A wondrous act of faith.
A Note from the Author
Dear Reader,
When Frozen Footprints was first published in 2012, I had no definite plans to write a sequel, though I certainly left the possibility open for one. However, the characters lived on in my imagination and this, combined with reader response, compelled me to write a sequel. I’m very excited to announce it’s now available on Kindle and in paperback.
After the Thaw continues the story of Charlene and Clay while introducing some new characters and, of course, new danger. The majority of the story takes place about four years after Frozen Footprints ends.
Now that After the Thaw has been released, you can read the first few chapters online for free. And yes, I promise you’ll find out Clay’s verdict.
If you enjoyed Frozen Footprints, please take a moment to leave an Amazon review—even if it’s only one sentence. When you help spread the word, it makes a world of difference to the success of my books and writing career.
I hope to write many more novels, and knowing that there are readers for my stories is a wonderful encouragement. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
God bless,
Therese Heckenkamp
P.S. Don’t forget to check out Past Suspicion, my very first novel. I also hope you’ll take a peek at my newest release, The Butterfly Recluse!
Acknowledgements
To all those who made this book possible, I send a deep and sincere thank you. I’m especially indebted to:
My dear husband for reading my manuscript and being honest about the flaws, offering suggestions for improvement, and for not minding when I left the light on to write while he slept.
My sisters Monica and Cassandra for reading this so many times over the years it took to reach publication, for listening to my frustrations, brainstorming, and never hesitating to point out problems.
My brother-in-law Chris Eckert for reading the manuscript in one day (wow!) and giving me valuable feedback from a guy’s perspective.
And of course to my three wonderful children for enduring a writer for a mother.
Huge thanks also go to: Regina Doman, who helped shape the story in so many ways—you know how very much I owe you! Andrew Schmiedicke, if not for you there would have been no prologue. Vincent Frankini and Stephen Frankini of Tumblar House, for believing in this book and making my dream come true when they first published it in 2012.
And to my dearly departed ones, with heartfelt gratitude for your prayers: My cousin Mikey (thanks for being a fan of my first book and for interceding for this one); my loving grandmothers; and my two tiny babies who never got to take a breath in this world but moved right on to a better one. I love you and miss you.
Above all, I thank the Good Lord, Who works in such mysterious ways.
