I felt more than just pleasure in that moment. I felt a connection that was surreal and unbelievable. I’d never felt my mind sync with someone else’s so well. I gave everything I had to this woman, and I wished I’d done it sooner. What if we got together long before? We would have had so much more time together. We would have made love a thousand times by now and we still wouldn’t be tired of it.
“Axel…”
I loved it when she said my name. It usually meant she was on the verge of coming. Her pussy was tightening around me and my dick was feeling even better with every thrust. “Baby…” I never called a woman that, and I couldn’t recall when I started calling Marie by that nickname. It just came out and I didn’t think twice about it. I kept using it because I liked it.
“I love you.”
Everything stopped. My thrusts died out and my ears started to ring. Her words echoed in my mind long after she said them, but I still couldn’t believe what I heard. The ground shook beneath me and I couldn’t find my footing. Like a lightning storm, I was struck—a thousand times. Fear gripped me by the throat and my mouth went dry. My tongue felt too big for my mouth. My heart pounded painfully in my chest, causing an adrenaline spike.
What did she just say?
Marie knew she said the wrong thing. All the pleasure left her look and she stared at me in embarrassment. Her hands left my hair and returned to her sides. She breathed hard out of fear. “Axel…I shouldn’t have said that. I was just in the moment and—”
I got off of her then moved away, still panting. No one had ever said those words to me in my life and I wasn’t ready to hear them now. First, we had dinner with her parents and then the marriage joke…and now this. I wasn’t ready for it. I didn’t think we were that serious.
I moved again but ended up falling on the floor.
“Axel?” Marie moved to the edge of the bed.
I got to my feet again and hastily pulled on my clothes. “I’ve got to go.” My shirt was on backwards but I didn’t care enough to fix it. All I knew was I had to get out of there. I didn’t mean to mislead Marie into something serious, but I thought we were in the same place. I couldn’t fall in love and get married. I didn’t have the guts and the strength. I didn’t have the balls to be a good man to anyone. I never meant for her to get hurt but somehow it happened anyway. “I’m sorry. I have to go.” I reached her bedroom door and opened it.
“Axel, hold on.”
I stopped at the doorway but didn’t turn around.
“You can’t just leave. Let’s talk about this.”
“I…I don’t want to talk. I have to go.”
“Axel—” I walked out and shut the door behind me. Everything after that was a blur. I walked passed the living room and ignored Francesca and Cameron. I wasn’t even sure what they were doing or if they noticed me leaving. I ran to the truck and got it started but couldn’t remember turning the key. I got onto the road and drove home but couldn’t remember the drive. By the time I got into my apartment I collapsed on the couch and stared at the wall. The paint was white and a few coats old. I concentrated my thoughts on that—nothing.
It was the only thing that comforted me.
I hoped you enjoyed reading THURSDAY as much as I enjoyed writing it. It would mean the world to me if you could leave a short review. It’s the best kind of support you can give an author. Thank you so much.
Is that really the end of Axel and Marie? Or is there still hope? Find out in the next installment of the series FRIDAY.

EL’S ELITES
I know I’m lucky enough to have super fans, you know, the kind that would dive off a cliff for you. They have my back through and through. They love my books and they love spreading the word. Their biggest goal is to see me on the New York Times bestsellers list and they’ll stop at nothing to make it happen. While it’s a lot of work, it’s also a lot of fun. What better way to make friendships than to connect with people who love the same thing you do?
Are you one of these super fans?
