“Open your eyes. Watch me come.”
She obeyed his order, lifting her gaze to his, riveted at the sight of him watching her so hotly, and yet with such love. And with two more thrusts, he came, pouring his seed insi
de her as he whispered her name.
Still inside her, he twisted their bodies so now he was lying on his back and she on top of him. He caressed her softly, and she lifted her head.
“I love you. And I want to spend the rest of my life beside you as your wife.”
He smiled. “I think I can make that happen.”
Epilogue
Six months later
“Jack and Coke on the rocks.”
Gage waited at the bar for his drink, his gaze following the way the bartender made it. It was a slight reprieve, a few moments to collect his thoughts, and he sure as hell needed it. They were both here tonight, and though he’d expected them to be here, celebrating Cade’s birthday, it was more than distracting.
“I see the way you watch her.”
The words were said so low and into his ear, if Jax weren’t so close to him, Gage wouldn’t have heard them. Gage shrugged nonchalantly as he struggled to maintain the casual indifference while gritting his teeth. He silently cursed himself for allowing Jax to sneak up behind him. He’d been purposely keeping his distance from Jax. He forced his body to remain rigid, because if he moved even an inch, he would feel Jax pressed against him. And if Gage turned to him, Jax would feel the truth he’d carefully kept hidden.
“Do you want her?”
Again, the words were whispered, and Gage could have answered him easily, but there was so much more to it than just handing Jax the confirmation he sought. Ivy was his past, and he was determined to make her his future. But he’d never expected Jax to become a roadblock.
The bartender slid the drink to Gage. He lifted the glass and downed the liquid in two swallows. It burned as it slid down his throat, and suddenly he was angered at being pinned against the wood of the bar. If he had a choice, he’d prefer his office or even his home for this confrontation. Gage turned around so fast it forced Jax to take a quick step back.
“For a man who claims to be her friend, you’re awfully inquisitive.”
Jax flicked his gaze below, slowly trailing it up before meeting Gage’s stare. “For a man who claims rureyou’re ato be only her friend, your reaction is like a denial.”
Gage remained still, against the bar. It was a hard thing to do when all he really wanted was to take this conversation somewhere private. “You’ve been dating her for a few months now. What is she to you?”
Jax crossed his arms over his chest. “You’re asking because?”
“She’s mine.” The words came out a bit too powerfully, but with the heat he felt rushing through his blood at this very moment, he couldn’t care less.
“Then it seems we’re at a standstill. Because I’ve put my claim on her as well.”
Gage gritted his teeth, every muscle in his body tensing as Jax stepped closer to him, maneuvering his body so he now shi
elded Gage. What the hell?
Jax dropped his hand and ran it along the outline of Gage’s hard dick. “And when you’re ready to confront this thing between us, perhaps we can find a way to share Ivy and each other.”
