“I apologize for what I said to you at Victoria’s graduation. It wasn’t my place. You’re a good man, Adrian, and I should’ve never questioned it. I apologize.”
Their honeymoon was short but sweet. Then married life began. It was a time of kindergarten, homework, holidays, and finding time to kiss and say “I love you.”
Before he knew it, Victoria gave him a little wrapped box with a set of baby booties. “Does this mean what I think it means?”
“Yes!”
“Daddy, I’m going to finally have a brother or a sister. Isn’t it wonderful?”
Adrian had swept both of his girls in his arms and whooped in joy. For the next seven months he’d become a mother hen, fussing over Victoria and making sure she didn’t overwork herself. She’d the patience of a saint, even though she was in graduate school and studying for her CPA exam.
Victoria’s water broke in the middle of the night. After a long afternoon of walking the halls and sucking on ice cubes, their son finally made his appearance at 5:12pm at 7lbs. 8oz. with a full set of lungs.
“What should we name him?” Victoria asked while nursing their son.
“Since you named our daughter after me, it’s only fair that I name our son after you.”
And now here they were.
Life was good and only bound to get better.
“What are you thinking about, Adrian?”
He smiled, feeling his love for Victoria and the life they were creating together overflow.
“Everything.” Adrian leaned down to kiss her gently. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
