  “Oh, Iain, I’m so sorry.”

She buried her head in his chest, but this time it was him who pulled back, his hands cupping her face.

“There’s naught to be sorry for, Sallie. Giving up the chance to pummel a dead man is a small enough price to pay for a chance to spend a lifetime with the woman you love. If you’ll have me, that is.”

“A lifetime…” she echoed, trying to fully comprehend what it was he was telling her. “Me? You’re in love with me?”

“Aye, yer the woman I love. And, thanks to Soni’s determination to see me find my true happiness, I’m here for as long as you’ll have me.”

“I’ll have you forever!” Sallie vowed, wrapping her arms around his neck again.

“Thank you,” she whispered, hoping that, somehow, somewhere, Soni could hear her.

It may have been Iain’s happiness the little witch had sought when she’d first sent him from Culloden. But in the process, she’d insured Sallie’s happy ever after, too.

  Dear Reader~

Anyone who has read anything I’ve written likely knows that Scotland has long been a place close to my heart. I’ve invested hundreds of hours in research to attempt to stay as true to the actual history as possible in all my books. Never was this more in the forefront of my thoughts than while working on this story. Having known only the basics of the Battle of Culloden before preparing to write this story, I found my visits to Culloden Moor unusually moving and emotional. Knowing the history as I do now, I understand why.
