“Okay, country-western,” she said on a sigh. “Suit yourself. Just keep it down so people can carry on their conversations.”

She hobbled back over to where he stood. “When you get a seat on the Council and there’s a revote on the booze issue and the ban on Sundays is repealed, you can serve Mimosas and Bloody Marys.” She flashed a smile Ruby’s way and said, “Because it’s a buffet, there’s no need to print up menus.”

“That’ll save ya plenty,” she lamented.

Jack nodded. “And I already have a contract with a laundry service for linen for when we have receptions here.” He was obviously warming to the idea.

Liza said, “You could open at nine a.m. for the non-church goers. Stay open ‘til two for those who attend the late service and want to eat afterward. Charge $9.95 a person. Very reasonable. Children under six eat free.”

  He frowned. “Five.”

“Okay,” she said with a shrug. “Children under five eat free.” She plopped down on her stool, adding, “And if you’ll get me one of those fancy podiums Ruby has, I’ll be your hostess.” She smiled up at him.

  Jack chuckled. “Is that so?”

“We do make a good team.”

He grinned, dimple and all. “Yeah,” he said. “We do.” His head bent to hers and he kissed her again, making everything inside her go warm and molten.

It’d been a week since they’d made love, what with the immediate recovery time she’d needed for her cracked rib. Jack had insisted on taking care of her at the cottage. He’d initially invited her to stay at the house, but had retracted that invitation due to the difficulty in her getting up and down the stairs. Still, he’d been by her side all this time. And didn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

“What do you think?” she asked when he finally broke the kiss.

“I think it’s another one of your brilliant ideas.” He kissed the tip of her nose. “Let’s give it a try.”

More clapping told her this crowd would help Jack make ends meet while the booze situation got worked out.

“Sounds like this town might pull together in a pinch, after all,” she said.

Jack smiled again at her. “Darlin’, I’m starting to think you’re the one who’s handy to have around.”

“Feel free to show me your appreciation this evening,” she told him with a playful wink.

“Oh you can count on it.”

Later that evening, as Jack and Liza spooned in her comfy bed, he whispered in her ear, “How’s the body feeling tonight?”

“Yours feels heavenly pressed against mine,” she whispered back.

Her sexy cowboy chuckled, low and deep, setting her insides ablaze. As usual. “I meant yours, darlin’.”

“Oh well,” she said on a contented sigh. “A few aches and pains, but no soreness where you’re intending to touch me.”

“You may feel differently come morning.”

A wicked thrill shot through her. “Jack Wade,” she said on a breathy moan, already turned-on by the mere thought of the things he planned to do to her. “You really are the devil incarnate.”

“Never claimed to be a saint, remember?”

“Thank God for it. I like the sinners. My dad would’ve loved meeting you.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t get to know him.”

  “Me too.”

His large hands reached around her and cupped her bare breasts, giving them a rough squeeze as he said, “Let’s you and I do a little sinning tonight, darlin’.”

He shifted in the bed, rolling on top of her as he reached for a condom on the nightstand. She was already wet. Ready for him. He lifted the leg with her bad ankle, keeping all pressure off the fracture. His hard cock nudged her opening and she sighed, finding bliss all over again.

As he sank into her, filling and stretching her tight cunt, he looked deep into her eyes, stealing her breath.

“I do intend to make a respectable woman of you,” he told her.

A little shudder of excitement mingled with the heat that roared through her body. “Is that an impending proposal?”

  “It’s a promise.”

She smiled at him. “You haven’t broken one yet.”

“I’m true to my word, darlin’. Ask anyone.”

“I don’t have to,” she said as she wound her arms around his thick neck, holding him to her. “You’ve already proven it several times over.”

His hands roamed her body before settling on her ass. His fingers pressed lightly into her flesh as he thrust into her, picking up the tempo, making her hotter. Wetter.

“Jack,” she whispered his name, loving the feeling of him inside her. But it was more than that. Emotion overwhelmed her and she said, “I love you.”

He groaned. Thrust a little harder and faster until she came.

As she gasped for air, her body tingling from the sinfully delicious sensations he evoked, the Devil in Blue Jeans said, “Right back at ya, darlin’.”
