The Outbreak Series (Book 2): Outbreak The Living Page 5

by Deausha Kristal

I see that it is a cheese and fruit plate with a glass of iced tea. My tummy rumbles on its own. Well, I better eat now while I can, on the road it’s going to be slim pickings. Sitting on the couch, I watch Gary start the fire. That will be nice taking the chill out of here.

“Hey Gary, there’s more than enough for both of us, help yourself,” I say.

Looking over at me he sits down and grabs some cheese. “Thanks, Egypt,” he says.

Staring into the fire, I wonder what the family is doing back home. I really miss it there. I know that things are going to have to change since this happened, but it is still safe, it is home. I wonder where Mack is. If I know him like I think I do, he is following Hunter back. So I need to be ready when he gets here. Hearing a noise, I look at the door and see Jake walking in. Looking down at my watch I see that a few hours have passed and its 11:30pm. He says a few things to Gary and then walks over to me and sits in front of the fire. I know one thing is for sure, I am not kissing him again or at least not willing.

Getting up, I go into the bathroom turning the water on in the shower. Taking off my clothes I hop in. After a quick wash I turn off the water and wrap up in towels. I put on the jammies that are on the counter. They are boy shorts and a tank top. Unwrapping my hair, I take a brush through it and leave it down to dry. Looking at myself in the mirror I run my fingertips over my bruises, damn I’m going to have these for a few days that is for sure. Lifting up my shirt I see a bruise there as well. There’s really no need to look at my knee I know that it is bruised and swollen.

Opening up the door I walk back out and sit by the fire. Jake is sitting on the couch staring at me. I guess I would too being dressed as I am.

“I’m going to get a shower and then we can head to bed, it’s been a long day today,” he says.

“You can go to sleep if you want to, I’m not tired," I say. Looking over at him, I can tell that he’s not going to take no for an answer.

“Egypt, I’m not going to argue with you about this. What I say goes!!” he says.

I don’t get to say anything else because he’s in the bathroom with the door closed. Shit what am I going to do? I cannot kiss him again. It is just wrong and my traitorous body wants him. I think it has just been way too long. Taking a drink of my tea I look back to the fire, man it is cozy in here. Leaning my head back I close my eyes, I can hear the water running in the bathroom. Some guys in the other room are talking and having a good time. God! Mack come for me.

Something wakes me up, but I don’t move. It is so warm so I snuggle closer. How did I get into bed last night? Opening my eyes I look around the room. I am at the funny farm house. Looking over, Jake is still sleeping. His arm is around my waist, so I cannot move. Looking down, I notice I don’t have any clothes on. What the hell happened to them? Pushing Jake's arm off me I sit up wrapping the blanket around me. Jake stirs, stretching he looks over at me grinning.

“Jake! Why the hell don’t I have clothes on? You dick!” I say.

Chuckling, he says, “Whoa there, Egypt, I don’t have any either.”

“You asshole…” I don’t get to finish Jake pushes me back down to the bed. I can’t move,

“Get the fuck off me, Jake!”

“Egypt, you might as well get used to this,” motioning between us, “this is how you are going to be sleeping from now on. With nothing on, I like looking at your hot body and there’s nothing you are going to be able to do about it,” he says.

He takes his hand and starts to slowly run it down my ribs over my hips and begins to run them over my lower tummy. Squirming I try to move myself so he cannot touch me. All I am accomplishing is making him want me more. I can feel his hardness against my thigh. There’s a knock on the door, and I stop moving. Jake makes sure I am covered and tells them to come in. I know my face is red, I mean come on, I am in bed naked with my kidnapper.

Looking around Jake I see that it’s Gus.

“Hey boss, Hunter is back,” Gus says.

“OK, Gus, I’ll be out in 15 minutes, tell him not to go anywhere,” Jake says.

Gus looks at me and I know I am blushing. Smiling, he nods his head and leaves closing the door behind him.

Jake gets off me and stands up. I should have looked away but his body is amazing. Looking at his chest, my eyes start to travel down his body. I get to his navel and stop myself. Blushing I look up and see him staring at me.

Smiling at me he says “Egypt, you're safe for now, there’s things I need to take care of this morning, but tonight I will have you, whether you want me or not. Call it what you will,” he says. Watching him he goes to the bathroom and gets dressed, looking over at me in the bed one last time he opens the door and leaves. Throwing my hands up over my face, I exhale, I didn’t realize that I was holding my breath. OK, I have to think, if Hunter is back, there is a good chance that Mack and Sal are not far behind him. Moving the blankets off me I sit up. God, I am as stiff as a board. My knee is black and blue, but the swelling is down. My ribs are the same way. And who knows what my face looks like. I wrap the sheet around me and make my way to the bathroom. Walking to the shower I turn it on and let it warm up.

I grab some clothes out of my pack and drop the sheet and get into the shower. Letting the water run down me I know that I have to ready in case he is here. I hurry up and get finished. Turning off the water I get out and dry off. Grabbing my clothes, I get dressed. Brushing my hair, I throw it into a messy bun. Looking in the mirror I see that my jaw is black and blue. I sure have been through the ringer and back. Screw Hunter, he will get what’s coming to him.

Going back to the bedroom, Gus is waiting by the door. Stopping where I am, I look over at him.

“Egypt, Jake told me to get you for breakfast,” he says.

“Alright, Gus, Let me get my boots on and I’ll be ready,” I say.

Walking over to where I left them last night, I start to put them on. It still hurts to bend my knee. And I still walk with a bit of a limp.

“I’m ready, Gus, thanks for babysitting me,” I say.

“Not a problem, Egypt,” he says smiling.

Shaking my head, I follow him out the door, looking around the guys are up and going about their morning. Some are eating, others are drinking coffee and there are a few doing different things. I do not see Jake anywhere or Hunter for that matter. They must be outside. Making my way to the bar there is an empty seat so I sit down. Willie comes over with coffee and hands it to me smiling. I like the tall black man, he can’t help that his boss is a total prick!

“Morning, Egypt, hope you slept well and are hungry, I’ll get the food to you here right quick,” he says, smiling at me

“Thanks, Willie, I have a question for ya. What happened to that guy last night?" I ask.

Willie looks around to see if anyone is paying attention to us. “They took him off somewhere, Egypt. That’s all I know."

“Oh, thank you, Willie,” I say.

I go back to drinking my coffee and listen to the guys talk around me. I hear the two next to me talk about Hunter and how much trouble he is in. I really didn’t think Jake would do anything about what he did to me, but I guess I am wrong. Hearing a huge commotion outside, I look over that way. I can’t really see anything, but how the guys are acting it is something big. Getting up I start my way over to the door. It is crowded by the door as everyone is trying to get out and see what’s going on.

Making it out the door, someone grabs my arm and pulls me to the side. Looking up, I see that it’s Gus. Looking out to the yard, I see it's Jake and Hunter and they are fighting. God! Jake is pounding on him good, too. Stepping closer, I watch it all unfold.

“What the fuck were you thinking Hunter, she’s a woman and you beat the shit out of her, you asshole,” Jake says.

“She’s just a chick, Jake. What the fuck, man? You're sticking up for her?” He wipes blood from his mouth.

“Hunter, I’m going to give you, just what you gave her,” Jake says.

p; Jake rounds on Hunter, Hunter doesn’t wait and rushes Jake. Jake grabs Hunter and throws him to the ground. Getting on top of him he starts punching him in the face. Jake stands up and kicks Hunter in the ribs a few times. God Hunter is not moving I think Jake has killed him, I see Gus and a few other guys run to Jake and pull him off Hunter.

“Man, Jake, stop! You fucked him up good,” says Gus. I see a few guys drag Hunter into the house.

“Gus, you seen what he did to her, there’s no excuse for that EVER!” Jake says.

I can hear it in his voice that he is just barely hanging on. I slowly start my way back to the door and stop when I realize Jake is staring at me. A shiver runs through my body and I am actually afraid of him. Jake walks over to me and grabs my hips and pushes me to the house. My back hits the door jamb and pain shoots through it. My breath hitches.

“Jake, let me the hell go,” I say. Putting my hands on his chest, I push but he doesn’t budge. He leans in close pressing his body against mine and leans into my ear, I can feel his hot breath on my neck.

“You're mine tonight, Egypt, and I don’t care how I have to take you,” he says.

“I will not ever be willing sleep with you, Jake! GET THE HELL OFF ME. NOW!!” I grind out.

Struggling I try and get away from him, I can feel him laughing at my efforts. He grabs my wrists and pulls me to him, with my knee the way it is I fall into him. He pulls me through the door and drags me through the house.

“Jake, stop, let go of me you asshole,” I say. Taking my weight, I throw myself against him trying to knock him off balance. It works and we crash into the bar. He lets go and I try and run. Feeling him grab my hair, I am yanked back against him. My eyes water from the pain in my head. What the hell is wrong with him?

I hear a few of the guys shout at him and he loosens his hold on my hair but does not let go. He continues to push me to the bedroom.

“Jake, don’t do this, it will be rape, I thought you were a man,” I say. My God! He is going to force himself on me. He does not say anything to me as we reach the bedroom door. I look around at the other guys and they just look away. They are going to let this happen, they are not going to stop him from raping me. He kicks the door open and closes it behind us. He heads towards the bed. Throwing me on it, he straddles me. I hit his chest and face, anywhere I can make contact. He grabs my hands and puts them above my head and ties them to the bedposts.

“OMG! Jake, stop please don’t do this, it’s wrong and you know it,” I beg. Tears start falling down my face and for the first time I’m really scared, there’s nothing I can do to stop this and I know it.

“Stop fighting me, Egypt, I really don’t want to hurt you, this could be enjoyable for both of us if you just want it to.” He says.

He runs his hands down my sides and unbuttons my jeans. “Jake! NO, Stop!!!” I yell.

He stops what he’s doing and grabs a bandana out of his back pocket and ties it around my mouth so that I cannot scream and yell anymore. He goes back to what he was doing and unbuttons my jeans, I kick out and he grabs my leg. Pain shoots down my leg as he holds it down and gets my jeans the rest of the way down. After that he ties my legs to the bed post and sits back. Looking at him with tears in my eyes, I cannot believe I hate another human being as much as I hate him right now.

“I’ll be back tonight, Egypt. I suggest you be ready for me,” he says. He looks down my body and takes his hand and runs it down my neck, he stops at me breast and runs his hand over it. I try telling him to stop but with the gag in my mouth it is just a strangled sound. He continues his assault and runs his hand down my stomach, my muscles tighten up as he moves his hands down to my panties. He looks me in the eyes and slides his hand under them and rubs me down there. I buck to try to get his hand off me and he chuckles, Bending down he licks my neck and slides a finger inside me. I fight against my restraints and he moans into my ear.

“Egypt, you feel so good,” he says. I feel him pull his finger out and slide it back in.

“This is just a taste of what I’m going to do to you tonight,” he says. He pulls his finger out and sticks his finger in his mouth. “You taste so good, I can’t wait to have more,” he says.

He gets up off the bed and walks over to the door. “I was going to say sorry for tying you up, but I now see this will be just that much more fun. See you in a few hours, Egypt," he says.

I lay there a few minutes until I know he’s not coming back. I try and move my arms, but they are tied too tight to get them loose. It is the same with my legs. I am stuck here and there’s nothing I can do.

  Chapter 7

I must have fallen to sleep, looking around I see that I am still alone. It is getting dark out. How long was I sleeping? I feel that I am covered up now and there’s a light on in the corner. I try again to get free and I still cannot. I hear a noise coming from the bathroom and my heart starts to race. Jake is back. I watch the door for a few minutes and do not hear anything again. I settle down and see a shadow on the wall. I start to struggle again to get free. Looking over I see Mack! I must be seeing things. How would he be here. I see him lock the door and drag a chair in front of it. He starts to walk over to the bed and bends down to take the gag out of my mouth….

“Shhh. Egypt, we have to be quiet. They are just in the other room. You have to get up and get moving,” he says.

I look at him and can’t believe he’s here, and that were going to get out of here.

“Mack, I can’t get up I’m tied to the bed,” I whisper. I know that I have to be turning all shades of red. He reaches for the blanket and pulls it down. I can’t look him in the eyes, I know what I’ll see there.

“What the fuck, Egypt? What did he do? Never mind that now. Listen, you need to get your clothes on and grab your bag over there in the corner. We have to move fast. Are you going to be able to run, Egypt?" he asks as he’s untying me.

“Yeah, Mack, I can run,” I say. I sit up after my arms are untied, they hurt like hell with the blood rushing to them. He does not look at me and goes to untie my legs. I am glad he doesn’t because it is taking everything I have not to just lose it here.

“OK, get ready. I’m going to go listen at the door," he says.

I slowly get up and move my legs to get the blood back. Bending down I grab my jeans and slip them on. I grab my socks and boots and do the same. Walking over to the chair I grab the hoodie and put it on. And sling my backpack on my back.

“Mack, I’m ready.” Looking around the room that was my prison, I wait for him. He takes me by the hand and leads me to the bathroom. He steps in the bathtub and looks out the window.

“OK, Egypt, I’m going to help you out the window, just stay close to the side of the house," he says.

He gently grabs hold of me almost like he is afraid to touch me and helps lift me up. Grabbing hold of the window sill, I lift myself up and onto it. Looking down it is really not that far to jump.

“I’ll be right behind you. I promise, Egypt,” he says.

I jump down and move myself to the side of the house to wait for him. Looking up at the window, I see he starts to come out. He lands softly beside me and grabs my hand again.

“Now, we need to run. Stay with me, Egypt. No matter what you hear, keep running to the woods,” he whispers.

Nodding my head, we slowly make our way to the end of the house. It is a really dark night. The moon is cloud covered. That is perfect for us. It takes my eyes awhile to adjust to the dark. Mack stops at the corner of the house and slowly looks around the corner. I can hear guys up front. They are talking about what they are doing tomorrow. Mack bends down to my ear and whispers.

“Listen, Egypt, there’s no easy way about this. We’re just going to have to run. I have a truck a few miles up the road in a garage, we have to stay in the woods as much as possible,” he says.

“OK, Mack, I just want to get out of here,” I whisper.

He squeezes my hand and pulls me forward. I know Mack is
not running as fast as he can. There would be no way for me to keep up. The grass is wet and slippery. I am glad he is holding my hand. We run for about five minutes and stop at the barn. We duck behind it and stop. My knee starts to hurt me and I know I will not be able to keep this pace up for long.

“Egypt, stay here; I’m going to go around the barn and see if they have noticed you gone yet. Stay here and catch your breath, I’ll be back,” Mack says looking at me.

“I’ll be okay. Go do what you need to do, Mack.” Leaning back against the barn, to rest a bit.

Mack makes his way around the barn and out of sight. Bending down, I catch my breath. Taking my hands, I run them over my knee. It is starting to swell up again. Shit, I give it a few hours and I will be limping again. Feeling my ribs, they are tender. I am sure this running is causing this. Still bent over, I look around, the woods are about 500 yards away. If we can get to them, we will have better cover. Hearing a noise, I look over to where Mack went. Seeing him coming around the corner, he doesn’t seem freaked out. He’s taking his time so that would mean nothing is going on yet. I know it is only a matter of time before they raise the alarm. Jake will be going into that room and find me gone.

“OK, Egypt, I don’t think they know you’re gone yet. We need to move and fast. I want to get as much distance between us and them as we can, babe,” Mack says.

“OK, let’s get moving then. The sooner we get away, the sooner we can slow down, Mack. I’m still messed up from that fight with Hunter,” I say.

I really don’t want to bring that up, I’m not a weak woman, but I did get the shit beat out of me. Looking over at Mack I wonder what he’s thinking. Does he think I am weak? This is no time for thinking that way. I can feel sorry for myself later, once were safe. Shaking my head to clear it, I grab Mack’s hand. Suddenly we hear a big crash from the house. Jumping, I squeeze Mack’s hand.

“We need to go NOW, Egypt. They know you’re gone,” Mack says. I can hear the urgency in his voice. We start running again, this time towards the woods. I do not look back, but I can hear yelling and trucks starting up and leaving. I see that Mack looks behind us as he mumbles something I cannot make out. We do not slow down. We keep running.
