  Ruth Rendell is author of The Fever Tree and Other Stories of Suspense, Master of the Moor, Death Notes, Lake of Darkness, From Doon with Death, Sins of the Fathers, Wolf to the Slaughter, The Best Man to Die, and many other mysteries. She now has four major awards for her work: an Edgar from the Mystery Writers of America for her short story The Fallen Curtain; Current Crime’s silver cup for the best British crime novel of 1975 for Shake Hands Forever, the Crime Writers’ Association’s Gold Dagger for 1976’s best crime novel for A Demon in My View; and the 1980 Arts Council National Book Award in Genre Fiction for The Lake of Darkness.
