A Life Plan Without You. Page 14

by Christine Wood

“What would you have done if I hadn’t passed the interview then? I haven’t yet, had the opportunity to deflower anyone’s daughter. But there’s time, the day’s still young.” He put his hand around my waist, as we passed first contact alley. He smirked.

“I like that alley, umm nice memories there Mi cielo. So, when do we get to the deflowering of Michelle then?” I looked up catching flies.

“Slow down I’m still recovering from last night. When, it happens it happens. I would by the way, not have asked if you had passed the interview, if, I hadn’t noticed how you charmed their pants off.” A grin was plastered all over his face; he was in smug mode! Lord help me.

“You did a good job on Mum, too. She’s singing your praises this morning, much to Jimmy’s annoyance, she actually said to him, that you had the same name as that girl he’d talked about, you know the one that helped with your accident last year isn’t that funny? I topped it by saying she’s the same Michelle Mum. So you’re her hero you saved baby boy.” My smug face moment, I loved it.

“I didn’t know you were going to another university, one that’s far away Sam?” I looked to him for a reply.

“We haven’t talked about much, so we will have to start doing that too. I’m actually, looking at Manchester and Preston they do a better degree course, so I will be able to stop at home. You, what are your plans Michelle when you leave college?” Oh, I’d known what I was doing, for years and I already had a life plan, until two days ago, then I got that kiss from Sam.

“I’m going to be a chef and go in the Royal Navy Sam as I have always wanted to be a wren. I have exams to do first. I want go into officer training, at Britannia Royal Naval College, at Dartmouth.” I looked at him he was deep in thought.

Hell, I didn’t see that one coming, that means she will be away lots and with rampant sailors, fuck I don’t want her to leave me not now, not now that I have just found her, not after having those kisses, and giving her first orgasm…

“That’s a fantastic plan, why the Royal Navy though?” I think he’s a little disappointed with my life plan.

“It’s not set in stone Sam, I’m just keeping my options open, the naval life seemed to be all I could think of, to get away from here. See the world have a career and good prospects. Last year an uncle, who’s in the navy too, shattered the illusion by informing me that wrens do not go to sea. They are land-based support, but they do travel. So when I passed the entrance exam for the catering college at Stockton, I did that to kill time and get the exam results I need, I have my 10 CSE’s I have my five O’s already, and I just need two of my five A levels, that I’m doing at college, to get in. I can’t join until I get the A levels, and the next intake after the exams, is after my nineteenth birthday, and I may have to go to university too, if I don’t get the grades in these exams.

I love to cook and love food with a passion, I only get chance to practice Sundays, at my Nan and Grandad’s, she is a fantastic home cook.” I realise I’m talking too much and stop, he is so deep in thought and he is holding me tightly. “Sorry I warble on when asked a question.” I sighed.

“This is nice hearing your plans, has to be said I’m glad you’ve got plans, always good to have a plan and stick to it. Nineteen is long way off though.”

We will be married if I have my way, and before she goes in the dratted navy, with a ring on her finger and me following her, here there and everywhere.

He’s right a lot can happen in a year, he may be on to pastures new by then. We talked all the way to town, where we met a friend of his from work.

“Sam fancy coming, for a pint, your round?” He looked down at me, for a reply.

“Do you fancy, something to eat in there?” I nodded nervously back.

“I don’t know Sam, dad has always said I can’t go in pubs, but he did say I was all right with you, can I have a coke please, I don’t drink and God I’m boring you aren’t I?” He laughed and shook his head.

“Come on we’re wasting good drinking time, Sam. She’s, not imaginary this girlfriend then?”

“Michelle this is Dave, who I work with, the guy at the table there is Stuart, I go to uni with him, and the other one at the bar is Ben, everyone, this is Michelle.” I gave Dave a look.

“Last time I looked I was entirely real, Dave.” Stuart looked up.

“Sit yourself down, I’m pleased to meet you, we’ve heard a lot about you, he’s not stopped talking about you for weeks. Sam you’re getting the drinks in.” He blushes, oh that was quite sweet and he gets them in, whilst I sit nervously watching. He looks happy enough as he turns around, keeping an eye on me. He chats to the lad Ben and laughs and they both then look at me. I scanned the room loads of lads, a few girls and a group of elderly people watching television in the opposite corner.

“So she said yes then? And yeah you were right she is nice looking, she looks worried though, what’s Dave doing, chatting her up?”

“Yeah, I asked her on Friday, shit I still can’t believe she said yes! Dave’s not got a chance in hell she packs a mean punch. She can’t be as nervous as I just was, I had to meet her parents and grandparents, now that was a worrying time.”

“So has she had the pleasure yet, has Wam-Bam made his appearance?”

“No and for fucks sake keep it down, and yes she knows I was a man whore before, she just doesn’t know about the name, and no I told you, she is special and we are waiting!”

  “As in we or her?”

“As in me waiting for a while longer, if you weren’t my best friend I wouldn’t even be telling you all this!”

“Umm pay back for months of listening to you talk on and on about her, but yeah you are right if she’s special, wait and do it properly. Cheers for the pint, get back before they strip her, Dave’s well into her!” I carry the drinks over. I catch the last part of the conversation and she’s relaxed and chatting to them…

“I don’t come out much, but it’s nice to finally meet Sam’s friends. I had begun to think that he hadn’t actually got any.” His stalking duties must have taken up a lot of time. Sam was now back drinks in hands, passing me my drink and scooting in besides me.

“I’m sure you will be fine, stop panicking, please stop worrying about it.” I wasn’t drinking, but worry I did.

“What do you do then Michelle?” Stuart asked.

“I’m just finishing college and I’ll be finishing as a chef, and then I hope to get into the Royal Navy. It’s going to mean a whole lot more studying and time in University, but I think one worth the hassle in the long run.” Sam put his hand on my knee and rubbed it softly.

“What you do for fun then Michelle?” Stuart asked.

“I actually like to dance, read and play hockey.” I was worried in case I’d let Sam down, he smiled as the onslaught of questions rained down.

“Nice, what sort of dancing then?” Oh, this is turning into thirty questions.

“I actually do ballroom, I take lessons, and teach it.” Sam was silent, but still playing with my thigh.

“Nice, what are you up to at the weekend, up to coming out Saturday then? Sam’s not been out in ages. When was it Sam, New Year’s Eve?” He rubbed my thigh, I’m unsure why, but the feelings are rising again, was he turning me on, just by touching my thigh?

“We’ll see about the weekend, I’m sure if I can’t make it, there’s no reason you shouldn’t go Sam.” He stopped rubbing my thigh and squeezed my knee.

“Will give it some thought, I’m not sure what we’re doing yet, if I do Michelle, you’re coming too.” With that Dave and Stuart, both bid their farewells and they were off. We finished our drinks and he kissed me.

“Do you fancy going somewhere else for something to eat?” I nodded. “Where, do you want to eat?”

“I’m in the mood for burger, is that ok with you?”

“Do you not want to try the new French place or the Italian? I thought I was treating you to dinner?”

  “And you are, I do
n’t get to have burgers, and believe it or not I eat out in posh restaurants all the time, with Aunty Liz. So no, I’d love a Wimpy their burgers are just what I fancy, but, if you want we can go and sit and eat in a restaurant Sam? I’m really all right as long as you’re there.” He helped me to my feet and kissed me again, I could stay all day in his arms given the chance.

“Hello stranger, what you doing handsome?” I looked up, and a girl had her arms around Sam’s waist. “Oh sorry I didn’t realise you were with company, introduce me then Sam?” Get your bloody hands of my man, you bitch.

Shit what the hell does she want, and groping me, is so not happening, but she is fragile and drunk and is liable to hit out at Michelle, so I can’t risk it until I get Michelle from her within reach! She needs to let go and start afresh with someone else, but she and Andy have a thing, I’m not sure what sort of thing but a thing that’s twisted and messed up, and I don’t want any of it to touch Michelle in any way shape or form…

“This is Zoë, Zoë this is my girlfriend, Michelle.” He smiles and ushers me to the door away from her, he wants to get me away from her, why because this is the other girlfriend? I’m positive that she’s an ex by the way she had draped herself over my man. Sam was looking sheepish too. He looked down at me. Why don’t you stop the woman? I’m just in the mood to slap her stupid, she still had her hands around his waist, why hadn’t he taken them away and did he like it and her? What was going on between them? He took my hand, shrugged her arms from his waist, he looked into my eyes and kissed me.

“Come on then, Michelle, let’s eat I’m famished, I’ll tell Andy I’ve seen you then shall I? I’m not being funny Zoë, but keep your paws to yourself. You’re a little worse for wear. May I suggest you go home and sleep it off? Michelle, are you ready baby?” I nodded and without a second glance backwards, we were out of the pub and heading to the cafe.

“I’m sorry about that, she’s Andy’s ex and is a bit touchy feely, they recently split up, he was, sorry, is devastated by it all.” I smiled. Yes, she was still too touchy feely, for my liking too, my bitch hackles are up with her.

That was a close thing Zoë is a strange girl and from what she has stood and watched me do I can only imagine she is as messed up as all Andy’s others, but Michelle doesn’t need to see that side of things, well for a little longer. I thought she’d spill more family secrets before I’m ready to tell Michelle, I want a few weeks of having a normal relationship before any of our shit affects her and she runs and as fast as those legs will carry her…

“I thought for a minute she was your ex and was about to tear her hair out, but didn’t want throwing out of the bar, on my first visit.” He grabbed my hand tighter and pulled me into his arms and kissed me, oh, what, this man, had my heart, would kissing him ever get dull? I loved every sultry thing he made my body do from a simple kiss to, last night’s happenings. Sam made me feel needed and wanted.

“I don’t approve of cheating. One girl at a time Michelle, you’re all I have wanted for quite a while baby. You sure burgers are all you want?” I think I gulped, because he smiled.

“I would love a whole lot more of you, but will make do with a burger thanks.” He smiled.

“Plenty of time Michelle, food first and we will see about the rest, later.” We had arrived at the local burger place. He opened the door and waved me through.

“Michelle after you, your table awaits, you sure this is all you want, I can afford the other places?” He grabbed another feel of my bum, as I passed. I needed the loo, so asked that he ordered mine. We sat down, to eat and he'd ordered the biggest burger on the menu, and sheisk if I thought eating an egg mayo sandwich was bad, this was going to be an equally challenging experience. He was laughing at me again.

“I’m sure it will be fine, it is a little big though?” Smiling cutely back at him.

“I’m sure you will be okay with it.” As sure as today was Sunday, I did it, whilst trying to look demure eating it, hell epic fail, oh hell no, oh crapshoot bummer… Shit I did it. I’d dripped tomato sauce down my front, it looked like the nose bleed from hell…

“Shit you can’t take me anywhere.” I grabbed my serviette to do some damage control. At the same time Sam, was helping himself, to a free pass of my chest and was busy wiping it for me.

I gently wiped the red stain from her top, she blushed as my hand touched her breasts, umm a perk of being a caring boyfriend I get to ‘help’, she laughs as I notice she is now letting me do all the wiping away, wow she has a damn pretty laugh…

“Are you enjoying, yourself there Sam?” He was doing it to me again, the stirring of those alien feelings. “Samuel, not in a burger joint and there’s a time and place, take your hands from my chest please, you naughty boy. I’m going to slap your hands.” With a massive grin on his face, he stopped what he was doing and leant in for a kiss.

“Oh yes please that sounds, like fun.” At that moment our lips still locked, Karen and her lot walked in. Oh a result as the voices in my head were now throwing a ticker tape parade.

“We have an audience Sam.” My eyes pointed at the door, as they kept to the other side of the room, I was so happy here with him and her looking in.

“Do you want to go Michelle, because we can scoot of somewhere else?” He held my knee tightly.

“No I’m going to be fine, just kiss me please.”

“My pleasure as if I need any asking.” He began rubbing my knee and thigh, wow I’m in heaven, as usual at the hands of Sam. Our tongues danced again. Burgers finished, well between kisses they were.

“Are we going to the pictures then or what?” I nodded. We still had an audience, getting up to leave he hugged me so tightly. I think mainly for the benefit of the group which included Karen. That felt so good and still holding my hand we passed them. I couldn’t just ignore her however Sam beat me to it and bid her farewell. I just smiled and waved my hand at her.

“See you Kazza.” I had him and he was mine, we walked out hand in hand, into the afternoon sunshine…

“Thanks for that, I’m, sure she is throwing daggers. Quick check, see if there, are any hanging in my back.” He laughed and put his arm around my waist brought me round to his lips, the kiss sent those feelings raging through my entire body again from toe to head. That moment was the best ever, he had shown the whole world, well her at least, that he wanted to be with me and that we were an item. We walked arms around waist to the pictures, tonight was a special showing of Greece and Saturday Night Fever, and I absolutely loved those films. It was mushyness at its best. This however would be the first time with a boyfriend, and what a date to bring, if he could and would sit through a girl film.

“It’s up to you, if you don’t fancy it, I know they’re a girl films, but I’m okay with doing whatever and it doesn’t start for an hour or so what do we do until then?” He looked at me with eyes that you could easily fall in love with, and I had, deeply…

This is what you do on dates right? You take your girl to the pictures, you get them dinner, though I would have preferred a classier place for our first date than a burger bar, sheisk she is so not what I expected, but then again I didn’t know what to expect? I do know going to the cinema is to show me off! I’m not stupid I know having never having had a boyfriend she wants to show me off to her friends, she smiled as I asked her again, and it was then I realised that’s what it meant to her, she wanted validation that I wanted to be with her and boy did I want to be there for her, so what if I have to share her for a few hours, it’s what she wants…

“It’s up to you, Mi cielo, whatever you want to do we can do?” Looking at his face, I wanted him to say yes of course I want to go with you, but why would he want to sit with a very large group of friends who in the main were fine, they all at some time or another had taken a date to watch either or both films I was the only one who never had, I was forever the wallflower looking at them and their dates through envious eyes.

“Why don’t we go in t
here for quiet drink, on our own, talk, and umm some more kisses and wait and see who turns up?” He didn’t argue just held open the door. Ben was still at the bar, but someone else had joined him, Sam waved at the new bloke and I sat in the same spot as before, the new bloke came across.

“Michelle, this is our Andy. Andy, Michelle.” He looked a little like Sam, but slightly taller, and obviously older, he looked more like Sam than Jimmy did.

“Pleased to meet you, what do you see in this ugly git then?” He gave Sam a playful punch to the shoulder and sat at my side.

“Oh, I see a lot, thanks for asking.” Sam went for drinks.

“So are you ok being in here? It’s just you look a little uncomfortable, it’s not a bad watering hole?” I was uncomfortable how had he guessed? Perhaps the sitting on my hands like the kids outside the headmaster’s office, gave him a small clue?

“No, well yes actually, it’s only my second time in a pub, the first time earlier and wondering if this was a pub Dad drinks in.” He grabbed my knee.

“Don’t worry, you look fine and besides I’m a regular and well you’ll be all right.” He too was well mannered and nice, what happened to Jimmy then?

“So you’re the Michelle that has my brothers at war then?” He smiled as he said it but I just blushed.

“Apparently so, but I have never encouraged Jimmy at all, he’s just someone in went to school with and is in some of my classes at college and an idiot who for some reason, threw his self out of a window to impress someone. Sam, well he never knew we were one in the same girl, has to be said, I’m shocked he even likes me, he could be going out with anyone and he picked me, have to wonder why?” I looked over at Sam and he is watching and smiling.
