed him to the compound.

He pulls away and sits up. “All right, London, I’m starving. My ass is going to eat. If you’re lucky, maybe I’ll eat you next.”

I grin at him and stand up. God, I love when he goes down on me; he’s freaking amazing with his tongue.

He grumbles and I barely catch what he says. “Come on, quit thinking about it. I’ve only had that bite of muffin today and my stomach won’t quit its growling.”

I nod and kiss his cheek, my own stomach grumbling. We head for the kitchen to get our munch on. I grab my drink and a beer out of the fridge for him and then sit next to him at the kitchen table We both practically inhale our first taco.

Cain groans in pleasure while he chews his food. “Damn, babe, these tacos are off the fuckin’ chain. I’m going to have to tell the brothers to hit them up, too.”

I grin and take another bite, chewing my mouthful before I answer him. “I love them and they are cheap.”

I don’t get to finish my sentence because my phone starts playing my ringtone. I have The Hollies’ “Long Cool Woman” as my ringtone. I figure if you could have a theme song in life that would be an awesome choice.

Cain grabs my phone since he’s closest to it. It’s probably just Mom or Emily. I haven’t talked to my mom in a few days, and I bet she’s freaking out. I’m not stuck on her hip, but we are pretty close.

Cain glances at the screen that’s lit up then glares, handing me my phone. “Who the fuck’s Cam?” he growls.

Fuck. That bastard finally called. Of course Cain would be the one to see it, too.

“No one, just some idiot I don’t feel like talking to right now.” I hit the reject option on the screen and turn my phone on silent in case he calls again or decides to leave a message. I place the phone down beside me and continue eating my tacos.

Cain appears even angrier after hearing my reply. “You’ve been seeing someone, boo?”

Shit, he only calls me boo when he’s really pissed at me. I roll my eyes and can tell he’s fuming inside. Cain huffs and sets his food back down on his plate. He stares at me, waiting for me to give him more details.

Giving in, I sigh. I want to get this out of the way now so we can forget about it. “I’m not with anyone now. I was seeing Cameron for a short time, but things didn’t work out,” I mutter vaguely, and he gazes to me as if he’s expect
ing more details to leave my mouth.

“And?” he pries after a moment, drawing the word out sarcastically.

My gaze meets his and I decide to play dumb. “And what?”

“And…why’s this fool calling you still if shit’s done and over?”

I swear this guy wants me to spell it out on paper for him or something. I’m not giving him the details on any relationship I’ve had. It’ll only make him angrier at me, longer. I’ve missed him far too much to have him mad over someone who doesn’t mean anything to me.

When Cain gets me wound up I tend to become a bit more sarcastic than usual, probably because he’s sarcastic about stuff as well and likes to act like an asshole.

“I don’t know why he’d call. I’m guessing maybe to talk to me? That’s normally why people use phones.”

“Don’t you go getting fucking mouthy on me now. I’m only asking why he’s calling, because I was the one deep inside that cunt earlier. I want to make sure that this time around we’re on the same page. I missed you, baby, but I won’t be getting left in the dust without a warning like the last time. You feel me?”

It breaks my heart knowing that he feels like he was left in the dust the last time we were together. If I could go back and do it all over again, I would’ve asked him to come along with me. Even if he could’ve only come for a short period of time, it would’ve been worth it.

I think things would have ended up much different between us. Hell, we might’ve still been together right now. In fact, I’m sure we would be.

We were so crazy about each other. It was almost to the point we could’ve been called obsessed with each other. Infatuated fits us perfectly.

I attempt to set his mind at ease and get him to calm down some. “Yes, I feel you, Cain. It’s not like that this time. I don’t care about him, at all. I don’t know why he’s calling me, but I don’t feel like dealing with it right now. He’s Emily’s fiancé’s best friend and things are just awkward now.”
