  Frozen Origin 1-Zeus

Origin is the best in the field of DNA research and they have finely tuned their craft. They started out with a line of supermen pulling all the best traits from the millions of human DNA samples they had available to them. These supermen were the smartest, fastest, strongest and most adaptable the human race had to offer, but Origin wasn’t satisfied. When they expanded their facility in Antarctica, they discovered something that made the next level reachable. These were the gods, so far beyond the abilities of man that even with some of their gifts still undiscovered, they put the supermen to shame.

Origin managed to get by with enslaving the products of their research for years until they rented the talents of those products to terrorists that used them against the US and her allies. A team was sent to free them and they were allowed to be an independent entity, free to rule themselves. They had much to overcome and Origin wasn’t ready to give them up yet. Origin fought hard to recover their losses, but the gods fought harder to remain free, especially once they realized that they could have a mate and children when they find the right woman.

Sierra, one of the team sent in to free them and Zeus, the leader of the gods, are the first to mate and have children.

  Frozen Origin Demons 1-Lucifer

Even the best in the field of DNA research still had those creations that didn’t quite turn out as hoped for. Those were considered mistakes, abominations otherwise known as the demons. Lucifer was their king and led them to a better, or at least tolerable life. While demons could fight like, well devils, they couldn’t be seen by humans. The people would go crazy if they saw horns, tails, and wings.

The funny thing was these beings had talent, amazing abilities. They could sing like birds and write the songs everyone wanted to hear. Another surprise was that if people thought the horns, tails, wings, and ridges were props, they loved them.

Now Lucifer had brought in a manager for their band who knows their secrets and the scary part is he wants her for more than her management talent. He’s running the other way more scared than he’s ever been. Will she catch him and make him see that they need each other or will he cause her more pain in his attempt to be free than she can ever overcome?

Danger also circles and they need to work together to escape it and be free and happy. Would Stef manage to catch Lucifer and remain unharmed through the danger that she has to face?

  Prologue

The place was crowded and it was Halloween, the one night of the year the demons could freely mix anywhere and fit in. It didn’t mean as much to Lu as it once had because his lively mate and the other demons had given him the acceptance he’d always longed for.

Stef was nearby watching as they played. This was a great gig on a tropical island frequented by the richest of the rich. Here were movers, shakers, and billionaires of all varieties. Wendigo was watching the crowd too, but he was looking for the one he would be in charge of and who could blame him? She’d worked for Origin and carried out some of their experiments.

Lu knew Win didn’t understand why he’d let her (Risa) come to stay with them, but he had his reasons. Zeus suspected Dr. Risa Howerton had been coerced. She refused to speak about Origin even when threatened with life in prison. Loyalty that great was usually given to someone you loved. Her sister Leann had been missing since Risa had gone to work for Origin, maybe before.

Sierra, Zeus’ mate had taken an interest in this case and an investigation was ongoing. Meanwhile Zeus had suggested Risa stay with the demons as their resident doctor. She would be training a small medical team including a demon studying medicine online who wanted to be a doctor. Medical facilities on the island were nonexistent currently so Lu had approved it.

Holy shit! Was that Risa standing in the doorway? The female was a knockout! Lu looked at Win who stood staring with his mouth open wide. Risa’s eyes moved around the room finally stopping on Win. Damned if she didn’t look poleaxed too.

Was it too much to hope that things would work out for the best for demons? Nay, it was Halloween and that was their holiday. This would be the start of something beautiful even if it came about painfully. Win might think it was a trick, but by the time all was said and done, he would recognize it for the treat it truly was.

  Wendigo

  Chapter 1

  Risa

Wendigo, called Win, not only because of his name, but because whenever he bet he would always win, came in and took up his flute. It added a haunting note at certain points in the song. Win looked Native American and he was about 6 foot eight inches, just a tad shorter than Lu. His build was medium, he looked neither like a weight lifter nor a runner, but his body was loaded with muscles that rippled with every move he made. He liked braids as well as beads, feathers and other adornments. His hair was black as a raven’s wing, and smooth and shiny. His skin was a caramel color and his eyes were like milk chocolate. He seemed to have no body hair at all, anywhere except his head. In his big hands, the flute looked small and delicate. His wings were as black as his hair, slightly smaller than Lu’s which made them easier to hide. His tail also fit down his pant leg, but unlike almost every other god, he had a birth mark that looked like a tattoo. Lu was sure it symbolized something because Win was very spiritual.

His tattoo looked like a raven and it was between his wings. It looked almost like a head rising out between the wings and ending at his neck. Its golden eyes were piercing and the beak was sharp and hooked. It looked as if it could tear flesh, but that was a fantastical thought. Even Lu with all his musing and dreaming didn’t think that was true.

It was amazing that so much was happening at this party tonight. They were making a fortune and Stef’s best friend was filming the event so they could sell their performance to TV stations that were already asking for the opportunity to buy it. Even had Stef not turned out to be his mate, he would never regret her being their manager. Right now their popularity was high and they were riding the wave. Money was rolling in, but they had to get it while they could.

There was no guarantee that they would be as well received tomorrow. Lu had decided to hope for the best, but plan for the worst. Stef had recommended a financial planner, but she was the best and very busy. It would six weeks before she combined a vacation and a visit to see them and discuss their portfolio. Meanwhile they had a full bank account and had begun some of the projects that would make their little island a better home including buying the rest of the island for themselves.

The song finished and they moved to the next one. This was a haunting love song that Win sang with his deep, but mellow voice. The women always went crazy when he sang and some inevitably threw themselves on the stage and had to be forcibly removed. They used to do that to him too, but it had finally gotten through to them that he was married and his wife was nearby. He didn’t miss the fangirl
s a bit. Stef had made him a happy demon. Win might have some of that happiness too if what Lu suspected was true.

Finally, it was time for a break and Lu made his way to the table in the corner reserved for the band and their guests. Stef sat there with Risa next to her and they were lost in conversation.

“Anything I need to know?” Lu asked casually.

“Risa and I were just discussing her quarters and the facilities available to her.” Stef explained.

“I’m sure you’ll love it there.” Lu said with a straight face.

“I’m certain of it.” Risa said, but her sarcasm wasn’t lost on him.

Lu decided to ignore her and concentrate on his mate instead. “How are you feeling?” He asked knowing the love he felt for Stef couldn’t be hidden and why would he bother?

His mate was showing with a well-rounded belly and the need for his attention both in and out of bed. He appreciated her voracious need for sex and hoped to have her in this condition often.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. There’s nothing wrong that some time in bed with you couldn’t cure.”

“How did I ever survive without you?” He leaned in and kissed her, unable to hold back another moment. His band made it back to the table with drinks and Win slammed a mug of beer down in front of him. The foam sloshed over the edge and pooled on the table. “Thank you for the drink.”

Win just nodded in acknowledgement and sat next to Lu and across from Risa. Lu noticed his second stared at the female whenever he thought no one was watching. There was a tension between them Lu recognized. He would give Win advice, but he knew he would do the opposite just because he could. As a leader, he knew when to back off, but Win would need his support later and he would be there for him.

Risa was nervous which, was not a surprise. Lu was sure she felt like she was stranded in enemy territory. Most of his people ignored her, but Win’s hostility was obvious. Risa caught Win staring, but she just looked away. Having her with them would be good for many reasons. One being Stef needed a woman around to talk to and socialize with.

“Hey, what are you thinking?” Stef asked.

Lu grinned. “I have the most beautiful woman in the world. She’s all mine and no one else can have her.” It had taken time, but Lu had finally learned about romance and admitted the deep feelings he had for his mate.

His guys teased him, but he only laughed at them. They were jealous and who could blame them? All of them would like to find their mate, even Win. Not that Win said he wanted to, he denied that he wanted one. Maybe Risa would prove to be his downfall. The bigger they were, the harder they fell. Lu himself had been definite proof of that. When Win fell, it would be hard and deep. Lu could hardly wait.

It was time for their last set of the night. This had been a fun party and he’d especially enjoyed watching Stef as she sang along while she rubbed her tummy. She’d even danced a little and he thought both her singing and dancing were good, but she was shy about being observed.

The first song he sung would be one that he’d written about how much he loved his wife and how he’d almost ruined things before they’d ever began. It was a regret he’d always have. He looked at Stef as he sang his heart out for her. Her eyes grew shiny and he suspected she battled tears.

He looked around and saw she wasn’t the only one in the crowd with shiny tear filled eyes and some of the women couldn’t hold the tears back. Risa wasn’t one of those. Her look was as warm as an artic wind. It was amazing the glass she sipped from didn’t frost over. Win would have his work cut out from what Lu saw.

By the time they were done, Lu was tired. Stef looked exhausted and he knew the little one took a lot out of her now that it was close to delivery. That was another reason he was glad to see Risa here with them. They didn’t have a doctor and she had a great reputation medically speaking. While her background wasn’t directly in pediatrics, she had worked with a doctor who was one of the best in that field. Once they were done for the night, they joined the women.

“Well, ladies, did you enjoy the music?” Lu asked.

Stef nodded enthusiastically. “You guys are considered the best.” Risa said.

“That’s not what I ask. I wondered if you enjoyed listening.”

  “Yes.”

“She’s overcome with emotion.” Stef teased and Risa flushed.

“You and the band are very good.” Risa admitted.

“Did someone get you a hotel room?” Lu asked.

“Yes, it was taken care of.” Risa agreed.

“The bar is closing down now and everyone will be making a mad dash for their rooms.” Stef explained. “We’re staying tomorrow and flying out Monday.”

Risa didn’t look surprised. “What are the plans for tomorrow?”

“We were going to visit some of the tourist spots and do some shopping. There’s also a restaurant everyone swears by. We want to go there too.”

“Is that a good idea?” Risa asked.

“People have adjusted to the way the guys look. They understand they are just eccentric.”

“If you say so. When do you want me to give you an examination?” Risa asked.

“Once we get back home will be time enough. I’m not having any unexpected complaints so there is no reason to worry.”

“Okay. I won’t worry then. Just let me know of any concerns as soon as you have them. I’ll just head to my room.”

“Okay. We’ll call you in the morning so we can meet for breakfast.” Stef offered.

Lu was glad everyone was turning in. He valued the time he had with his mate more than anything. They didn’t have the wild aggressive sex they used to have. It was sweeter and slower now out of his concern for the baby. Nothing would rush him or make him spend less time with this beautiful female he loved so dearly.

  Chapter 2

  See Me

Win had seen the female the second she entered the room and his gaze hadn’t left her the whole time. It made him angry that he felt so drawn to a woman that had worked for Origin and he didn’t want to hear any of the excuses Lu came up with to defend her. They all knew Lu was soft hearted to begin with, but now he was mated, it was worse. His mate was with child giving him the double whammy as far as being sympathetic of others went.

The woman was a looker, but there was something more that drew him to her. It made Win want to push her up against a wall and fuck her bowlegged. Once he got his desire under control, he’d just walk away. He knew she deserved that and much more. She was a doctor and they swore to do no harm. No one who worked for Origin could say they hadn’t done harm or at least turned a blind eye, while someone else did harm. Those doctors were the worst of all.

Since she was one of them then that made her a monster. Win had been called a monster all his life, yet he’d never enjoyed causing pain like some of the doctors that had worked for Origin had. He’d never hurt anyone that hadn’t deserved it and he’d not even enjoyed hurting or killing Origin minions when he’d had to.

Maybe he was just a new kind of monster. One that loved playing music and bringing happiness to the world. One with a live and let live mentality that wanted peace, love, and family for everyone. Win snorted to himself. Maybe Lu wasn’t the only hopeless dreamer among them. They all had a little bit of it inside.

It was ironic that an Origin doctor would come among them, a wolf among what once was sheep, and he would have daydreams of the perfect utopia they all wanted to create. If he could, he’d run her off, but he knew the choice to be here wasn’t hers. Lu had made up his mind and maybe he had information the rest of them did not, because Lu often played his hand where none of them could see.

Win admitted he’d been wrong before, and usually it was because Lu hadn’t told them the whole story. Right now he was against this woman being brought among them. He’d given Lu his thoughts on the matter and now he would shut up and keep an eye on things. If it didn’t work out, and he was sure it wouldn’t, he could gloat. If it worked out a
gainst all odds, he would point out he gave it all a fair chance. Win was feeling wise indeed as he floated off into dreamland.

He woke up all at once and sat straight up in bed. There was no doubt he’d dreamed vividly all night even if only scraps of the dream remained with him. Win rubbed his heart because it ached with thoughts of Risa. What the hell was wrong with him? It wasn’t like he didn’t know she was no good. That he wanted her wasn’t surprising, the female was beautiful. That he ached for her was disconcerting and unusual especially given what he knew about her.

Win saw it was time for him to get ready for the trip they had planned. It was almost certain Risa would be there too. He hated the need he felt for her which he didn’t understand. The woman was poison, but she appealed to him.

Dressed in black leather adjusted for his tail and wings, he was clean, good smelling, and from the looks females sent his way looking good like a bad boy should. He couldn’t say why he’d worn the outfit females usually loved. Okay, that wasn’t true. Risa would be there and if he was attracted to her, he’d make things equally rough on her.

“You’re looking hot as hell, Win.” Stef praised.

“Looking to impress?” Lu asked with a brow raised.

“You know me. Just continuing the show for the fans we’ll see.” Win answered.

“You’ll be sweaty and uncomfortable.” Risa guessed.

He knew she was probably right, but it pissed him off anyway. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.”

“I’m not worried.” Risa insisted. “Just a casual observation. Women have known since primitive times that you have to suffer to look good.”

“Thank you.” He replied with a superior smile.
