“Yes.” I laughed. I’d forgotten that we really didn’t know each other that well. “Maybe you could come by and see some of them. You know, when you’re not busy.”

He didn’t say anything for a while. “Do you always go to the gym on Fridays around eleven?”

“Yes. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, sometimes on the weekend too.” Was he trying to avoid me, or see me more often? I wasn’t really sure either way. I figured I should give him every day that I was there. That way he knew.

“Well, that’s good to know.” He kissed my forehead.

  “Trust me, I don’t mind.”

I stared at him in disbelief. “Are you fucking kidding me?”

  “Not at all.”

I looked down at the $200 jeans he was holding. He’d actually just suggested buying them for me.

“Really, do you want to have to wear the same outfit again today? All day? I thought girls were worried about that kind of thing.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Are you trying to say I don’t look good anymore?”

“No!” He quickly backtracked. I couldn’t help but laugh. I hadn’t meant to come across as anything more than a joke.

  “Relax, I’m just bugging you.”

“Oh.” I saw his shoulders relax. “Well, in that case, yes. I think you look dreadful and you should let me buy you new clothes, lots of them.”

I laughed louder. “Nice try, but I’m not buying it.”

“Alright, fine, at least let me buy you a new outfit? Please? I feel bad for not warning you that you should bring a change of clothes.”

I rolled my eyes. “Fine. But let’s go somewhere a little cheaper.”

I reached out and grabbed his hand, our fingers tangled together as we made our way down the street and back towards the hotel.

“We are not getting you hotel clothes,” Jacob demanded.

“Why not?! What if I like something?” I refused to look at him as we made our way to the back of the store—the sale part.

“Fine, if you really like something, but you’re going to let me take you shopping somewhere nice some other time.”

“Some other time?” I turned to look at him. “So there is going to be another time?”

His eyes locked on me. “Of course there will be. That is, if you want to see me again. Do you?”

  “Of course I do!”
