Jackson pulled his cock out of her ass. “You telling us what to do?”

Uh-oh. “I guess that means another spanking, right, Master?”

All of them cracked up. Life couldn’t get any better.

  * * * *

When Hailey opened her eyes, all she remembered after being unceremoniously dumped on the bed, dripping wet after their shower, was more mouths and hands exploring her. While they left her pussy alone, not another inch of her body remained untouched. To her delight, the men allowed her to run her fingers all over them, and seeing their cocks harden again delighted her.

Unfortunately, the long drive from Boise, coupled with the stress of Cody’s disappearance and the marathon lovemaking session finally won and she’d dropped off to sleep in the middle of all their caresses.

She sat up and checked out the time. “Oh, shit.” It was Friday after 10:00 a.m., which meant Cody would most likely be back in school, Tanner would be at the bank, and Jackson would be running the ranch. She eased out of bed.

Her suitcases and gear were still in the car so she was forced to dress in the same clothes she’d worn yesterday before heading down the hallway. On the kitchen table sat a sugary donut and a note that read, Meet me in the barn when you get up, sleepyhead.

It wasn’t signed, but she knew it was from Jackson. She gobbled the donut, groaning at how delicious it was.

She tossed on her jacket she’d left in the living room last night and rushed out the back door. The day was sunny, clear, and smelled like spring was in the air. She inhaled and smiled.

Inside the barn, she didn’t spot anyone.

  “Jackson?”

“Coming,” he called from the end of the stalls.

When he walked out, both of their horses fully saddled, joy blasted her. “We’re going riding?”

  “That okay with you?”

She didn’t have to start work until Monday, so she wanted to enjoy her last few days of freedom. “Absolutely. Where are we going?”

His cheeks dimpled. “Isn’t being with me enough?”

He was right. The destination didn’t matter. She mounted, and they walked their horses out of the barn and into the sunshine. Her horse seemed antsy, as if he needed to let loose. Jackson headed south, and she rode alongside.

He looked over at her. “I did get a bit of disturbing news today.”

She sank into her saddle. “What?”

“As I was cleaning up the back of the barn, an area where I usually don’t go, I found a duffel bag.” He looked off to the horizon.

  “And?”

  “It was Charley Higgins’s.”

She glanced over at him, not understanding what he was getting at. “What are you saying?”

“You know that chemical you found in the water? The one that harmed the animals?”

Her stomach tumbled. She didn’t want to hear the rest of the story. “Yes.”

“The wrapper was in his bag.”

The sun burned her face and the wind whipped her hair as her mind sorted through the evidence. “Are you saying Charley is responsible for poisoning the animals?”

“I’m afraid so. In fact, I’ve been at the sheriff’s office with Charley for most of this morning. That’s how I was able to pick up the donut.”

Her mind scrambled to put the pieces together. “Did Charley say why he did it?”

“He wanted to prove you incompetent so I’d fire you.”

“That makes no sense. How would killing the animals prove anything?”

Jackson slowed his steed. “He didn’t mean to hurt any of the animals. He wanted to make them sick. He was convinced you’d never figure out what had harmed them. He had planned on finding the solution and appearing to be the hero.”

  That was sick. “I’m sorry.”

“Me, too. Charley has been with my family forever. But hey, that means I’ll need someone to help me out.”

There was a silver lining. “Let’s see if Dr. Hunt can spare me.”

He didn’t smile, appearing a little distant after delivering the news, but as they headed toward a line of trees, his mood improved.

He glanced over at her. “You want to race to the tree line?”

She was so going to lose. “How about you give me a three-second head start?”

He dropped his head back and laughed. “You got it.”

Without waiting for him to give her the go signal, she kicked her horse’s flank, and the gelding took off. Jackson was a much better rider and his horse was faster, but the challenge got her blood flowing again. She was halfway to her destination when Jackson flew past her, one arm waving in the air. She laughed so hard, she had to hold on for dear life.

As she neared the tree line, she slowed and pulled alongside him. He jumped off his horse and rushed over to her, reached up, and guided her down. She hadn’t needed help, but she loved having his hands on her. As soon as her feet hit the hard dirt, she twisted around and kissed him.

He pressed his pelvis into hers and she got turned on. She broke the kiss. “Don’t even think about having sex out here.”

He tossed her an exaggerated frown. “Oh, Pleasure, you are such a spoilsport.”

She grinned. “It’s too damned cold to be naked, and secondly, your cowhands roam this range.” She wasn’t about to mention that her pussy was sore and her ass tender.

  “True.”

Another horse snickered and she stilled. “See? Someone is here.”

His brows rose. “Let’s go check it out.”

They tied their horses to a tree and entered the small forest. She’d never been back here. “It’s really pretty.”

“Wait until you see the stream. It’s one of my favorite places.”

Hand in hand, he led her about a quarter of a mile down a path. When they turned a corner, she halted. “What’s going on?”

Both Tanner and Cody were sitting on a blanket. They looked up at her and grinned.

Jackson faced her. “It’s called a picnic, Pleasure. We wanted to welcome you to the family.”

Giddiness blasted her. “This is amazing.”

As Jackson guided her down to the blanket, both looked like they were ready to burst.

Tanner took her hand. “This is a very special moment for us. We wanted all three of the men in your life to be here for this momentous occasion.”

She quirked a brow. Jackson nodded and Cody just grinned.

Tanner pulled something out of his pocket and opened his palm. A gleaming diamond ring nearly blinded her. Not only were there two blue stones on either side of a diamond, but there was a smaller ruby right below it.

“It’s beautiful.” She’d never seen anything so magnificent in her life.

“The ruby represents Cody. We’re the amethysts, but we can’t hold a light to you. The diamond represents your brightness and love of life.”

Tears of joy streamed down her face. “I don’t know what to say.”

Tanner slid the ring on her fourth finger. “Say you’ll marry us and be Cody’s new mom.”

Her heart hammered in her chest. “I do.”

They all hugged and kissed. Even after they all sat back, the elation didn’t go away. She had two amazing men and one wonderful child ready to love her. Her new life had just begun.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Unlike most other authors, I started writing late in life. Writing stories in high school and college was not for me. Only after I graduated did I fall in love with romance novels. For the next twenty years, I read voraciously. It got to a point where my book-buying habits cost as much as my groceries. At that point, my husband suggested I write a book. Hey, it looked easy, right? All the stories started in the same spot (hero and heroine at odds) and ended the same way (happily ever after). Only it was anything but easy. Eleven years and fifteen completed romantic suspenses later, I finally published. I never would have gotten that far had it not been for two local
chapters whose generous members shared their amazing wealth of knowledge.
