“Does it matter? Somewhere that’s not here,” I yelled back at him and pulled myself from his grasp. “You don’t want me to have your back, then I won’t. No big deal.”
“You know that’s not what this is.” He seethed.
I got right up into his face. “Then what is it, Trey?”
“You’re too important to me to let you go with us.”
“Let me?” My eyes must have flashed with the rage because he stepped back and flinched before seeming to harden his resolve. “I’d actually have to be part of this group in order for you all to have any say in what I do or don’t do. And clearly, that’s not the case.”
“You know what I mean,” he said and I stepped forward again, basically pushing him back up against the wall.
“No, I don’t think I do.”
“I can’t let anything happen to you,” he whispered, his eyes were pleading with me. “I don’t know if I could survive losing you.”
CHAPTER NINETEEN
TREY
I waited what seemed like forever for her to give me some indication that she understood what I was saying. When she shoved me up against the wall, I opened my mouth to try and explain better. Maybe joke with her, I don’t know. It didn’t matter because anything I would have said was cut off when she crashed her lips to mine. Her hands were in my hair pulling it to the point of pain, and when my tongue swept into her she bit down and the coppery taste of blood blended with her sweet taste.
Running my hands down her sides and around to her ass, I smacked her before roaming down to the juncture of her thighs. When I ran the tips of my fingers down her jean covered slit she pulled my hair back and slammed my head into the wall.
“Ow,” I grumbled into her mouth and nipped her bottom lip.
“Don’t think this changes how pissed I am at you.” She moaned.
“Would never dream of it, sunshine.” I smiled reaching up and grabbing her hands from my hair. I’m sure at least a small clump came out when I yanked on it. I pulled her hands behind her back and broke the kiss. Trailing my lips down her neck to her breasts, I sucked the skin of her cleavage into my mouth and she squirmed. Smiling against her, I backed her up until the backs of her knees hit the mattress and pushed her down on it.
“Shirt. Off,” she barked and I smiled. She was trying to take back control but I wasn’t having it.
“Tell me you’ll stay,” I said roughly, never taking my eyes from hers.
The defiant gleam I saw in her eyes told me everything I needed to know. Looking over at the night stand, I saw a glint of metal and an idea struck me. “Hmmm, what are these for, sunshine?” I had just enough of a playful edge to my tone to get a reaction out of her and she moaned. “You want me to use these on you?” She nodded with a seductive smile and that was all I needed. I grabbed one hand and tightened the fuzzy pink cuff on it before wrapping it through the black metal bed frame and attaching the next one to her other wrist. Arching her back, she reached both legs up and wrapped them around my waist and pulled me to her. “Now, fuck me, Trey.”
“Where’s the fun in that?” I asked as I yanked her shirt up over her head. It was caught around her elbows and I smiled at the way it pushed her breasts together.
“Trey, touch me.” She shuddered as I trailed my hands down her sides and made my way to the button on her jeans. Her face was flushed with excitement. I don’t think she had ever trusted someone enough to let them tie her up like this. It gave me an overwhelming sense of possessive pride knowing she trusted me. It also had guilt gnawing at me because I was about to break that trust and she may never forgive me.
Ripping her jeans down her legs, I trailed my hands up her calves to her inner thighs and spread her apart for me. “God, your fucking incredible,” I said, my voice rough with need.
Trailing a finger up her slit, I pushed it inside her and watched as she arched off the bed panting. “Yes, oh God yes.”
My mouth was watering with the need to taste her, so I leaned forward and sucked her clit into my mouth roughly. Her hips bucked and I murmured around her engorged clit and pushed a second finger in pumping quickly and lapping at her juices until she came with her wild mane of blond hair whipping back and forth. She was pulling at her restraints and I nearly came myself.
“Now. Fuck me now. I need you inside me.” She panted and moaned.
Grabbing my wallet, I made a show of unbuckling my pants and grabbing my painfully hard cock out and pumping it a few times before rolling a condom on and positioning myself at her entrance.
“Wait, take the cuffs off. I want to touch you,” she breathed. It took every bit of restraint I had not to do what she asked. Before she knew what was happening I thrust inside her burying myself to the hilt. I had to stop to catch my breath and get my bearings or this would be over before it began. I didn’t want it to end. There was a very real possibility that after what I had planned she would never forgive me, so this could very well be the last time I was inside her and I wanted to savor it.
Leaning over her, I pulled one of her dusky pink nipples into my mouth as I pumped into her slowly. “Stop teasing me, and fuck me, hard.”
She thrashed on the bed when I bit down onto her nipple and rubbed a thumb over her pulsing clit. Watching her as she came undone for the second time broke the dam, and I couldn’t stop myself from pounding into her with an almost bruising force. Reaching down, I squeezed her ass and tilted her hips up to angle in even deeper and the high pitched keening sound that came from her mouth along with her inner muscles clenching me and milking my cock, had me coming on a roar.
Collapsing on top of her, I brought my lips to hers for a slow sweet kiss and whispered in her ear. “Please forgive me.”
“What?” she asked warily as I moved from the bed and wrapped a sheet around her sweat-soaked body before removing the condom and fixing my clothes.
“Trey?” She looked at me with dread. “Take them off now. This isn’t funny.”
“Sorry, sunshine. I can’t have you following me,” I said heading to the door.
“Trey Nathanial Thomas. I swear to God if you don’t take these things off right now, I will end you,” she screamed.
Walking out the door, I closed it behind me blocking out the creative expletives she was hurling my way. I smiled sadly before heading to my room to grab my still-packed suitcase and headed downstairs.
Everyone was in the living room when I arrived, and I knew by the looks they were giving me they knew exactly what we had been up to. Heat crept up my neck when Kaylee smiled and winked at me.
“Mac? Can you do me a favor?” I asked carefully.
“What do you need?” He looked suspicious, but I just smiled.
“Hold on to this for me.” I laughed and dropped the key to the handcuffs in his hand.
“What?” Marcy looked at me aghast. “Where’s Kenzie?”
“She’s… umm… been detained.” I grinned and Mac started laughing hysterically.
“You didn’t?” Kaylee asked eyeing me warily. Whatever look I gave her must have confirmed her suspicions because she glanced over at Marcy with a raised eyebrow and they both started cackling. “You realize that you’re a dead man, right?”
“Someone needed to show you women that we meant it when we threatened to tie you to the bed.” They both glared at me. Mac and Griffin snickered.
“The plane leaves in three hours, just make sure you don’t let her out until then.”
“I’ll make sure.” Mac laughed. I heard Marcy and Kaylee’s outraged voices echo through the house as I shut the door behind me.
CHAPTER TWENTY
KENZIE
That motherfucker!
That lying piece of shit handcuffed me to the bed and left me there. I was going to torture him slowly and without mercy. As I laid there screaming my head off for someone to let me out of the damn handcuffs, I contemplated whether I wanted to cut his fingers off first or his balls. Either
way, he was losing a vital part of his anatomy after the shit he just pulled. I never should have trusted him. I knew that. Everyone betrays you at some point, and I was the one stupid enough to think that he would be the exception to that rule.
I didn’t even notice the door crack open, I was so busy trying to break the metal headboard and bellowing with rage.
“Kenzie? Are you decent?” Marcy asked quietly. I could tell from her red cheeks that she was trying desperately not to laugh.
“Yeah, he oh-so-considerately covered me with a sheet before he left me to rot.” I punctuated my words with another hard shake, but the bed still wouldn’t come free.
“Oh okay. I came to see if you wanted any water or anything,” she said closing the door behind her.
“Yeah, how about getting me the damn key so I can go maim a goofy hacker.”
“Sorry, he gave it to Mac, and he won’t give it up until Trey and Griffin’s plane leaves in about two and a half hours.” She grimaced.
“He expects me to stay chained to this bed for two and a half hours?” I roared. “Mac won’t uncuff me, he hates me. He’s probably getting some sick satisfaction knowing that I’m in here chained up and he has all the power. Why would he give the key to him?”
“Because he knows me and Kaylee would help you immediately and he doesn’t want you to follow him.”
“That overprotective overbearing asshole,” I shouted angrily. “He would rather have me pissed at him than over there maybe keeping him alive?”
“He’s just like the rest of them. He’s trying to keep you safe, even if it means you hate him for the rest of his life. At least you’ll be around to hate him,” she replied solemnly.
“I know what you’re trying to do,” I grumbled. “It’s not gonna work. He needs someone to watch his back.”
“He has Griffin.”
“Yeah, because he had his back earlier?” I questioned and she flinched.
“These guys have a weird dynamic. I never quite understood it myself. But, Giff isn’t gonna let anything happen to Trey.”
“He has a funny way of showing it.”
“Griffin is more of a thinker than everyone else. He weighs all the facts and then makes his decision.”
“Well apparently he has made up his mind about me, and I’m obviously not good enough for his brother.” I turned my head away from her and sighed. “I can’t feel my fingers, if I promise not to go after him, will you take these damn cuffs off?”
“We’re at the bargaining stage already?” She laughed. “Sorry, but like I said, Mac has the key and there is no way I’m getting it until Trey is gone. But, trust and believe the second that happens he is giving me that key. Gimpy or not, I will tackle his ass if I have to.”
I laughed at that. Marcy was a feisty little thing and I had no doubt that she would tackle him for it if she had to. “There has to be a way to get off this bed.”
“I think there might be. Do you mind if I come over and look?”
“If you think you can get this thing unhooked you can do whatever you want.” I grinned at her.
“Trey and Mac will probably kill me but I can’t just leave you here.” She smiled. “Plus, I’m thinking we need to go help the guys. After you and Trey left, Marie had some interesting things to show us about these pirates, and I have a feeling it might be harder than they realize to get the kids out.”
“So, wait? You’re helping me? I thought you just said…”
“I told you what his reasons were. I didn’t say I agreed with them. Mac is gonna kill me after this.” She chuckled.
Kaylee walked in a second later with a pair of bolt cutters in her hand. “This was the only thing I could find out in the shed. It should do the trick.”
“Wait? You’re helping me too? Why? I don’t even know you.”
“Trey threatened to tie me to a bed once to protect me too. In the end, doing what he asked hurt worse than it would have if I had gone. I’ll tell you the story someday. Their misguided attempts to protect us sometimes do more harm than good, and the love of my life is walking into a camp of pirates to save my kids with only one other person he trusts to have his back. I need them all back. Trey included. So, if helping you means getting everyone back safely then of course I’m gonna do it.”
An audible snap went through the air and my arms slumped to my sides. I was never happier to have the use of my arms.
“Get dressed,” Marcy said with a smile. “Bob has a plane meeting us at an old abandoned airstrip not far from here in an hour. It should give us plenty of time to grab some weapons and slip past Mac.”
“Wait, you’re coming with me?” I asked dreading her answer. None of the guys would ever trust me again if something happened to Marcy.
“I was in the military too, Kenzie. I know what I’m doing.” She winked. “These guys tend to forget that sometimes.”
Hopping off the bed, I reached for my bag and pulled out a pair of black cargo pants and started pulling them on. “What about Kaylee and Tasha? Who will protect them if Barnes finds this place?”
“Hey! I may not have been in the military or anything like that but I am more than capable of protecting myself.” Kaylee stomped her foot. “These damn men think we are all weak and helpless. We aren’t.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you,” I said with my back to her trying to fix my shirt around the fuzzy cuffs. I groaned and looked over my shoulder at Marcy. “Tell me good ole Bob will have some keys for these damn things when we get to the plane.”
“Of course.” She grinned.
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
TREY
“You know that’s not gonna last long, right?” Griffin asked as we sat in the airport waiting for our flight to be called. The nearest airport had been an hour drive from the safe house and I spent the entire drive thinking about the way I left her.
“I’m sure the girls already found a way to get her out of there and she is trying to find a way to catch up to us.”
“She’s probably on her way here to cut your balls off.” He looked over at me and grinned. I winced, not needing the affirmation because I was pretty damn sure he was right.
“Don’t talk like that, dude. It’s gonna be okay. We will go get the kids back, end this thing with Barnes, and then I will spend the rest of my life groveling at her feet.”
I hoped to God.
“The rest of your life, huh?” Griffin looked at me like I had grown a second head.
“Yeah, you got a problem with that?” I was still defensive with Griff. He’d gone back and forth with his either trusting her or not and quite frankly, I was still pissed.
“I don’t know. Kenzie doesn’t seem like the settling down type. I just don’t want to see you get hurt.”
“Yeah, whatever Griff.” I turned around to hide my disappointment in him. “You don’t know anything about her.”
“I didn’t mean anything by it, just making an observation.”
With that I turned back around. I was sick of this shit with my own brother. I’d always had his back with everything, and the lack of trust emanating from him was infuriating. “Your observations only made things worse when Mac was ranting about this being all her fault.”
He just shook his head and said, “You gotta let this go before we get to Somalia. Things like that running through your head make you sloppy. Sloppiness can get us both killed.”
“I’m just supposed to get over it?” I glared at him. “Did you ever think to apologize for not having my back? Or, for letting your “brother” blame her for everything that’s wrong in his life?”
“Mac’s going through a rough time. He feels useless because he can’t protect anyone. He’s lashing out at everyone.”
I couldn’t help the sarcastic laugh exploding from me. Never before had I felt like more of an outsider in my own family than I did now. After getting the kids back, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but leaving G
TT was looking like it was in the list of the top three things in my upcoming future. “That makes it okay? He can sit there and blame everyone else but the guy who is actually responsible, and you will just defend him because he’s going through a rough time? Make your excuses all you want, Griff I’m tired of my own brother, who I have worshiped since I was a child, always standing up for everyone else instead of me.” If we didn’t have to board a plane, and if three childrens’ lives weren’t at stake, I would have left; the unimaginable hurt was almost more than I could take. Needing a few moments to myself, I got up and walked around for a bit until my phone started ringing and I saw Mac’s number.
“Yeah, what’s up?”
“I’m gonna kill your fucking girl, that’s what’s going on!” he roared into the phone.
“What the fuck, man?” I started making my way back toward Griffin, assuming I was going to have to break it to him that my plan was now screwed.
“She and Marcy are gone. Kaylee won’t tell me what they’re planning; just that they left.”
“Wait, they both left? And, Kay was in on it?” Griffin looked at me in horror and I had a slight sense of righteousness go through me. Seems like my girl wasn’t the only one who could cause trouble. Served both him and Mac right.
“Yeah,” Mac continued but sounded a little less pissed, “it looks like they got a hold of some bolt cutters and cut the cuffs off. I think they are headed your way. It’s the only thing that makes sense.”
“Won’t matter, they’re not gonna make it. We’re getting ready to board the plane now.”
I heard a scuffle over the phone and next thing I knew Kaylee was on the phone.
“Oh don’t pout Mac,” she said and I could hear her teasing through the phone. Griffin was nearly shaking in rage next to me, and I was surprised he hadn’t already grabbed the phone out of my hand. “They aren’t on their way there.”
“Kaylee… where are they headed?”
“Don’t use that tone with me, Trey. I’m not telling you anything.”
