He gave her a wicked grin. “So…you like what you see?”

Good Lord. The man was magnificent.

Oh, what a lucky woman I am!

She nodded, unable to wrap her tongue around words.

Like a big, sleek, cat, he crawled toward her and pounced. “I’m not letting you get away.”

He took her mouth in a bruising, sensual kiss, sending shock waves through her. Her cheeks burned when she felt her nether regions clench as moisture seeped from her aroused body. Was that supposed to happen? Oh, my, she’d never experienced anything like it in her eight and thirty years on this earth. She moaned as he slipped a hand between her thighs and touched her hidden pearl, turning her insides to molten lava.

When he slid a finger inside, she almost came off the bed. “Easy. Just relax. You’ll like this, I promise.”

She settled against the pillow and tried to relax, but her muscles were wound tight. He toyed, and stroked; they liquefied. She couldn’t have stood if she tried. She was actually panting. Where was the pain she’d heard about? Not that she wanted any.

His breathing was coming out faster, and his sex grew longer and thicker between her splayed thighs. He nudged her legs farther apart and growled as he entered her, one inch at a time. There was fullness, but still no pain. He’d started a rocking motion that pushed him in a little farther each time.

He murmured against her lips, “This may hurt. I promise, it will be fleeting.” He thrust inside her, breaking through the thin membrane of her maidenhead. A sharp stab of pain passed quickly as he filled her all the way to her womb. He stilled, giving her time to adjust.

Trailing kisses across her jaw and down the side of her neck, delicious whorls of desire invaded every part of her body. At last, he began to move. Slow at first, but once her body opened for his invasion, he picked up the pace. Pushing in and almost out, ever faster.

A coil grew tighter and tighter with each thrust until she feared, yet craved, splintering apart. And…then it happened. She flew to the stars, just like he’d promised.

With one final thrust, he cried out, “Yes, oh yes, my love.” He slumped against her, and she wrapped her arms around him, keeping him close.

Once their hearts slowed, and their breathing returned to normal, he pulled out and rolled on his side. They lay for a long time with him stroking her damp hair back from her face.

While lying boneless from the most incredible experience of her life, she grew a little uncomfortable. Her sex felt swollen and it stung, but she didn’t care. It was worth any discomfort. He must have sensed it though. “My sweet love. Let me get something to sooth you.”

Not sure what he meant, she felt the loss of his warmth keenly when he climbed from their bed. She sighed, but he quickly returned with a warm cloth and parted her legs. She clamped them together. “What are you doing?” she asked, her cheeks growing hot.

“As your husband, it is my right and my privilege to administer to your needs. Let me take care of you.” His concerned expression tore at her heart, so she relaxed and let him wipe his seed away. When he finished, he returned to her side and pulled her close. “I hope I didn’t cause you too much discomfort?”

She gave him what was surely a besotted smile. “It was worth it. The pain was fleeting, as you said, the pleasure…beyond any of my fantasies.”

His chest rumbled beneath her ear as he chuckled. “So…you liked it, did you?”

“Even more than I expected.” She raised her head and met his gaze. “When can we do it again?”

He laughed. “It depends on how sore you are, and of course, it takes me time to recover my strength.” He gathered her close. “Sleep, and when you awake in a few hours, we will see how you feel.”

She yawned. “I do feel a little sleepy. Perhaps a short nap, but awaken me when you’re strong again.” Her words trailed off as she let sleep take her away.

She awoke, feeling warm and content. Snuggling close to the source of the warmth, she realized it was her sleeping husband. An array of emotions rushed through her. She loved Robert with every fiber of her being and would until she drew her last breath. He stirred, drawing her close.

“I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” He stretched. “How are you feeling, still sore?”

Her sex tightened with anticipation. “No, not at all. Robert?”

  “Yes, my love?”

“Thank you for loving me, and for saying I’m beautiful.” Her throat tightened. “No one has ever told me that before.”

“Then they were blind.” He pushed up against the pillows, pulling her with him, then he turned her face and gazed into her eyes. “While your outward appearance is exquisite to look at, you’re even more radiant inside. You’re brave, and you love deeply. I thank God for bringing you into my life. It’s much richer and so is Melissa’s. She desperately needs your guidance. I’ve already seen a change in her over the past twelve days.”

“Oh, Robert, I love both of you so much. I promise to watch over her,” she earnestly pledged, “and teach her what she’ll need to know to move about in society…and more importantly…to protect herself from men who prey on innocent young women.”

His whiskey-colored eyes turned tender, and so full of love, her heart ached. “I know you will. Millie, let’s remember that together we’re stronger. While we may have difficult times ahead, it’s part of living. We will face them together, and our unwavering love will see us through.”

He gently kissed her, but his kisses quickly turned carnal, and he showed her…all over again how much he loved her. As she slipped off to sleep, a deep peace pervaded her soul. She was loved, and she would never need to live in fear again. Now she could embrace her future, knowing Robert…would always…be at her side.
