“You didn’t know, and I’m the one who sent you after your mother. How is she by the way?”
“She had Anders tied up at her house and tortured.”
“Wow! Is she all right now?”
“I see you didn’t ask about Anders. That’s interesting seeing how you were on me to not harm anyone at Calison.” Thorne helped her from the bed, as her wound had already stopped bleeding and had started to visibly heal.
“You’re still upset about that?” Saina asked him mildly.
“Not upset, just wanting to understand your lack of interest in Anders’ welfare.”
She raised her eyebrow and then finally sighed. “Your mother is due her revenge. Anything she would’ve done to that fuck, he deserved it. You didn’t suffer what she did.” She held his gaze. “I told you not to harm anyone there to avoid exactly what happened today. I didn’t want any more people in Calison placed in harm’s way. I didn’t want Anders and his sons to have an excuse to come demanding war.”
“They came anyway,” he reminded her.
Saina beamed up at him and wrapped her arm around his waist. He hugged her to him. “Yes they did, and my bad-boy husband royally handed them their asses.”
He bent his head and gave her a probing kiss.
“Damn, I can’t leave you two alone for a second,” Tarik complained. “I thought y’all wanted to see your baby.”
“What?” Thorne hadn’t stopped kissing his wife when Tarik came into the room, but at the mention of baby, he lifted his head.
“Congratulations, brother dear, you have a son.”
“H…how?” Thorne was stunned.
Tarik placed the newborn in his arms while Saina grinned in triumph.
“You’re a doctor, babe. I’m sure you know how a baby comes into the world.”
Tarik quietly left them.
“He’s so big, so beautiful,” he whispered in awe.
“You were telling me about what I mustn’t do?” she asked smugly.
“I’ll always love you,” he vowed achingly.
“I’ll always be here for you, for our family,” she promised.
“Inseparable?” he demanded.
“Yes, inseparable.”
