“He’s sterile. So that’s not really a consideration anymore, is it?” I answered
“Father would not approve his addition to our line.”
“Penny, didn’t your father just make it very clear that you’re kind of on your own?” I asked.
“Yeah?” The little vampire’s interest was piqued.
“Well, I mean he already wants you dead, and he’s not supportive of you in any way. He’s even helping our enemies. It’s not like your situation with him could get any worse. I’m not saying go out and turn Grim, but maybe you guys should at least consider it.” I said cautiously.
“Do you think he’d go for it?” Penny questioned.
“I don’t know. Who knows what goes on in his head? I know he loves you. We have time, though. So don’t rush anything. Okay?”
Penny nodded, “Thanks, DD. You’ve been a great friend. With everything that’s happened, I don’t know that I’d have been able to handle it without support from you and Grim.”
“That’s what I’m for. We’re family. Now, come get your snack before the shower makes me all prunish.” I teased.

“I would but I might wake him up. He hasn‘t slept well since we got here, and he’s going to need his rest today.” Penny’s voice was barely audible.
“So you think it’s all going to hit the fan today huh?”
“Don’t freak out, but there are soldiers surrounding this hotel, tanks and armored vehicles are guarding all the exits, and snipers took up positions on nearby roofs about a half an hour ago. So if those are any indication then, yes. I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet.”
I felt my blood run cold. I wanted to hop out of bed, but I was afraid to move. I looked to the window.
“Relax, we’re the tallest building in the city, and all the windows on this floor are mirrored glass. You could stand right at the window and nobody would know you were there. Now stop fidgeting because Joseph needs his sleep. He doesn’t think too clearly when he’s tired, and we’ll need him firing on all cylinders before this is over. Just relax and try to get some sleep, if you can.”
“Aren’t you afraid that they’ll come up here, guns blazing?” I asked.
