See, Niko thought I was some drug cartel, trust fund baby, who didn't get his hands dirty. But anybody who knows Kendrick King knows I get a rush from emptying clips in my enemies. I remember when my dad had me kill someone at age sixteen, ‘cause the nigga shorted his money. I was scared as hell, until my dad convinced me that when these people are harming you or your business, they have to go. I shot that nigga ten times, and my dad let me take shots with him all night to celebrate. My father washed his hands of this shit years ago, and I’ve been running it ever since. People love to say that he’s still running things, in order to take away from my accomplishments, but I could care less. Niggas who really know what's up, know Kendrick King runs this shit solely, with no backup from his father.
It was now 9:15pm, and I saw Niko's kitchen light come on. "Like clockwork," I laughed. I made sure no one was outside, and then I hopped out. I had a homie who makes keys for a living make me a plastic key to enter Niko's condo. I quietly walked in and all the lights were off. If I died tonight, I was taking this nigga with me, and it would all be worth it. The house was quiet as hell, except for the sound of a T-Mobile commercial playing upstairs. I quietly walked through the house and saw no signs of Niko. I hid under the stairs, to wait and see if I heard anything, and I heard footsteps on the floor above.
"Now where the hell is my…oh," Niko said to himself.
I heard a door open and close, so I came out to walk up the stairs. I walked up the stairs slowly, and looked around the miniature foyer area. I heard some rustling from downstairs, but I would handle whoever that was later. I walked into the first room and heard a gun cock. Fuck. I felt the cold barrel being pressed to the back of my head.
"What the fuck are you doing in my house?" Niko asked through gritted teeth, it sounded like.
"What the fuck you think I'm doing here?!" I spat over my shoulder. He chuckled.
"I didn't think you had it in you Kendrick. I assumed my daughter was married to some punk," he said, and some of his spit hit the back of my neck.
"Pull the trigger if you gone do it, you bitch ass nigga!" I yelled.
"You talk a lot of shit for someone with a gun pressed to the back of their head, little nigga. I commend you for that. Too bad my daughter will be a widow. But on the bright side, Whitney can step up and show your sons what a real father is like," he chuckled.
"Ironic that you would talk about being a real father," I scoffed.
"I loved Nic! It was her fucking mother that ran me off! I never forgot about her!!" he yelled loud as hell, and I could tell I hit a nerve.
"Stop yelling in my damn ear!" I spat. Nigga had my shit ringing. I was trying to think of a way to pull my gun out and shoot him, but I knew once I moved, he would split my wig.
"Goodbye Mr. King," he said, and I heard a gunshot. I flinched, but then realized I was still alive. I felt my body up for blood, and got nothing. I heard a thump, and the gun was no longer pressed to my head. I slowly turned around and saw Niko on the ground, with blood pouring from his head. I quickly looked up to see the shooter standing at the top of the stairs facing me. I could tell it was a female, and her body was sexy as hell. She wore a ski mask and her long hair was hanging out. She was bad as hell from what little I could see, and clearly a fucking thug.
"I guess I should say thank you," I said to the girl. She didn't respond, as she placed the gun back in her waist. She had on tight black jeans, a black turtleneck, and black combat boots. She walked over to me, and I pulled my gun out. She snatched off her mask and smiled at me. "Nic?! Baby, what the fuck are you doing?! How did-" I was so confused, yet turned on, so I didn't know how to respond.
"I followed you here," she said. I grabbed her little gangsta ass close and kissed her lips.
"Damn, you got good aim," I said.
"I guess when you took me to the range, it paid off," she smiled.
I called Draco and Dice for clean up. "Meet me at home now!" I said as we split up and got into our cars.
As soon as we walked through the front door, we tongued each other down and peeled off our clothes. I picked her naked body up and laid her on the bed.
"When did you become a fucking thug?" I asked as I kissed her soft lips and down her body.
"I'll do anything for you," she replied.
I kissed her lips hard, and entered her walls. "You'll do anything for me?" I asked in between kisses, as I slowly pumped into her.
"Anything," she moaned.
"I love you, Nic," I said, as I kissed her palm and wrist. "I love you more Kendrick," she replied.
It was crazy that our jealousy caused us to save each other from harmful situations. We were crazy about each other, and I loved that shit.
Chapter Fourteen: Morgan Garrett
"You look so pretty Morgan," Nic beamed as I looked at myself in the mirror. My white dress was so beautiful.
"Thank you," I replied.
Kendreeis really spared no expense to make me happy. "Ma, relax," I chuckled, as my mother sobbed and sobbed. My mom and I had our differences, but I still loved her ass.
"Kayden said Dreeis and everybody is ready," Christy said as she locked, and put her phone away. Deija, Jessica, Nic, and Christy were my bridesmaids. Danielle declined, because she said she was too fat to stand for any time period. I chuckled at the thought. They all wore light pink because that was the only color we could all agree on.
We all exchanged light kisses and hugs, and the girls left the room so the ceremony could start. I watched as Nic and Kendrick, then Christy and Kayden, Deija and Kendrew, and Jessica and Kendon walked down the aisle respectively. I held back tears, as I watched Kendreeis standing up there waiting for me, and Kameko dropping flowers. Kairio, the brother’s father, agreed to walk me down the aisle, since I pretty much had no father.
"You ready to become Mrs. King?" Kairio asked and smiled.
"I was ready three years ago," I smiled and he chuckled.
They signaled to let them know I was coming, and everyone stood up. I took a deep breath and walked with Kairio down the aisle. All the bridesmaids and groomsmen were smiling hard as hell. I’d finally made it to the altar, and Kairio took his seat next to Camia. Kendreeis removed my veil off my face and smiled.
"You look beautiful," he mouthed. He decided to cut his dreads for the wedding, so it was gonna take some getting used to. However, I loved being able to see more of his beautiful face.
"Thank you," I mouthed as I stared into his jade green eyes.
"Do you guys have any personal vows you'd like to read? Or should we just proceed to the traditional?" the pastor asked.
"I have a couple words," Kendreeis replied. The pastor nodded, letting him know to go ahead. I took a deep breath, ‘cause I didn't want to cry and ruin my make up. "Morgan, I want you to know that I saw this day in my mind from the first day that I met you at my birthday party three years ago. You were, and still are, the most beautiful woman I've ever laid my eyes on. I love how sweet you are, even when I was acting like an asshole. You never once weakened, due to my callous exterior. You kept chipping away at me, ‘cause you knew something good was underneath. We have stuck by each other, regardless of the many things that have come our way, which shows that we were meant to be. I made you a promise the first night you came to my house, and I made good on that. I love you more than anything, except Kaleeini," he smiled and the guests laughed. My tears were flowing freely, and I blinked a couple times to hopefully dry them.
"Morgan?" the pastor raised a brow.
"Kendreeis King, I don't know what to say babe. I don't know what I did to deserve you. After awhile I thought I would never find the perfect guy for me, then I met you. Handsome, brave, ambitious, sexy, funny, just everything I've always wanted. And then Kaleeini was the icing on the cake. I thank you for keeping your promise to me that you made that night by the fireplace. And always having an unwavering faith in our relationship, no matter how crazy it got. We're gonna always have each other's backs babe, and I love t
hat about us." I smiled and dabbed my tears. I couldn't believe I saw a single tear leave Kendreeis' eyes.
"Repeat after me," the pastor said to Kendreeis, as baby Kendrick walked the rings out.
"I choose you, to stand by your side, sleep in your arms, to be a joy to your heart, and food for your soul; to learn with you, and grow with you, even as life and time changes us both. I promise to laugh with you in good times, and struggle along side you in bad times. I promise to respect you and cherish you, as an individual, a partner, and an equal, knowing that we do not complete, but complement each other. May we have many adventures, and grow old together," we each repeated after the pastor one at a time. I cried harder as I said each word.
"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride!" The pastor smiled, and everyone cheered, as Kendreeis tongued me down. "I announce to you all, Mr. and Mrs. Kendreeis Drake King!" the pastor said, and everyone cheered louder.
We walked back down the aisle, hand in hand, as everyone threw rice in the air. Kendreeis grabbed Kaleeini from Kendon, as we all headed to the reception hall. Once we got there, it was time for our first dance. We danced to our favorite song, "There Goes My Baby" by Usher.
"I love you Morgan," Dreeis said.
"I love you more babe," I replied, and he kissed my lips. I was happy that all my friends and I, had made it to the end with the men we loved. We made it, even though at times it seemed as though we wouldn’t.
We finished our dance, and then everyone else joined the dance floor, for us to have some fun. Afterwards, we ate good food until it was time to cut our three-tier, German chocolate cake.
"Don't smash this in my face Dreeis," I said as we cut the first piece. We picked up the slices, and I glared at him to let him know I wasn't playing. He smiled and shook his head, and then we fed each other the cake. We kissed as everyone cheered, and then we continued to enjoy our party. Afterwards, Dreeis, Kaleeini and I, changed clothes and took a private jet to Jamaica for our honeymoon. I couldn't be happier.
Epilogue
NIC KING
One Year Later
"Muah!" I kissed my son, Kendrin's fat cheeks.
"Can I get one of those?" Kendrick smiled. I leaned over and pecked his soft lips a couple times.
It was December 24th, and we were relaxing amongst our family members. Everyone was here at Kairio and Camia's huge mansion. Kairio's brother, Kylin, Morgan, Kendreeis, Kayden, Christy, Deija, Kendrew, Kendon, Jessica, my mother, Mariah, her new boyfriend, Fred, Danielle, and Damien, all sat in the large living room, on the huge beige couches, surrounding the huge 11ft Christmas tree.
"Is the food ready?" Morgan asked rubbing her stomach. She was pregnant with another boy, and she was eating just as much as she was with Kaleeini. Kendreeis chuckled at her, as he watched Kaleeini play with some toys on the plush carpet, with KJ.
"Soon honey. Soon," Camia chuckled.
Everyone had on ugly sweaters for the occasion, and drank unlimited eggnog. "She's growing too fast!" Christy chuckled, as she played with Kaylie, who was being held by Kayden.
"Yeah, she's one already!" I chuckled, and Christy nodded and fake pouted.
I smiled as I watched Jessica play with Kennedy, as Kenzie sat in Kendon’s lap. She really accepted Kennedy as her own, and I could tell Kendon appreciated it. They, too, were married now, as well as Deija and Kendrew. Kendrew Jr. was so cute, and Deija was so happy that Kendrew had kept his promise about not fucking around. Danielle's daughter, Andrea was the cutest, and she was so calm and quiet, which Danielle loved. Damien spoiled her though, and Danielle hated that.
Life was good for all of us at this point. Morgan and I finally graduated from college, and I was valedictorian. I was now in graduate school at Morgan State. My mother was so proud that I achieved my goal after all that has happened to me. I owed a lot to my best friend and husband, because he really made sure I pulled through and kept me ambitious; my mom loved Kendrick for that. Kendrick was the greatest thing that ever happened to me, regardless of all the shit we had to go through. I couldn't choose a better man to go through it with.
Christy, Jessica, Morgan and I, opened a nail bar slash hair salon. It was a hit immediately, and the cash flow had been great. It felt good to have our own money, instead having to ask our men for anything. Even though they never used it against us, having my own shit was lovely. The brothers opened a new club called King’s Palace, and it was just as big as KB’s.
Kendrick kept his promise, and I hadn't had any infidelities out of him. As for Sydney, after I punched that hoe, I never had any problems out of her. Kendrick said she wouldn't even look at him anymore, which we laughed about. My baby, KJ was three years old, and I didn't want him to get any bigger. I grabbed him and kissed his cheeks due to my thoughts, and he chuckled. I put him back down, and he walked his little self, back to his cousins, Kaleeini and Kameko, to play.
"The food is ready," the chef peeked into the living room to let us know. Everyone got up to grab their babies, and headed to go eat. Kendrick tried to carry KJ, but he was hell bent on walking everywhere we went. I handed him Kendrin, and he grabbed my waist with the other hand. He kissed my lips, and I savored the moment.
"We made it ma. I love you," he said as he stared down into my eyes.
"I love you too Kendrick King."
