At this point, she was out of her mind. Nipples taunt, a sheen of sweat misted across her delicious skin, and the smell of her sex - which called to him on unknown levels. She was primed. He worked in two fingers, then three. Jayce stretched a thumb to her clit and flicked. His body preventing her jolt, she couldn’t run from the sensation. “Bring her to the brink, man. I’m dying for her, just dying to be inside. At this point, I’ll take one deep thrust.”
“Honey,” Jayce pinched her clit, as Bren rubbed the head of his cock in circles, teasing her opening. “You have no idea how good your walls feel. Let Bren share that feeling. Relax and open your body for him. Let him know what it‘s like to claim that sweet body.”
As best as she could will herself, she tried to relax. “I’m on fire.” She pressed her hand over Jayce’s, trying to reach her nub. Even though she had years of masturbating practice, she hadn’t once been able to bring her body to orgasm. She was fighting to, now.
Jayce nipped her ear with a husky laugh. “You can no longer touch yourself without our express permission. Honey, let me spell it out for you, that will rarely happen. Move your hand or tally a punishment.” Irritated, she clutched the sheet and ineloquently swore.
“Join my club.” Bren bit out. He took back his missing two inches. Miraculously, there was enough lube to bring him half way through her lushness. “Damn it all,” he moaned. “Aw, shit,” he shuddered from his balls to the top of his head, as he braced both arms and straddled Tatum and Jayce. “If I had known then, what I know now,” he pulled out and plunged home - balls deep. He pressed against her, sex to sex, with his scrotum against her lovely spread ass. “I would have chained you and locked you in my fucking closet. Oh my….fuck, yeah,” he growled. “What a little treasure chest.” Mercifully, Tatum still was blindfolded. His eyes were hot, clearly glowing blue flames, and his canines fully seated against his chin. He could no longer hold a conscious thought. He was inside her, so entirely inside her. Inside home. She was his mate for an eternity. He growled low in his throat and fiercely shot his seed against her precious womb when the last burst of her climax clinched.
“I think she fainted.” With that, Jayce brought him back to earth.
“She cancelled her trip home?” Granny was under a hair dryer. Its heyday long past, it was a tribute to nineteen sixties sci-fi.
“That’s what I was told. Of course, you missed the spa day…so you don’t know everything. She doesn’t need to go back and deal with Troy.” Renee waved at Lonny Brown. He had asked granny on a date for movie night. Granny had shot him down with a tongue-lashing that would have done any righteous, Baptist minister proud. Renee didn’t know what the big deal was, considering that movie night consisted of a room upstairs, a projector and around fifty walkers parked against the left wall of Swaying Palms. “Wave at Lonny, Granny,” Renee whispered.
“Hell, no,” she huffed. Lonny walked away, but not before pinching a uniformed nurse’s assistant on the rear.
“Why have we returned to the salon?” Swaying Palms catered to their residents with hairdressers a couple of times a week.
“Too blue, that young girl put horns on my forehead,” Granny gave her a dull look and pointed a spotted hand to her face for emphasis.
“Horns?” she puzzled.
“Two curls on either side of my face that turned up as devil’s horns.” Somewhere under the wrinkled flaps, Granny had rolled her eyes. It wouldn’t be a far jump to imagine what had inspired the stylist to place said horns on Granny’s forehead, if indeed, the horns had existed in the first place. Renee would never know, since hot pink curlers were protruding from Granny’s head and baking her hair into a dome-shaped mold.
“Where is she?” Granny demanded.
Renee gave up her Cosmopolitan read. Might as well, the cover dated nineteen eighty-two. It was the Christmas edition. “She’s out today.”
“Obviously,” Granny harrumphed. How did old people make that sound? “That Walker boy,” she turned a shrewd eye on Renee. Now that was a tough one.
“Actually, she’s spending the day with Jayce Jordan.” She had to admit it. Somehow, Granny always figured these things out, and Renee hated to be called a liar.
“Jordan…from her high school?” she questioned.
How would she know that? “Well, he went to a different school. Yeah, they’re the same age. He was at the wedding last night; he’s friends with Wilson.” Renee walked to the window and stared at the pool, a nice rectangular tribute that held the interest of a couple splashing in the corner in broad daylight. She quickly turned away and noticed a distant look on Granny’s face. “What’s wrong?”
“What happened in Tatum’s marriage?” She placed her freckled hands on her lap and gripped a hanky.
“Have you asked her?”
Granny shot her the look.
“Fine. Well, it’s electronically complicated, but I’ll give it a go.” Glancing around, there was one nail technician loading her bag, and the hairdresser had taken ten on the lanai. “He set cameras up in her house and projected everything, Granny, on the internet. Which, in turn, netted him some type of profit for his despicable deeds, even though he didn’t share the money with her,” she sighed. “Not to mention the fact that he had paid lovers and stuck her with the bills.”
“He needs to be castrated.” Granny’s face screwed up in anger.
“I can’t believe that came out of your mouth,” she checked her phone. “You surprise me sometimes.” Well, all the time, she considered absently.
“It’s a simple fact,” she lifted her shoulders and let them drop. “Men used to stay at home when they weren’t working. They devoted themselves to their family, the church, and their community. Nowadays, these freaks are taking over the world.”
According to Granny, everyone was taking over the world. “Granny, as much I agree with you about the castration thing, men didn’t keep it in their pants, in your day, either. Mistresses are not a thing of the past, although they come from the past, and you know it.” Renee’s eyes had drifted back to the energetic eighty year olds that graced the pool. Granny needed a distraction in the sun…maybe Lonny. “It doesn’t matter how she arrived at her current situation, but how we can help her rise above it. That starts with moving home, to Fort Myers, with her family.” Yeah, she liked the sound of that.
Granny’s brows snapped together. “Don‘t sass me.”
“I learned from the best,” she patted Granny’s cheek and drew a slurp of diet through her straw. It settled her nerves with all the chemically goodness.
“Jayce Jordan,” Granny continued her assault.
“We’re back to him?”
“Jordans…from Ireland,” she muttered and pressed a thoughtful finger against her chin.
“So? The Shirleys are from Ireland, as well. It’s not like us to be ethnic snobs, especially against our own kind,” she rolled her eyes. Granny had never been racial in her life. Why was there a burn?
“I remember his family. At least, I think I do.”
“Well, if it works out, he’ll be a better catch than Hillman. He is handsome, intelligent, successful, and truly likes her. What more could she ask for?”
“She doesn’t have to rush into anything,” Granny muttered, almost dazed.
“What? Did I hear you correctly? I am in my twenties, Tatum isn’t,” she focused on a silver bottle that had the telltale evidence of blue dye in it. “All I hear is that I’m in my child-bearing years. I should have babies and keep house. What gives? Why does she get a reprieve from you?”
“Hush up and do my laundry,” she snapped. “Remember, I want the washer ran empty the first time with a full cup of vinegar for disinfection. Next load should be three dusters on cold. No more than three or you’ll wear them out.”
Renee cut her off. “I know to measure the soap at half of the recommendation on the side of the bottle. Got it,” she grabbed her keys. “I’ll be back in a few.”
While in the elevator
, Renee checked her messages: none from Tatum and one from Bren. ‘Hey Renee…its Bren, give me a call when you can talk privately. Thanks’. She had never received calls from Bren, but she had contacted Jayce about Troy. Even though she hadn’t seen Troy today, it didn’t mean that Tatum hadn’t. After setting up the laundry, she stowed in Granny’s apartment and returned his call.
Ringing.
“Get that damned phone,” Jayce growled. “She’s still asleep.”
“Hey.” With a bare chest, Bren strolled to the balcony. Perfectly faded jeans caressed the lower half of his body in the most sensual of places. He placed a bare foot on a railing and met the morning sun. “Thanks for returning my call so quickly. Have you heard from Troy?”
“Not since I phoned Jayce last night.”
Bren shook his head at Jayce’s questioning gaze. “I want to send a friend to watch over you until we locate him.”
“Wait a minute, a friend?”
“It’s not a fix up, Renee. I don’t have time for issues, such as those,” he responded.
“Why do I need a babysitter?” she huffed.
“Question,” he pulled at a hair strand.
“Answer,” she snorted.
“At any time last night, did you feel uncomfortable in his presence?” He knew he had her.
“Well, I did let Sugar Baby loose. Otherwise, I think he would have stayed and waited for her,” she freely admitted. “He did threaten to come back.”
Bren heard the phone crack and loosened his grip. “Where are you?”
“Granny’s apartment, I’m stuck on laundry detail,” she opened the blinds and stared into the parking lot. “Shit.”
“What’s wrong? Did you remember something else?” Bren signaled Jayce.
“There’s a strange car here, maybe a rental. I’m not sure. Possibly, it’s my imagination, since you’ve made me feel creepy,” she jerked the blinds shut. Someone was in that car and watched the building.
“Don’t go anywhere,” Bren drawled. “Where does she live?”
“Swaying Palms Assisted Living,” her voice shook. “Listen, I’ll feel bad if you send someone here and there’s nothing wrong.”
“I’ll feel better if that were the case,” he gripped the railing. “Like I said, don’t go anywhere, promise?”
“Promise,” she took a deep breath. She had never been afraid of Troy, but then again, she didn’t know the real Troy. “He was daring last night, Bren, desperate to get her back.”
A red haze entered Bren’s vision. His wolf’s need arose to protect his mate at all cost. His wolf’s need to taste blood sizzled in his gut. Jayce snatched the phone from his claws. Yes, he had extended his claws.
“Good morning, Renee. It’s Jayce.”
“Jayce?”
“His name is Bane,” he replied calmly. “Bane will be escorting you home with our instructions for your safety.”
“What’s going on? Is there something that I don‘t know?” She was clearly puzzled.
“Don’t worry about the whys,” he said. “Just know that we are going to keep you safe from that jackass. Let Granny know not to open her doors. I’ll call the front office and make sure her place is guarded at night,” he breathed deeply. “I don’t know what Troy’s game is this time, especially after twelve months, but I’m going to find out. Until then, we will protect you, as well as Tatum.”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“Listen to Bane and keep in touch. Call me for any reason, even if it’s to check on your sister,” he peeked over at Tatum. The sheets were rustling, and her hair was hanging over the side of the mattress. A well sexed, sleep deprived hellcat.
“She’s still there? Can I speak to her, please?” Renee toed her shoes and eyed the peephole to enter the hall. She needed to throw the dusters in the laundry and get granny from the makeshift salon.
“You most certainly can; when she’s awake. We have to explain the situation to her,” his authority rang through the phone, “and the move, as well.”
“Yikes,” she snickered, “Good luck with that. As far as she knows, she’s flying home today.” She stepped into the hall and looked both ways.
“Make no mistake, Renee,” Jayce openly stared at Tatum’s whisker burned nipples. “Tatum is staying right here where she belongs.” As the sea spray misted the bedroom, her rosy crests tightened into tantalizing beads. He wanted to scrape his canines over them and pump her into tomorrow.
“I hope your right and thanks for the guy, or whatever,” she was embarrassed to be in their debt, but grateful all the same.
“No need for thanks, just stay in touch,” he ended the call and walked his naked ass to the side of the bed.
“I know you’re awake,” he licked the shell of her tiny ear and pushed the hair away from her face. It was a good thing that he was far enough on the balcony that she couldn’t have heard his conversation. “Good morning, honey, are you trying to avoid us?”
“It wasn’t a dirty dream?”
“We haven’t begun to play dirty, honey,” he whispered against her throat. Teeth against her jugular, he wanted a little taste of what belonged to him.
She grimaced as she sat up.
“You’re sore.” It was an embarrassing statement. “I’m sorry, Bren’s not that much longer than me, but he’s exceptionally thick and heavy. At the time, I was certain that you weren’t in pain.” In a blink, his sexy look had turned into concern. “I’ll take care of you,” he kissed her lips, ever so sweetly. “Always, I’ll take care of you. You’ll want for nothing, because I’ll give you the world.”
“We’ll give you the world.” A voice corrected from behind her.
Bren had remained on the balcony, as he made plans for Renee’s security with Bane. Bane had to keep their race a secret from Renee, even though Renee had the scent of a Wolf-mate. Many women didn’t realize that they were naturally chosen to ensure the race of his kind. If, by a rare chance, the pack members were to meet their mates, they were ensured of a prodigy of children that would bless the entire race. It was simple, yet complicated. He was going to have to explain it to Tatum and Renee, eventually.
He exhaled a long breath. “So, am I to understand that you’re in pain?”
“It’s not pain but a delicious ache. You were amazing,” she met Bren‘s proud eyes, “and you,” she turned to Jayce, “convinced me to take the leap and rewarded me in ways that I never dreamt were possible,” she half ducked her head in embarrassment. They had turned her upside down, inside out and over the top. Why was she embarrassed to discuss their lovemaking? Lovemaking, she sighed. That was a thought that stuck in her throat as a swelling burn of emotion.
“What’s with the face, honey?” Jayce wrapped a heavy arm around her and pulled her into his lap. They were both nude, and the warmth of his body spilled into hers.
“It’s just a thought that I had,” she wanted to keep it private, a minor chore for a woman with trust issues. If she couldn’t trust one man, how could she trust two? Somehow, she loved them. Did she always love them? Probably so, she thought.
“What do you choose him over me? What can he give you that I can’t?” Bren blocked her exit.
Chapter 10
“I love you, Tatum.” The bed dipped next to her. Surprised, she hadn
Jayce watched her open for Bren, totally enthralled with the sight of her kissing his best friend. Last night, she had taken them thoroughly. Trying her best, she made no complaints at their size. His erection pressed against her sweet ass, reminiscing and wanting attention.
“My turn,” it was a low growl. Jayce did not mind sharing with Bren, but his wolf was having issues.
Bren released her kiss-swollen lips and cocked a brow. “I left something for you,” he palmed her cheek and turned her towards Jayce. “Lick his lips, Tatum. Show me how hungry he makes you. I want to see it in your eyes and smell it on your body.”
She licked the line of Jayce’s lips. His mouth was warm, masculine
, and tense. “What’s the problem?”
“Didn’t think there was a problem,” he spoke against her mouth and caused a sexy shiver to run up her back. Placing both palms on his chest, she protested with a light shove. She could not have budged him, unless he allowed it.
“Okay, you’re perceptive.”
“I think we should feed her and clean her up, first.” Bren interjected and reached the phone to order breakfast.
