Renny shivered and patted Zavier on the thigh. “Giona’s mate will be lucky.”
Zotikos was hit by a wave of desire from Pierce right before Pierce’s thoughts flowed through their link. Their human was thinking about all the ecstasy he felt when he was bitten by them.
After shifting in his seat next to Pierce, Zotikos shot his own message to his mates. Stop it, Pierce. We can’t fuck you here. Maybe telling Pierce not to block his thoughts from his mates hadn’t been a good idea after all. Not at times like this anyway.
Pierce took a drink of his beer. I’ll try. You two are just so hot.
Tristan looked at them with a knowing grin, and Zotikos felt Pierce putting a shield in place around his thoughts.
Good job, he said through their link.
How can you talk to me with my shield in place? Pierce asked with a hint of confusion.
He was proud of his mates for trying to learn so much in a small amount of time. It’s a different channel.
Oh, Pierce and Darrin said in sync.
Zotikos nodded at Drake and Vance as they entered the room and took a seat to finish watching the game. As the game continued the room sporadically filled with cheers and curses. He didn’t care which team won, Zotikos was just glad to be with his mates and friends.
When the game ended Luke grumbled, “My team must have been drunk. I can’t believe they lost that badly. Maybe I’ll have better luck with the next game.”
A sly look crossed Whit’s handsome face. “You willing to bet on your team?”
“Hell no. I never trust fucking pro athletes. They could be injured, but too big headed to let anyone else in the spotlight, or they could have just finished sniffing a line of drugs that makes them less coordinated than a newly born giraffe trying to walk in a fifty-mile-an-hour wind storm.” Luke’s voice rose along with his irritation.
Whit laughed and nudged Parker. “I told you he’d come up with a crazy response. Hand over the ten bucks you just lost.”
Parker pulled out his wallet and slapped the bill into Whit’s hand. “The baby giraffe part did create an interesting visual in my mind.”
“I could use some air,” Zavier said. Several of them agreed.
As half of them headed for the porch, Luke grumbled about young vampires.
Vance came over and stood near the porch rail. “Vance, this is Pierce, my mate, and you know Darrin from what I understand. Pierce, Vance.”
Pierce had just finished shaking Vance’s hand when Oscar flew overhead. The owl slowed when he saw Vance. He watched as the large owl hooted loudly and then circled several times above Vance before landing on the porch rail several feet away from them. The owl’s big gold-and-black eyes watched everyone keenly.
Vance looked at Zavier. “I see you haven’t gotten your pet under control yet.”
Zavier shook his head. “You have no idea. Since we added to our family he has become even more protective. I see he’s still drawn to you, Vance. Oscar seems to be intrigued by you.”
The vampire shrugged his shoulder. “How’s the new house coming?”
“Great. We’re all finally settled. It took a bit, but we have figured it out.” Zavier rocked the baby in his arms.
Vance looked at the baby and grinned before a serious look crossed his face. “Do you guys think this Attinie being could know something about our brothers’ disappearance?”
Zavier’s pale green eyes became just as serious as Vance’s. “I hope so. We could kill two birds with one stone. Take down Attinie and get our brothers back if she’s holding them.”
Oscar hooted several times and then flew over Vance before circling Zavier and his family. They watched as Oscar flew into the night sky.
Vance leaned against the porch rail. “I hope it works out that way. If nothing she may know what’s happened to them.”
“What if she won’t talk?” Darrin unconsciously rubbed the scar on his cheek. “If she’s the one Pierce and Greg heard and sent those men after us, she’s bad news.”
Zotikos was glad he’d told his mates about the being’s name. He’d made it look like Drake had found it out, leaving his own part out.
“It’ll talk.” Vance’s tone was menacing.
“You can bet it will,” Zavier added confidently.
Renny’s baby yawned loudly and stretched in Zavier’s arms.
Drake nodded toward the twins. “They’re another reason we have to find this killer and stop her. Attinie and others like her can’t be allowed to take away their future.” They all agreed, some louder than others, but they all knew what needed to be done.
Oscar made another pass over them and hooted. Zavier’s son shifted in Renny’s arms. Reagan and Shea looked wearily at him. “I better go get another piece of cake before Giona wakes up and forces us to go home,” Shea whispered.
Reagan’s eyes sparkled. “I’ll feed it to you, love.” Shea blushed, but didn’t refuse her adventurous mate.
Greg, who was floating next to Conlin, said, “I loved cake when I was alive.”
“What else did you love?” Pierce asked the transparent man.
“Solving cases and helping others.” Greg’s answer came easily.
“Greg is working on becoming stronger. He’s been moving small stuff since the beginning. Now he’s learning to move larger things like heavy-duty dressers.” Conlin’s voice was full of pride as he talked about his friend’s accomplishment.
“That’s great, Greg.” Darrin moved to fist-bump Greg. The spirit focused and actually bumped fists with Darrin powerfully enough to make Darrin take a step back.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to do it that hard. I’m still learning to control it.”
“You did good. I’m hard to hurt now.” Darrin grinned at his floating friend.
Milly’s long blue-black hair swayed as she walked up to Vance and touched his arm briefly. Her beautiful eyes darted to Tristan. He smiled and nodded to her.
Vance looked at her curiously. “What is it, Milly?”
“I believe you are the path to my mate or mates. I’d like to go with you when you leave,” she stated in a cute, self-assured way.
Zotikos didn’t see how Vance could deny the sweet little fay.
Looks like Vance has a traveling companion, Pierce said through their link. He and Darrin agreed whole-heartedly.
“Sure. You can come with me if you feel strongly about it.”
“I do.” Milly gave Vance a stunning smile.
Vance looked deep in thought for a moment. “If you need or want a job, you can work as a chef at the club. Your mates could show up there.”
Milly’s face lit up and her eyes sparkled supernaturally. “I’d love that. Thank you, Vance.” With feelings of happiness and sadness coming off of Tristan, Caleb, and Drake, Milly hugged them all. “I’m going to miss you all, but I have to follow my heart.”
“We’ll all miss you, too,” Caleb said and then added, “Come back and let us meet your mate when you find the lucky guy or gal.”
“You can bet on it.” Milly’s voice trembled as her emotions fluctuated from happy to sad to happy repeatedly. They were all going to miss the adorable fay.
Pierce moved to stand between Zotikos and Darrin. Their mate slid his hands into theirs. Thanks for bringing me into this family. They love and help each other so much. I love you two, Pierce said through their link.
Darrin looked at them and sent out a message. We are lucky to be a part of it and to have each other, my loves.
We complete each other and always will. Now let’s say our good-byes and go home so I can physically show you two how much I love you, he crooned softly and lovingly.
Excited feelings came from Pierce and giddy ones came off Darrin.
Darrin’s eyes sparkled. Can you show us on the ceiling?
Yes, the ceiling, again. Pierce nodded eagerly.
If that’s what you both wish. The memory of their time on the ceiling had desire swirling through his groin.

sp; We do, they exuberantly answered in sync.
Zotikos absorbed the wild, wonderful emotions coming off his mates. He caught the Wyckoff brothers’ amused looks and immediately misted his mates into their bedroom. It was time he fulfilled their wishes. He looked forward to doing it eternally.
