I stared at her, my mouth hanging open.
“I had a dream,” she confided in a hushed tone. “You talk to the animals, they help you find what you’re looking for.”
A mixture of hope and fear swirled inside me. Her predictions always came true in some form. I couldn’t afford to ignore her now.
DeeDee barked, Piss meowed, and God waved his tail.
Even though I couldn’t understand what they were saying, I knew we were all in agreement.
I had to see a shaman.

Hi!
I know what you’re thinking: why would she silence the animals? They’re one of the best parts of the story.
There’s actually an interesting story behind my rationale. While writing this book I had knee surgery. A side effect of the anesthesia was that I lost the ability to create for about a month. All the voices in my head went silent. It was horrible.
I’m accustomed to having all kinds of characters to keep me company at all times. It was very lonely.
Thankfully the effects of the anesthesia finally wore off and my characters came back.
Never fear, Maggie WILL regain the ability to talk to God, DeeDee and Piss in book 12!!!
