Raven nodded. “Let me know what you decide. If you need anything, I’m here.”
Gwen smiled and leaned up to kiss his cheek. “I know.”
She watched fondly as her foster brothers and their wives left the cemetery.
Mischa gave her a squeeze. “He was a great man, your father. I’m glad I got to know him.”
“I think he was fond of you as well,” Gwen said, turning in Mischa’s arms and leaning her head against his chest.
Mischa held her close, feeling the familiar ache in his heart at a love too big to be contained in one little organ.
“Shall we go home?” Gwen asked.
“Wherever you are is home to me,” Mischa said.
“Well, for now, I thought the ranch house in Montana is where we will be based. But a cottage in England would be nice too. Melisande sent me some real estate notices. Maybe next week we can look at a couple.”
Mischa chuckled. “You’ve got it all planned out, don’t you?”
Gwen laughed. “My father wasn’t wrong to warn you about me. I have a tendency to take over.”
“You can take me over, anytime, detka.”
Gwen smiled. “I know. I’m lucky to have you, my lycan mate.”
Epilogue
Gwen held a cup of steaming tea in her hands as she watched out the window of their Montana ranch house. Tiny snowflakes fell, adding to the several feet of snow already on the ground. It sparkled in the evening light.
Mischa had gone up to the northern pasture to make sure the cattle were okay. He should be returning any minute. Gwen wasn’t worried, but couldn’t stop herself from watching for his return.
The phone ringing jerked her attention away from the window. Gwen hurried to answer.
“Gwen! He’s here. Nikolai has come.” Gwen smiled at Grigori’s proud tone. “He and Melisande are doing fine. You’ve got to come next week for the naming ceremony.”
“Congratulations to you both. I can’t wait to see him.”
“He has my eyes, of course, but he has his mother’s nose. I hope you and Mischa will come.”
“We’d love to. Mischa is out at the moment, but I know he’d love to come for a visit.”
“I’ll let Melisande know. She’s looking forward to it, as is Rosie.”
“Give everyone our love. We’ll see you next week.”
Gwen smiled as she hung up the phone. The English Alpha and his family would always have a special place in her heart.
The sound of tramping boots told her Mischa was home. She ran to the door and met him on the porch.
“You’ll never guess who called, Grigori! Nikolai arrived this morning.”
“Wonderful. The cattle are fine, by the way, and have plenty of food for at least another week.”
“I told Grigori we would come next week for a visit.”
“That’s fine. The pack can watch over the ranch till we get back. Sergei might be staying close to home since Lindy is suffering morning sickness, but Gavriil can come and house sit.”
“That will work out perfectly.”
“Should we go into the house and try to make our own pup?” Mischa asked tickling her sides.
Gwen laughed. “Your hands are freezing. Come on.” She opened the door and ushered Mischa inside. “I thought we’d wait a couple of years before we added to the population. Cara and Raven’s twins are just starting to crawl.” She stood in the foyer watching as Mischa removed his coat and boots. “Now Nikolai is here and Lindy will be having her baby in a few months. I want to enjoy being an aunt before I take on motherhood.”

Mischa nodded. He wasn’t quite ready to share Gwen with their children, yet either, and was glad they were so in sync. There would be plenty of time to have pups. “Well, then, how about a run?” Mischa asked, taking off his shirt and reaching for the zipper on his pants. “I’ll race you to the lake.”
“You’re on,” Gwen said, unbuttoning her jeans. “I bet I can beat you.”
“Oh, yeah? What are you betting?” Mischa asked, calling his wolf to shift.
“You’ll see.” White lights began to circle Gwen’s form.
They ran out the dog door and into the woods, their wolves free and enjoying life to the fullest. Gwen inched ahead. Her laughter rang in Mischa’s mind. He smiled a wolfy smile and let her go. Her happiness in whatever form was his first priority. His heart filled with love and he sent it rebounding back through the mating bond. Gwen slowed and bumped his shoulder. They continued to the lake, matching their strides. Mates forever, a perfectly matched pair.
