Raelin murmured in her sleep, turning towards the detective. “Love you Delaney,” was murmured as she pulled the woman to her.

Del smiled, warmth filling her at the sleepy words. She curled into the brunette’s hold, letting out a content sigh. “I love you too Darlin’,” she whispered, drifting off for some much needed sleep.

  A Chapter 19 a

A shrill ring from a cell phone snapped Raelin from a deep sleep. Groaning she sat up and looked around for the source of the noise. Looking around, she found Delaney’s cell phone and on the caller id saw Jasper’s name. Opening the phone, she whispered, “Hello...”

“Raelin...just wanted to give you a heads up that we about to arrest Brito. If Delaney wants to come into town and visit my store in about an hour, she can go through the back and sit in on the interrogation.”

Looking at the blonde that was breathing gently next to her, Raelin carefully placed her hand on Dels wounded shoulder and concentrated. “Thanks Jasper...I’ll let her know.”

“Will you be okay out there alone?” Jasper’s voice held concern.

“Yeah, I’m better today so yeah, we’ll be fine. She’ll be there soon. Thanks for calling.” Raelin closed the phone and put it back on the nightstand.

Leaning down, she brushed her lips against the blonde’s forehead. “Del…you need to wake up. They will be arresting Sam in an hour.”

“Raelin, you’re being bad again,” she muttered, blinking her eyes open slowly. “But thank you. It’s helping the stiffness.”

The witch smiled. “I’ll get you some of the salve and it will help even more. Sorry I fell asleep on you last night.”

“You needed the rest, we both did. Are you feeling any better?” the detective asked, wincing as she sat up. Now that she had been lying down all night, she could definitely feel the aches and pains from yesterday. She reached up and felt the cut on her forehead, trying to feel out how bad it was. She had a headache still, but the tea yesterday had helped.

Carefully getting out of bed, Raelin went into the bathroom and found the jar of salve, and came back out. “Let me help you take off your shirt and I’ll rub this in. You’ll be good in no time.”

Crawling on the bed so that she was next to the blonde, Raelin started unbuttoning the shirt.

Del watched Raelin work her shirt, seriously wishing they had time for something more fun. “Did you sleep well at least? You were out pretty good by the time I got rid of the dragon lady and her lackey.”

“I slept fine...easy here.” Raelin helped the blonde remove her arm from the shirt. “How in the world did you get this on last night?”

“Carefully and it hurt something fierce let me tell you. I assume that phone call was Kasey, telling you to get my butt out of bed or I’d miss all the fun?” the blonde asked, watching with interest as Raelin prepared the salve and removed the old dressing from her shoulder.

Chuckling, Raelin rubbed her hands together to warm the salve a little before she started and to put a bit of magic into it. “No, it was Jasper letting you know that they will be arresting Brito in about an hour and to go on in if you want to get in on the interrogation.” Carefully the witch started at the small of the detective’s back and worked her way up, working through the tight muscles and tendons.

“Jasper must be back from ditching Sumners then. Good to know. That Ryerson kid’s body language yesterday screamed arrogant meathead. Typical jock character, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was an agent for the hook up value. I’m glad Jasper came back, I know I can rely on him and Kasey at least,” Del groaned as Raelin worked a knot, her head falling forward. “That feels so good. Your hands are magic.”

Leaning down to place a gentle kiss on Del’s neck, Raelin growled, “My whole body is magic Darlin’. You just haven’t had the chance to experience the whole package yet.”

“Oh really? Am I allowed a small preview perhaps?” she asked with a grin, turning her head to catch Raelin’s lips in a kiss.

“Do you think that you have enough time?” Raelin murmured.

“Probably not,” Del replied, leaning back in for another kiss, this time reaching behind her to hold Raelin in place.

“Hold on.” Raelin quickly got up, and took off her shirt and returned to the bed, carefully stretching out on top of the blonde. Making sure that she didn’t put her full weight on Del but she still groaned at the contact. Leaning forward, she whispered into the blonde’s ear, “Close your eyes and see if you can smell the grass.”

Del did as she was asked, closing her eyes. She took a few deep breaths, each one causing more contact with Raelin’s skin. She quickly smelled the grass, and under it, the tang of the earth. “I can smell it and that tangy smell of spring too.”

“Okay, now I want you to feel me against you and I need you to concentrate on the way you want your body to feel.” Raelin unconsciously moved her hips against Del’s ass, and moaned underneath her breath.

Del was a little torn. She wanted to feel many things, less achy for one. On the other hand, she really wanted to feel her whole body warming as Raelin went to work on her. Her mind immediately drifted to the night in the glen; how Raelin had felt under her fingertips, then back to before, and how she felt with Raelin moving over her skin. Moaning at the memories, she pressed back into Raelin, feeling every point where they touched, each spot tingling with warmth.

Lifting up her hips, Raelin slid a hand down the back of the boy shorts and slowly entered her lover with three fingers. “You were thinking of this, weren’t you?” She started an easy tempo of thrusting.

Del gasped at the intrusion, but settled quickly into Raelin’s rhythm, fingers clutching desperately at the sheets. “Yes,” she breathed, green eyes opening to glance over her shoulder, looking for Raelin’s dark eyes.

“Look straight ahead Del...feel me.” The witch concentrated on bringing her lover to her release. She carefully kissed the shoulder wound, and blew a healing breath over it.

Closing her eyes Del let her sense of touch and hearing take over, the temporary blindness allowing her to feel the witches touch that much more acutely. She panted for breath as she felt her body tightening, muscles clenching as Raelin worked her core. Sensing the shift in Raelin’s body, she felt the kiss and soon after the gentle breath against her bad shoulder. She felt a heat, the tingling that came with Raelin’s healing ability, and much to her surprise; her whole body gave way in response, falling over the edge, and waves of pleasure rolling over her. It was gentle, but no less intense and she felt the warmth of Raelin’s love running over her, reaching the deepest parts of her. She felt a tear fall over her cheek and didn’t bother to hold it back, knowing she was safe in this vulnerable state with Raelin.

Slowing her thrust, Raelin pushed herself up with one arm and placed one more kiss on Del’s shoulder before she pulled out and licked her fingers clean. Carefully positioning herself beside the blonde, she peered at her face. “Are you all right my love?”

Smiling as she used her good hand to try and wipe her face. “I get any more all right and we’ll never leave this bedroom. That was the most quietly intense thing I’ve ever experienced. I felt you everywhere.”

“Like I said, my whole body is magic.” Raelin smiled. “Are you feeling better now?”

Del took stock; her aches were nearly gone, the constant pain in her shoulder was now a tolerable throb and her headache was all but gone. A slow grin spread over her face and she rolled carefully on top of Raelin, holding her weight with her left arm. “Yes, actually. Much better in fact,” she murmured into Raelin’s neck between kisses.

Moving her hair so that the blonde would have better access, Raelin moaned. “Good...aw, baby. I wish that you didn’t have to go, but you do,” she reached around and continued massaging Del’s lower back.

“Mmm sadly. I’d much rather spend the day in bed with you. You’ll be all right here with Jenny?” the detective asked, moving slowly across Raelin’s collarbone and shoulders, arch
ing her back into Raelin’s hands.

“We’ll be fine...I’ll have Rori use the cat brigade if something comes up. You Darlin’, be careful. Make sure that you keep the table between you and Sam.” Raelin was trying to keep a serious conversation going even though her body was screaming to let Del have her way.

Del sat up, flipping her long hair over one shoulder so she could peer down at Raelin, taking in her flushed face and lightened eyes. She ran her fingertips across Raelin’s tummy and around the curve of a breast, smirking all the while. “I could always call Jasper and tell him to wait on the questioning. Let the Chief stew in his little room a while. Get him good and anxious. It would leave me few extra minutes before I need to head into town.”

Inhaling sharply, Raelin stuttered out, “Ah...um...no, you need to go. There are girls out there who have family’s waiting on them, but just remember to come back home. Besides, Director Jacobs is waiting on you also, and I don’t think that you want to get on her bad side. “

“You know, I’m starting to feel like I do nothing but take from you,” Del said quietly, looking down at where her hand was spread across Raelin’s firm stomach.

Covering Del’s hand, the witch looked up into green eyes. “You give me more than you know. It isn’t all physical Darlin’. You give me love and the strength to face each day. I couldn’t ask for more.”

Del nodded leaning down for a quick kiss before she got off Raelin and headed to the bathroom to clean up.

The brunette closed her eyes and sighed. Rolling over, she got off the bed and pulled her shirt back on. Brushing her hair she leaned forward to look at the bruises on her neck; they were still pretty visible, so she ran her fingertips over the marks and watched as they became a bit dimmer. Nodding her satisfaction, she went downstairs to start breakfast.

Del had finished cleaning up and settling her thoughts. She finished buttoning her black oxford and tucked it into black pinstripe pants. She grabbed the matching fitted blazer and her gun holster and headed to where she knew she would find Raelin, probably fixing a breakfast in the kitchen. “I’m sorry about running off on you. I guess I need to trust that you’ll tell me is something is wrong or if you feel taken advantage of,” she said, entering the room and hanging both the jacket and the holster over the back of a chair.

Putting a plate of scrambled eggs, ham, and grits on the table; the witch leaned forward to kiss the blonde lightly on the lips. “There is no reason for you to apologize, so sit down, and eat. Kasey left a note saying that you should meet them at Jasper’s as soon as you can.”

Nodding, Del waited for Raelin to join her before she dug in. After savoring a few bites, she looked up at Raelin. “Where’s Jenny?” she asked.

“I think that she’s still asleep. I listened in and could hear her snoring. Yesterday was probably really stressful for her and she is still healing from the escape.” Raelin chewed on her piece of bacon.

“True, but I’ll bet a certain agent might have helped.” Del laughed, a mischievous grin plastered on her face.

“Maybe, I just don’t want her hurt any more than she already has been, with what her mother did, and finding out that her father is AJ Kingsley.” Raelin shook her head.

“I don’t think you need to worry about Kasey. She seems pretty smitten with Jenny. I saw the way Kasey put herself between Jenny and both you and Sumners yesterday,” she replied, finishing the last of her grits and finally digging into the bacon she saved for last.

“I hope so.” Raelin stood up and started to clean up.

Rori plodded into the kitchen and jumped up on his bench. “Just thought that you should know that Gus said that Chief Brito tried to resist arrest.”

“That’s because Chief Brito is an idiot who thinks he’s invincible,” Del responded, clearing her own dishes. “But that’s good to know. He’ll be livid once I get to him. Any other news from in town? What was the mood of the townies when he got hauled in?”

“Gus said that there was a lot of whispering going on and quite a few people looked uncomfortable, but when the Feds were overheard saying that the arrest was because of Brito’s money management, that seemed to calm some people down.” The feline stretched up against the fridge, impatiently waiting on his breakfast.

Chuckling at Rori’s antics, Del opened the fridge and looked down at him. “They were hoping to make it look like he got himself into trouble that was unrelated to what’s going on in the camps. Chicken again today?”

“Yes please, and you should know that the Kingsleys were there and Regina made quite a show at protesting, but that’s all that it was.” Rori walked in circles as he waited for his bowl to be filled.

“You’re awfully hungry today. What were you up to that worked up this kinda appetite?” Del laughed, quickly cutting up small bits and popping them into his bowl. “You want it warmed up?”

“Thank you, but no,” he rose up on his hind legs and stole a piece from the bowl as Delaney put it on his bench.

Raelin sat back down at the table, sipping a cup of tea. “You might want to go to Regina and give her an update on Jenny to keep her mind off Sam. It’s just an idea.”

Washing her hands Del nodded. “I think that’s a good idea. They’ll start to get suspicious of me too if I don’t keep checking in,” she glanced at the clock and saw they if she wanted in on the interrogation she had to leave now. She picked up her holster grateful she’d bought the ambidextrous design and carefully strapped it to her opposite shoulder. She adjusted it for a left hand draw, knowing her right arm wouldn’t be quick or steady enough with the tear in it. “I’m going to head into town now,” she said, picking her blazer up and folding it over her arm. “Jasper gave you the new cell phone the other day right? What’s the number?”

“It’s the same number, just a new phone. Call when you can, but I won’t call you as I don’t want to be a distraction.” Raelin let her eyes roam over her black clad lover. “Damn Darlin’ you look good enough to eat, and I mean that in every sense of the word.”

Del leaned down and gave her a short, but hungry kiss. “I’ll be home soon enough and I’ll take you up on it. Right now, I got me a Chief to fry. I love you and I’ll see you later.”

“I love you to Darlin’, and please be careful,” Raelin said. Watching the woman walk out, she muttered under her breath, casting a protection spell around the blonde.

Kasey watched the monitor with a certain measure of satisfaction as the Chief squirmed. Ryerson had spent the night rigging the room they were using as an interrogation room with mics and camera’s so Jasper could monitor from the next room over. In addition, it was being transmitted to the headquarters in Canal City where Kasey knew the Director would also be looking on. She glanced at her clock and turned to Ryerson. “We can’t wait on Delacroix anymore. We need to go in now. Jasper, you watch from in here. Send Del in when she gets here.”

Grabbing the files on the desk, she left the room and opened the next-door over walking in with a scowl, Ryerson following close behind. “Well Chief, looks like you’ve got yourself in quite a pinch doesn’t it,” she quipped tossing the files onto the desk.

Sitting up straight, Chief Brito attempted to pull off confidence that he didn’t have. “I have no idea what you are talking about.”

“Oh really? Well, let me spell it out for you. When the county gets a budget, it doesn’t usually include a horse-betting fund. Now, that being said, ain’t it funny how your bank accounts have multiple deposits on any given day that just so happen to add up to withdrawals from the county spending account? You really think that breaking the deposits up would cover it up? Come on Chief. You aren’t that stupid,” Kasey said evenly, pointing out the bank statements in question.

Looking at the statements, the man’s face paled, but he quickly schooled it back to impassive. “That’s not what it is...I’ve got investments that are doing very well, and it’s just a coincidence that the amounts are similar.”

Kasey nodded at the man. “Okay. Perhaps you can explain these arrests for me then. You don’t do too many arrests around here seems like you keep things under control so it shouldn’t be too hard to remember,” she held her hand out to Ryerson, who placed a second set of files in it. Tossing them to the Chief, she smirked, “Looks like you arrested people for some pretty minor offenses, but then let them go a few days later without even seeing a judge. Does the word extorting mean anything to you?”

Looking at the files, the man knew that he was sunk, but tried anyways. “Those people broke the law and I was just trying to give them a break by keeping their records clean.”

“Oh, come off it Chief. All of these arrests still have a paper trail and why then are there deposits to your own, within days of each one? We aren’t stupid Brito. You are so in the weeds right now. I bet you’re sweating bullets, aren’t you?” Kasey said, her face showing her disdain for the man.

Brito began twisting his hands in worry. He wasn’t supposed to be caught, he was the one that caught everyone else and always came out smelling like a rose. “I can pay it all back...it may take me a while, but I swear that I’ll do it.”

“Oh, paying it back is the least of your worries Brito. Now, we’ve got some questions for you big guy. Here’s hoping for your sake you can answer.” Kasey smiled as she sat on the table ledge across from the anxious man, while Ryerson leaned against the wall behind her. As she was about to continue the door opened and Delaney came marching through, smirking all the while.
