“She’s brilliant. I love it, but she can’t keep a secret,” I reminded him.
“Well that’s a good thing.” So he thought.
“Yeah, say that when she gets the code to the safe and shares it with everyone.”
“You got me on that one, Vanessa.”
“Now why did you come looking for me?”
“I wanted to serve you breakfast in bed.”
“Oh really? What’s for breakfast?”
“Sausage.”
“We don’t need a bed for that,” I winked, closing and locking the bathroom door behind him. I slammed him against the door then dropped to my knees.
“Yes, baby. Suck it,” he growled.
Tim
“Where is that woman at?” I grumbled to myself. Married a decade and I miss her if we spend more than a few hours apart. With my inheritance, I didn’t have to work, so we lived very well off the interest. I loved spending time with the kids and my beautiful wife. All the females in the family decided to go on a shopping spree. Having nine females try on clothes took all day, especially since five of them were young.
“She’ll be home soon, Dad,” my eldest child, Tim said. “You always get anxious when Mom leaves the house.”
“That’s because your mother was the best thing to happen to me and I can’t lose her.”
“Thanks, Dad.”
“If it wasn’t for her you wouldn’t be here. So if I didn’t have her I would have all of you kids.”
“I know, Dad. I just like messing with you. Mom feels the same way. Remember when you and uncle Cam went to go spar? Mom was pacing the house waiting for you to come home. Then you guys had a “talk” for hours.” He air quoted me.
“Junior. I don’t know what you think you know, but mommy and I go to go talk.”
“I’m not that little, Dad. I don’t know the details or whatever, but I know what parents do when they’re alone.”
“What do you think we do alone?”
“My classmate says it’s how you make babies. He says you ‘bump uglies’.” I didn’t know whether to laugh or to be mortified, but I was certainly glad Vanessa wasn’t here when he said that along with the parrot as well. She would walk around the house shouting it at the top of her lungs.
“What he said is an inappropriate way to say that, but it’s true. That’s all you need to know for now. You’re too young to be thinking about that.”
“Dad. I don’t think about it. It’s kind of gross. Anyways, I just like the way you and mommy seem so happy all the time. That’s what I want when I grow up. To have someone like her who’s just as happy as I am.”
“You’re a good boy.” I said, hugging my son. “Remember, buddy. Never become cold.”
I let him go just as the front door opened. “Honey, we’re home!”
Junior and I met them at the door. Vanessa and Erica were alone with all their bags. “Are there more bags in the truck?”
“No, Daddy. Only the weak make two trips,” the terror said with a big grin, her teeth showing brightly. Vanessa laughed behind her bag filled hand.
“Well, mini-monster, take your strong butt up to your room with your goodies you got and put them away.”
“Yeah, mom and dad need to have a talk,” Junior added.
“Junior, take your smart ass up there and help her,” I ordered. He laughed, but still did as I asked, taking the bags from the little one.
Vanessa raised her brow. “You don’t want to know. But just so you know, I don’t want to talk today, I want to check out the pretty maternity clothes you bought. In our room. Right now,” I finished, tilting my head toward the staircase leading to our room.
Thankfully the others were with Cam and grandpa. We’d get the rest of our large brood back tomorrow. “Come on, Mrs. Russell. I want to watch you model for me.”
“So I guess our ‘talks’ are out of the bag?”
“Just Junior. He learns more than he should in school. Don’t know what cursive is, but knows about bumping uglies.”
“What!”
“Yes, exactly. Now move your ass up the stairs. I want you, so much.”
“I missed you, too.” I helped her up the stairs with her bags then dropped them as soon as we entered our bedroom. Turning around, I pinned her to the bedroom door.
“I love you, Vanessa. I’ve waited all day for this.” I took her mouth with mine. “No more waiting.”
