“I’m glad she’s yours. I’d be worn out after a week. I don’t have the tolerance for that. I like mine quiet and submissive, like my sweet Mary. My pet. She’s obedient with just a little bit of naughty.” He smirked. It was obvious to Noah that Mark adored his wife. He’d been friends with them for a long time and watched their relationship. He never thought he’d be lucky enough to find his own love, especially from a mail-order bride.
“I like her fire. She keeps me on my toes and I’m constantly having to find new and inventive ways to catch her and rein her in. I love it. Love the challenge.” He readjusted his pants. “I don’t know about you, but watching them both walk away with the tails coming out of their drawers almost did me in. Jesus, I hope I can last until tonight.”
“No kidding. I thought it was just me. Christ, this has got to be the hottest thing I’ve ever done.”
The women picked that moment to come into the room as both men were readjusting themselves. Daisy, who didn’t miss anything, scowled at Noah, shaking her head in disgust, muttering under her breath. “Here’s your lemonade.”
They both smiled sweetly at the men, and turned to leave.
Mark cleared his throat. “Mary.” He drawled her name out in his deep growly voice.
“Y-Yes, Sir.” Mary quickly pivoted back to face him, with her hands behind her back.
“Come here, please. I would like to inspect you.” Mary blinked at him and didn’t move until he dipped his chin, raising his eyebrows at her. This was good for Daisy. She needed to see how a well-behaved wife and pet responded to her husband and Master.
Mary obediently moved to stand in front of her husband.
“I thought I’d have to paddle your ass,” Mark said, his eyes narrowing for a moment. “It’s a good thing you moved when you did.” He patted her hip. “Now turn around and bend over. I want to check your tail, sweetie.”
Mary whined, turning slowly and bending at the waist, her bottom right in front of him. Noah decided at that very moment that he needed to spend a lot more time around Mark and Mary.
Mark pushed on the tail, making Mary grimace and gasp. Then he grasped the horsehair, pulling up on the tail, checking that it was securely in place. Mary let out an “Ow” and quickly bit her lip to keep any more outbursts from occurring.
“Seems to be in securely, girl.” He slapped her bottom hard enough that she had to brace her hands on the table in front of her to prevent herself from falling forward. “How about you go cook our dinner? I think Noah and I are feeling hungry.”
Poor Mary. She stood up, looking like she hoped the floor would swallow her up. Her cheeks and neck had a red blush and she stared at the floor, refusing to make eye contact with anyone. She quickly left the room with Daisy on her heels, Noah’s wife not wasting the opportunity to shoot a glare at the men on her way out.
Mark advised Noah. “You better start keeping that little gal you have a little off center. Some forced submission activities like what I just did will remind her who’s in charge and to whom she answers. Just a suggestion, but she’s got a little too much attitude as far as I’m concerned. I know you said you like it and all, but Jesus, that’ll get old fast.”
Noah didn’t take offense. He trusted Mark like family. He’d never steered him wrong professionally, and Noah very much wanted a relationship like Mark and Mary had. He’d heed the advice. “I will. Thank you, I do need help with this, with knowing what the right path to take is.”
Mark waved him off. “You’re doing fine. You’re much further along than I was at this point in our marriage. You’ll grow into this, trust me. Feel free to ask questions whenever you wish though. I’m glad to help you, if I can.”

Daisy and Mary had done little talking as they cooked dinner. The discipline had subdued both of them, and they were both content to quietly cook side-by-side without words. They brought the stew and bread into the dining room, which adjoined the parlor.
Noah spoke up first. “Bring the food in here, pet. It’ll be easier for you to eat out here.”
What does that mean?
Daisy and Mary walked out with the trays of food, putting them on the table. Mark picked up two of the bowls of stew and put them on the mantle. “You two will eat over here. It’ll be easier for you to stand with your tails, and this way Noah and I can enjoy looking at your asses while we eat our dinner.”
“You have got to be kidding me! There’s no way in Holy Hell that I’m standing there!” Daisy crossed her arms over her chest. She’d refuse to move if she had to — this was beyond rules of common decency.
“Daisy!” Noah barked. “If I have to get up to make you move, you’ll be sorry. Move to the mantle. Now!” Daisy’s stropping still hurt enough that she didn’t want an additional taste of the paddle or switch. Reluctantly, she moved to the mantle to stand next to Mary, who’d already obediently taken her place there as ordered.
Mark came and stood next to Daisy. “Miss Daisy, I just want to point out to you how patient your husband is being. Ask Mary. She’ll tell you what would’ve happened if she’d responded as you just did. There’s a reason Mary went straight to the mantle. I just wanted to let you know that he shows much greater restraint than I would even try to show.” He squeezed her shoulder as he walked away, and Daisy felt guilty. She didn’t want to treat Noah poorly — but in comparison to Mary she already felt like she’d fallen short.
She didn’t want Noah to feel that her reluctance — or refusal — to obey immediately was due to his inability to master her. He’d been nothing but loving and kind. Sure, he was sometimes strict and firm, too, but he was always a gentleman. She just didn’t respond well to orders and demands. She needed to learn to be better at it though.
She watched Mary obediently standing with her arms behind her back. Her face showed no anger or frustration. Daisy wondered if she’d ever reach that point someday, that state of calm acceptance. She hoped she would, and she wanted Noah to be proud of her. Mark must have felt proud of Mary tonight. Her response to those outrageous orders and the humiliation had been admirable.
Noah spoke softly behind them. “You women can start to eat now. You don’t want your food to get cold.”
Daisy and Mary ate silently while the men talked about training horses, what works and doesn’t work.
Every once in a while one of them would say something to them. “Mary, stick your bottom out further, please.” Or “Wiggle your asses so your tail swishes.” Or “Turn sideways so we can see your breasts and your tail. Thank you.”
If they were trying to wear them down, it’d worked. Daisy found herself following commands that she never thought she’d ever do in a lifetime. But she did them without whining or complaining. She did them, even though she thought it’d kill her, with a smile on her face. She wanted to make Noah proud, wanted him to feel that he had control of his wife too. And she’d been rewarded with those winning smiles of his and a couple “good girls” and “that’s my pet.”
Chapter 22
Mark and Mary were going to be sleeping in the guest room, and Mary felt totally exhausted. She stood by the side of the bed, waiting for Mark to come upstairs from saying goodnight to Noah. The room had been decorated in shades of yellow and pale blue — very happy and cheery. The blue curtains made the room feel calm and cool. She ran her hand over the pale yellow chenille bedspread and pulled one of the down pillows to her chest, dropping her head onto it. She swore she could sleep standing up tonight. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d had a day with this much activity. She wanted to collapse into bed and sleep with no interruptions. She’d beg for an orgasm tomorrow.
She tossed the pillow back onto the bed, excited to fall into the soft bed and forget about this day. That was how she felt until she looked over to see her husband standing in the doorway, his intent gaze moving from her ass to her breasts and back again. Obsessed.
Well, I’m not sleeping any time soon.
She enjoyed sex wit
h Mark and enjoyed pony play with him, but sometimes she just wanted to sleep. It seemed he could be aroused and wanting sex in the middle of pneumonia, headaches, or any ailment. He just never seemed to be distracted from his sexual desires — ever. And yet, if she truly seemed too tired, he’d take pity on her and just cuddle until she fell asleep.
“Hey, pet, are you ready for this to come out?” He tugged on her tail and the pull on the plug went straight to her clit. Her hips thrust. It wouldn’t take much to bring either of them to completion tonight. He laughed. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
He reached over onto the washstand and brought a cloth over to the bed. He pulled the pillow to the edge of the bed, bending her over it and slowly pulling the tail out. “Stay in position.” He moved the plug to the washstand and quickly divested himself of his clothes.
Undoing the ties at the back of her drawers, they slid down her legs, pillowing at her feet. He pressed his turgid cock into the crevice of her ass, thrusting and pushing. Her clit quickly pulsed and she ground it on the pillow, ramping up her arousal.
Mark, of course, knew her motive, his hands clamping upon her hips, pulling her off that pillow. “You will not come until I say so, girl.” He slapped her ass several times, and then quickly knelt between her legs, pressing his face into her pussy. His tongue pushed into her, licking and sucking until she couldn’t keep quiet, her moans and whines louder with each breath. He slid his tongue down to her clit and circled the little nub, and she pushed herself back onto his face, trying to bring herself to orgasm until he stayed the movement of her hips with his hands again.
She growled in frustration, his chuckle against the lips of her cunt felt more than heard. He pulled himself to a standing position and his hot, stiff cock entered her, pushing to the hilt in one deep, hard thrust. The force of the entry made her throw her head back and growl in satisfaction as he filled her, pounding hard. Her clit pressed into the pillow, the cotton pillowcase abrasive against her swollen flesh as she ground into the fabric, timing it with his thrusts, his panting breaths increasing as she, sympathetically, responded to his imminent release by climbing toward her own.
But it wasn’t until he pushed his fingers into her ass that she cried out her release. His warm semen filled her and wave after wave of her orgasms shook her body until a second orgasm overtook her body, squeezing his cock like a vise until she heard him growl with discomfort. She tried burying her shouts into the pillow as she shook, her body spasming. But she knew her efforts to stay quiet had failed when Mark started to laugh.
“Oh, God. Do you think they heard us?”
“They’d have to be sleeping at our house to not hear us. I’m sorry, Mary, but you weren’t successful at all. Ought to make breakfast interesting.” He pulled his semi-erect cock out of her, helping her into bed and spooning behind her. He stroked her hair behind her ear, petting and combing through it with his fingers. “You were such a good girl today. You made me proud. Such a good pet.”
She’d be mortified tomorrow. How would she ever look Noah in the eye again?
She couldn’t remember the last time an orgasm had rocked her body to that level though. Pleasure such as that was worth every bit of embarrassment.
* * *
Daisy knew she’d made a lot of noise with her orgasm, but in comparison to Mary, she didn’t feel as embarrassed this morning. She didn’t think anyone made eye contact today. They quickly ate their breakfast and she and Noah accompanied the couple to the end of the road. They watched Mark and Mary walk toward home, until the couple disappeared from sight down the road.
Noah decided that they should go to town for some supplies, so they both dressed for the journey. Climbing over the hill — which had once been green with spring rain and dew — they found now brown, hard clay, the grass burned up by the heat of the summer sun. A haze covered the horizon making the plains appear as if shrouded in smoke. It’d be another hot summer day in Nebraska.
But part way there, Daisy started to feel nauseated, and eventually made Noah stop so she could throw up at the side of the road.
Daisy put a shaky hand to Noah’s arm. “It’s just so hot today, and we were up so late last night, I’m thinking my body is just not adjusting well. Can you just bring me home, Noah? I’ll take a nap while you’re out and then when you get done with purchasing the supplies, you can wake me up to help you put them away.”
“I’ll bring you home, but you’ll sleep all afternoon. I don’t need help putting some supplies away. Obviously, you need sleep.”
He slapped the reins on the horse, turning them toward home.

Willie stood in the barn, watching them leave. He’d overheard Noah tell Mark that he and Daisy would be going to town for supplies. That would give him a couple hours inside the house alone to find the ring. He waited a reasonable amount of time after they’d left before heading for the house.
He climbed the steps into the farmhouse. Noah had done a good job building this house. It had sturdy beams and the walls looked to be strong. It’d withstand any storm. The windows, though few, were still of higher quality than most houses he’d seen. Noah had told him that he liked a house that had daylight pouring through the windows. It made a home cheery. Willie had to agree, it made their house much brighter, the interior seeming to gleam in the light of day.
He wandered through the rooms. They had a dining room and a parlor downstairs, and a bedroom, with the remaining bedrooms on the second floor. If he couldn’t find the ring in the ground floor bedroom, he’d look in the rooms upstairs. The kitchen was off the back door and back porch. It had windows that looked out onto the porch toward the barn and the window over the sink afforded a view across the plains toward town.
The staircase upstairs was by the front door, just to the right of the parlor. He took the stairs, each of them creaking and moaning with his weight. At the top of the stairs were two bedrooms, one to the left and one to the right. Apparently, Mark and Mary had stayed in the room to the left; the sheets had been taken off the bed and put in a rumpled pile on the floor for Mary to wash when she returned to the house this week.
He continued down the hall, passing a small room to the right that appeared to be a sewing room, which he thought would be a good candidate for conversion to a nursery someday. He wondered if Noah had considered that when he’d built the house. Having the nursery next to the parents’ bedroom seemed to be a good idea. He’d remember that for when he built his house for his own wife and family.
He entered the bedroom, a large bed occupying the center of the space. There were two chairs on either side of the fireplace, and an armoire, presumably for their clothing. There was a large trunk at the end of the bed.
He looked under the bed, and sure enough there were two boxes. He opened the first one and it was filled with letters. Letters from Jesse to Daisy while he was at war. He pulled out a couple and started reading one of them:
My darling Daisy,
War is so much more than I thought it would be. Some of the men have no shoes and others have no coats. The stench of infection and dirty bodies is stifling and it’s a daily struggle to sit upwind of it. I miss my bed and the simple things. I miss beef roasts, apple pie, and fresh lobster and shrimp from the ocean. I can’t wait to see you again. Soon, we’ll defeat these damn Rebels and I’ll be on my way. Until then, stay safe.
I Love You, Jesse
He put the letters back in the box. He felt like he was invading her privacy reading any further. They were love letters, and considering the fact that Jesse was dead, it felt like he’d be violating the soldier as well — even if he was a damn Yankee.
He put the cover back on the box, stooping down to put it back under the bed.
“What’re you doing in my bedroom! Get out!” Daisy rushed forward, grabbing the box from his hands. “Those are my letters from Jess. They don’t belong to you! You had no right!”
She lunged forward and shoved him hard enough that he stagg
ered backward a couple steps, trying to gain his footing.
He looked down the hall. “Where’s Noah?”
“He’s going to town to get supplies. I didn’t feel well and had him bring me back. I swear he’ll skin you alive when he comes back.”
“No, he won’t. ‘Cause I’ll be gone by the time he comes back. I’m here for a purpose, and once that purpose is done, I’m outta here. I’ll be so far gone, y’all will never find me.” He pulled the gun out of the back of his pants. “You sit down over here.” He pointed to the chair with his gun. “Don’t move neither.”
What in the hell was he supposed to do now? Her coming back home had threatened to ruin his entire plan. He needed to get that damn ring and get out of here before Noah returned. He only had a couple hours. He just had to get her to cooperate.
“Now, you’re going to listen, and listen good.” Willie waved the gun in her direction. He needed her to understand how grim the situation was. “I need you to give me something, and I don’t want any lip about it neither. It belongs to me — my family — and it was given to you wrongly.”
“I’m not giving you anything,” Daisy said, her eyebrows furrowed. “And how would anything be given to me by mistake? I don’t know your family at all. We didn’t even live near each other. Didn’t you say you were from Louisiana?”
“Yes, but those damn soldiers took something that belonged to my brother — and gave it to you. My brother shot your husband and, well, for that I’m sorry. But your husband shot my brother too. And the soldiers that knew your husband took something off my brother and said it was yours. But it ain’t. It belongs to me, now that he’s died.”
“Well, you know what. Why would I believe you? I have no reason to believe you at all. The soldiers said it was on his body. What proof do you have that it wasn’t on my husband’s body?”
