“I think you’re right,” she said.
With our arms wrapped around one another, Daisy and I kissed once again and I felt wonderful. It was a new day, a new year, and I was becoming a new person. The angst that had worked itself inside of me was dissipating, and there was a newfound happiness growing in its place. I knew I could make it all work. With the band, my friends, my family, with my new life in New York and the label and fame… and Daisy. I could navigate these waters. I had to. And if I wasn’t going to take charge of my life, someone else would. That’s not how I wanted it to be.
I wanted to scream out to Daisy and tell her how much I loved her. I could see in her face that she already knew. I could feel the warmth of her body next to mine. And I could taste it in her kiss. Although we had come from different worlds, it just worked for us and that realization was comforting to me. It made me understand that everything wasn’t always as it appeared, and if you open yourself up and take a chance, good things will happen.
I had always stayed true to myself, even during the hard times, and it was beginning to pay off. For that, I would be eternally grateful.
And for Daisy, too.
