Rebecca closed her eyes. He’d signed the letter with love. She folded it and placed it in her purse. She stood and walked back to the hotel. Raising dust, the stagecoach rattled down the street and stopped in front of the hotel.

The driver leaped down, and Woodman handed him one of Rebecca’s bags.

“Wait. I’m not going,” Rebecca said.

Woodman gave her a questioning look, then grinned. “Too roight, mum.” He took back the bag and set it on the sidewalk.

Daniel stepped out of the hotel. “Rebecca?”

She hadn’t expected him. “I thought you weren’t going to see me off.”

  “I changed my mind.”

Rebecca stared at Daniel. His blue eyes were lit with hope, and a smile touched his lips. She stepped closer, searching his eyes. She loved him; she had for a long while. God had a plan of restoration—she was to be a part of it.

“I may not love Australia yet,” she said, “but I do love you. And this is where I belong.”
