Once we’re clear of the tall grass. I notice something I never thought I’d saw. It has big long thin legs, marked in red black and white blotches. It sits on a spindled web and I drop and shriek. Everyone regards me with surprise but I didn’t care—all I care about was that rotten spider. “Kal. It’s just a spider.” Dante proclaims and I didn’t dare look. The sight of it makes my skin crawl and my limbs shake.
“She’s really scared.” I hear Zeanna said and she drops down beside me. “Hey, we’ll get rid of them okay.”
“Them?” I question as I freeze, “As in more than one?”
Zeanna doesn’t said anything and I glanced up and there are tons and tons of spiders patiently waiting in their webs for a fool like me to walk past them. “I’m surprised she noticed them.” Dante states.
“Normally people with high cases of arachnophobia are a little more vigilant of spiders. Than people who are scared of close spaces.” Asashin declares.
“Okay, if that’s the case, then what’s your fear?” Dante teases as he moves over to Asashin and crosses his arms. With a risen brow he presses, “Come on, you got to be afraid of something right?”
“Not in your lifetime will I tell you.” Asashin rebuts and I smile. That’s Asashin for ya. I think as I take in the sight of the fallen spiders. They sit curled up along the ground and the thought of going anywhere near them makes my skin crawl.
“Done.” Volvomich affirms.
I force myself to stand and I couldn’t help but stare at the sight. I take a small step forward and freeze at the sight of a spider at my boot. “Kal?” I hear Zeanna question, “Are you going to be okay?”
“I’ll be okay.” I said and take another step forward.
“Oh for the love of—” Dante saids.
“Dante!” I hear Zeanna, Asashin and Volvomich growl as I was lifted off the ground. I regard Dante in shock as he walks forwards. The thought of his feet near the dead spiders causes my fear to blister and boil beneath my skin and I burry my head in my hands.
“You’ll be okay.” Dante whispers as I hear the others follow after him. Once I was free of the pestering spiders, Dante puts me down and I regard the sight of wondered before me in awe. I saw a large waterfall, ran off into a streaming river beside it are sand banks that protrude on either side thick jungles.
“This place was beautiful.” I said and realise we’re inside a large cave.
“Yeah but there’s probably some more monsters around.” Volvomich declares.
“Yay.” Zeanna sarcastically saids.
“This was going to take a while to sift through to find all the monsters.” Mikaro saids.
I glanced at him and regard him for a moment longer, “Where were you?”
“I was here, just quiet.”
“Oh.” I said.
“Yeah, oh.” I turn to the right of me and notice a moss smeared path. I head down the path and felt the others follow after me. It isn’t long until we’re at the base of the cliffside that stretches high into the sky. Shrubs and leafy trees surround the clearing and I was left wondered ing where on earth we were expected to start. Then I hear a voice. Glancing up I notice something fall towards us and fast.
“Move!” I call and we vacate the area. Something large shatters the ground we once stood on and I was surprised at what I saw; a large Troll with blue skin staring back at us. He handles a large sword in hand and at his waist a knife resembling a swiss dagger. He grumbles a laugh and stands to face us.
“You tiny little creatures.” the troll teases. “You here was a stupid move.”
“The only stupid one here was you, tubby.” Dante mocks as he summons a ninjaken a Japanese short sword often held by Shinobi of feudal Japan. Dante, I notices, handles the weapon as if he’s used it his whole life. Asashin I notice summons a katana while Zeanna summons gauntlets. Mikaro, Volvomich and I summon our sterling broadswords.
Like that, the battle begins and soon it ends and the troll shatters like the monster before him in a sheen of glass. I regard my comrades a little surprised and they merely smirk at me. It feels like this isn’t really real. It feels like we’re having the time of our lives and it feels like this whole experience was nothing but a dream.
There in the midst of nothing, I realise something very important but for now I will work hard to keep that secret from everyone. It isn’t until I was certain that I’ll reveal what it is.
“Kal, are you ready to go?” Dante askeds and I nod following after them. I nod and follow after my eyes alert and peeled for danger.
Later, after trudging for hours on end through the forest we come across an Outlander—a monster. He growls at us and I tell the others to stay back. I summon my sword in hand and a diamond shaped shield in the other hand as the monster charges at me and I regard the sight of the monster for a moment before stepping back and avoiding his attack. I felt the wind from the blade swish against my features. I regard the monster with a sullen smirk and he glares and growls at me before swiping his sword at me again. I regard this monster a little too casually for his liking and I’ve noticed something knew about all this.
This monster isn’t happy that I was so relaxed. No—it’s beyond furious. I was surprised by this and watch as the monster leaps at me. I bring my sword forward and its long claws slide along the metal screeching against my ears and because of it I was pushed back a bit by that attack and managed to keep my balance. The serpant like monster crawls along the ground and heads for my ankels where it wraps its body around me and squeezes. I was in shock at first but not before long, I recover and use my power of flight. I float into the air and drop, before I hit the ground the monster vanishes and I land on my feet.
