Gabe
Her jasmine scent is inviting. There’s no denying it. Her body so very sinful – young, taut, lean, and the most arresting caramel color I’ve ever seen. Her hair is a shiny cap of black silk that reflects the light from the strobe flickering around the room.
She has the look of being untouched, all innocent and pristine, but I know better. She has been more than touched. She’s been harmed.
Two years ago, I would’ve known exactly what to do with her. How to help her heal; how to bring her pleasure; how to ease her mind so she could trust again.
Hell, I’d been her. In that dark place. And someone helped me. Saved me.
So how can I turn away when she needs me so badly?
Her eyes are closed behind the purple mask, but I know who she is. A low groan escapes her lips as I fasten her hands in the cuffs. The black leather covers most of her forearm because she’s so tiny – like a child playing dress up.
It’s been a dangerous game.
I pull and jerk her arms harder than I need to in an effort to help her relax. I’d know that look of desperation and vulnerability anywhere. It tells me that she needs someone to take over. This time, in a safe and responsible way. In a way she’s never had the privilege of experiencing. But because her needs run so deep, she continues to risk everything to ease her cravings.
Poor girl.
She leans forward, pressing her breasts against my chest. It’s not unappealing; any man in the place would give his right nut to be in this position. And I do have a free pass tonight.
The trouble is, this woman isn’t mine.
So I should leave. I know I should. It’s what my brain is telling me to do. What my heart is telling me to do.
But deep down, in my soul, I’m not okay with leaving. Because that would be the absolute ultimate rejection to this girl.
And I know what will happen if I walk out on her now. After she’s put everything on the line to be here – bared her entire being to me. If I leave now, she’ll never recover.
But if I go through with it, will I?
Chapter 1
Two Days Earlier
Gabe
“Stevie,” I call out to my beloved. My crazy, insane, hot-as-fuck girl. “Will you get this creature out of my closet?”
I nudge my toe at him, but he honks, or snorts, or whatever it is that little pigs do. Teacup pigs, to be precise. Apparently, there’s a huge difference in the swine family and Stevie gets a little defensive when I refer to the little guy as any old animal in the pork family. Curious, considering what she named him.
“Keep your pants on,” she calls from the living room. Ornery little minx.
It takes her almost a full pot of coffee to get going in the morning, but once she does, look out. She is one fierce tornado – the Windy City personified.
I learned this about her almost immediately. Still, I’ve been carried away in that twister more than once. Stevie just has this way about her that sucks you in.
Her little angry feet shuffle down the hall, and I chuckle.
Damn, she’s been living here about ten months now and I never tire of hearing her pad around my place. Our place.
Actually, our soon-to-be former place. Yet who knows, maybe I’ll keep it as a little love shack. It’d be a shame to let it go, considering all the good memories we’ve made here.
We’ve been together for a year and half now – a respectable amount of time for what I plan to do after the holidays. If I can wait that long. This living in limbo shit is killing me and keeping these secrets from Stevie is utter hell. But she deserves to have it done the right way. All the bells and whistles.
Though it will not be a cheesy, ridiculous Christmas proposal. That’s for amateurs. No, I will ask her during our New Year’s holiday to the Swiss Alps. The trip she doesn’t even know I’ve planned. We’ll ski and shop and sip on Gamaret by the fire. After, we’ll have a dip and a sauna. And then, I’ll propose… before having my wicked way with her until the sun comes up.
She’ll have no choice other than to say yes.
Not that it’s been all fun and romance around here lately. Between Stevie’s new responsibilities at the firm and all the work I’m doing on our new home (something I’ve also managed to keep secret – a tough accomplishment when you live with someone as astute as Ms. Stevie Sinclair), we’ve done little more than whisper a few dirty words to each other before passing in the hall.
“Where’s my baby?” she asks, finally stepping into our bedroom.
Ours.
I’ve got to cut that shit out. The goddamn stomach flutters and idiot grins. I’ve become far too in touch with my sentimentality ever since Stevie’s come into my life. I’ve grown weak, lost my edge. But she’s captured this place so deep inside of me, I honestly can’t control it. I’ve never experienced anything so intense.
Frankly, it makes me feel guilty, knowing I was never so consumed with my wife. It’s like I’m spitting on her grave. I loved her, of course. And I know it was the privilege of my life to have known her. But Stevie owns me. Without question.
I try to convince myself that the depth of emotion I hold for Stevie is something that can only be experienced after such a painful loss. Only when you’re wise enough to recognize such a gift.
That’s what Stevie has become to me. A gift. Ever since I first laid eyes on her in the hotel that summer evening.
She was at her most vulnerable that night, willing to let me in.
And me? Well, I had nothing left to lose.
“Where is my baby?” she asks again.
“Right here,” I say, brushing up against her with a swift roll of my hips. Christ, it takes everything I have not to throw her on the bed and take what’s mine, but if I want our new place to be ready in time for the proposal, I have to get to work. We’re behind schedule and I won’t accept anything less than perfect.
This place is going to be our future, where we’ll build our life, and hopefully, our family.
Stevie tilts her head up to meet my eyes – eyes that are now dilated after my little move. I instantly lose my resolve. I really didn’t mean to start something, but it looks like it’s too late. She wants it, and I’m not sure I can deny her when she looks at me that way. Or when she’s dressed like a punk rock pin-up girl.
Her ripped jeans mold perfectly to her curves, and are cuffed at the bottom to show off a pair of killer lace-up ankle boots. It was her exquisite taste in fuck-me footwear that initially caught my attention that first night I saw her.
I haven’t become immune.
Her flimsy sheer top leaves just enough to the imagination, and tempts me to rip it right off that snug little body.
“Hold that thought,” she says, taking a turn to drive me out of my mind with a reciprocal roll of her hips.
The flowy material of her shirt tickles my arm as she passes me. Damn, all it would take is one quick tug.
She walks over to the closet, shaking her sweet ass the entire way to our new little pet.
Lucky sow.
“Kevin,” she says to the clueless swine. “Kevin Bacon, get your hot pink booty over here.”
She removes him from my closet, and he squeals in delight at the sound of her voice. She, in turn, peppers him with kisses and puts him in his playpen.
When I agreed to a pet, I had no idea Stevie had her heart set on a pig. I was thinking a puppy, cat, or even a ferret. But no. She found out this tiny breed of pigs was actually created to be used for medical research and went absolutely mad. Her mind was made up then and there.
We’ve since learned that most of the so-called teacup pigs don’t stay so cute and small, so thousands end up in shelters, or are euthanized, or even used to help train fighting dogs.
Next thing I knew, we were donating money to the non-profit sanctuary, Piggy Paradise, and heading to a local pig rescue to save Kevin Bacon – who may or may not grow to be the size of a full-grown barnyard animal.
God help us.
“I still can’t believe you named him that,” I say, even though I can believe it. Stevie also has a cockatoo (that she shares joint custody for with her ex-boyfriend) named Free. As in Free Bird. The woman might just be certifiable. And fuck if I don’t adore every inch of her.
“I know,” she says, all serious. “I regret it a little bit. It’s so cannibalistic. Still, somehow, it fits him.”
“It’s strange, darling,” I say, pulling her hair over her shoulder before I taste her neck. “Then again, so are you.”
She pouts and it’s more than I can handle. It gets me every damn time. I move in to kiss those pouty lips, and I’m welcomed with the taste of coffee and a hint of the Irish creamer she loves. It’s decadent as I slide my tongue along her bottom lip before pulling it into my mouth to suck.
That gets me my first moan. I have just enough time to get her there; at least once before I have to leave.
I nip and tease, before allowing my hands to skate inside her shirt. Her quivering skin gives me the heady power trip that I enjoy entirely too much.
When I remove the sheer blouse from her body, I’m rewarded with piercing nipples trying to break free from the fitted pink tank top she wears underneath. Her skin is smooth and warm as I ride the last layer of cotton up and over her ample breasts, while I continue to take every inch of her mouth. Gliding over the top of her teeth, along the roof, and finally tangling with her tongue in a delicate dance.
She pushes closer, and my cock answers her call with an involuntary thrust.
But when my fingers reach her tight nipples, I’m not in the mood for teasing any longer. I sink into the kiss to take my fill. Her mouth is hot and open and so receptive, I change the angle of my head to deepen the kiss.
I know something else that would be hot and receptive, but that will have to wait because I have to look at her rosy nipples currently begging for my attention. Touching them is one thing, but the visual is something else.
The fact that Stevie doesn’t mind when I gawk at her is just another reason why we’re so compatible. Men are visual creatures – we need to see. It’s the most effective aphrodisiac.
With women, it’s all about the seduction. The words and the foreplay. And when I can get into that fascinating head of hers, it is goddamn mind-blowing.
But right now, I’m a selfish bastard and I want to fuck her with my eyes.
I pull off her shirt to find her gorgeous tits displayed beautifully in a silky black bra. The contrast of the black fabric on her milky white skin fills my head with nasty thoughts of what I’d like to do to her. I slide the cups of her bra down and let her breasts spill over the top. I could stare at them for hours.
But I don’t. Like I said, I’m a selfish bastard.
“So what do you say we –” Stevie begins before she’s cut off by the ring of my p
hone.
As much as I want to capture that pert nipple between my teeth, I know I have to answer the call.
Before I do, however, I can’t help but notice a wave of disappointment wash over Stevie’s face. Something is going on with her and it’s more than this current delay in gratification. She hasn’t quite seemed herself lately. We’ve both been so busy; of course I have my reasons. And they all revolve around her. Still, we need to make time for this or we are going to combust.
I’ll make it a quick call. It’s probably just the contractor again. Once I get things squared with him, it’s back to servicing my woman.
She stands in front of me, inviting me to play, as I put the phone to my ear. I can hardly concentrate, until the voice on the other end tells me there’s an issue with supplies at the new place.
It can’t wait.
“Sorry, baby,” I’m forced to say when I hang up the phone, my cock protesting every word. “I have to get to work. It can’t be helped. But I will finish this tonight.”
Chapter 2
Stevie
If you asked me about the state of my affairs two weeks ago, I would’ve told you that I had life by the mother effing balls.
My career had taken off with the speed of a SR-71 Blackbird – that’s one of the fastest military planes for the novices out there. In the span of a year, I went from lowly assistant to senior account manager at the graphic design and branding company I work for – running campaigns for Fortune 500 companies to U.S. military suppliers.
My role had taken a dramatic turn once I helped land one of the largest accounts, and my boss finally realized I was not reaching my full potential ordering Subway sandwiches and making coffee day in and day out. And when you save a business millions of dollars, it’s surprising how everyone changes their tune. I now take the lead on some of our most important accounts, including our latest win: an aircraft technology manufacturer.
I became immersed in it and actually enjoyed learning about the ins and outs of aviation, especially when it was used in a military setting.
