“Hey don’t be embarrassed Honey girl,” I said, “He’s a great guy. But you don’t have to worry about me pushing up on Buzzy. I have my eyes set on the music and seeing the world. Its not often I get to be out of the house.” I got up then helped her get up out of the sand, “Ok now that we got out of way, could you lay off the whole vixen sneak disses? Can we be friends now?”
“Sure.” Honey answered. She reached for a handshake.
“What are you doing with that?” I asked. I gave her a hug instead. She accepted the real friendship. We then went up the hill and got my guitar. I strapped it over my shoulder and we continued to walk in search of the mic of influence from the GPS scouter. The signal was weak but we had plenty of time on our hands.
“How did you learn how to play a guitar?” she asked.
“Well,” I said, “I saw this guy. He was a prisoner that used to be a rocker. He shredded that guitar one good time until he ate one of my moms cupcakes. After that, it was sitting in a corner for weeks. I did nothing but look at it dying to try it out. Mom made me clean that room and that was when I picked it up in that corner. I then started playing it. Every day I couldn't think about anything but coming home from daycare to rock out in my room. Then I researched some hot guitar players. Then I practiced and practiced. And its been history ever since.”
“Wow,” she said, “that was all it took?”
“Yeah,” I answered, “ why wouldn't it be? I mean my mom never liked it. I was destined to become Queen of the Vixens after her. In actuality, I still am. I know that she thinks that this is just a phase. Therefore this tour that we’re doing has to work. I have to prove that I've made the right decision.”
“I see…” Honey responded. I had to then ask,
“Well since we are opening doors about our lives, why are you in this?” Honey opened up and said,
“Well ever since my early years in daycare, I've always been able to see beyond this world. I always wanted to change it for the better, but no one saw my vision. They liked their minds being trapped in the box. However I managed to meditate and reach beyond the much higher powers of the universe. I finished what the greats have started. Then I slowly noticed that the world was changing the more I connected with the beyond. However, I couldn't take whats society was doing with music these days. It's pure whack rhymes at work. But Radio San Blue was where it was at. That's where music was real and pure. But when Crispy took over, I was heart broken. Then one day, I got a connection from Grandmaster Fearless himself. He told me to find Buzzy and guide him through this. However, the more he’s not aware of his leadership, the more proficient he is with it. I don’t know. I think name titles intimidate him. So my goal is to help him win.”
“Wow!” I said, “That is pretty weird, Honey Q. But your secret is safe with me from your powers, all the way down to your boo thing. HA!” Honey lightly punched me on the shoulder. As we were walking, it felt like we weren't getting any closer to finding that microphone when suddenly heard Buzzy on the radio,
“Honey, Foxy, come in y'all.” Honey responded back on the radio,
“What's up, Buzzy?”
“I got good news and bad news,” he said, “the good news is that we found the microphone.”
Honey and I cheered, but he then continued, “The bad news is that we found out who lives on this island. It's the Shadow Crew. And it's a whole lot of them.”
“Oh no!” I said, “So what's your twenty?”
“What?” Buzzy asked uncertain.
“Where are you!?” Honey shouted.
“Oh, we’re riding toward you ladies now.” he answered, “we see you right over the hill. Do me a favor, both of you put your hands up.”
“What? Why?” I asked.
“Just do it!” Terry shouted. We put our hands up and waited. It's been about thirty seconds and we were still wondering what was up besides our hands. Suddenly, Buzzy and Terry flew over us in an off road buggie launching over a hill we were under. It was a total surprise move. I didn't see that coming. Terry grabbed my hand while Buzzy grabbed Honeys. They pulled us in mid air and landed us in the back seats. We landed on the ground and were in a middle of a car chase with the shadow crew. And oh my stars, there were a lot of them. How did Buzzy time that so perfectly? That's amazing. As we were getting chased, we drove into the apocalyptic city. Buzzy sitting in the passenger side said,
“I got a plan!”
“And what's that?” I asked. He then shouted,
“I'm going to hop off and create a diversion. You guys drive back to the plane. I'll go through this dark building making my way to the roof. You guys pick me up from there!”
“How are you going to make it with all of those shadow guys?” asked Terry, “You'll be surrounded by the time you take five steps.”
“With these…” Buzzy said with a smirk. He opened the inside of his jacket and he revealed some flash grenades. When and where did he find those?
“I found them when I was stuck in that pit in Las Omega. It was in a pile of bones… It was gross.” Buzzy stated repulsed. He had us pull in front of the building. He hopped out of the buggie then tucked and rolled. The buggie didn’t even make a complete stop. He was crazy. He ran into the darkness as all of shadow creatures stampeded behind him. I thought we might have had some trouble but no. The shadows saw only Buzzy, and the mic. I guess they were killing two birds with one stone. We contacted Snax to swoop down and get us. He swooped down as we got out of the buggie and boarded the plane. We told Snax to meet Buzzy at the top of the building. We couldn't see him in the darkness but every time we saw a beam of light hit each ascending level, we knew it was him as tons of shadow men disintegrated in the of numerous explosions of bright light. Buzzy then made it to the top. Unfortunately, Tint was the only shadow left. We were about to lower the plane down for him to jump on, but Buzzy looked at us and said,
“Wait, guys! Don’t pick me up yet! I need to finish this guy off once and for all. AMPLIFY!” Buzzy powered up. A white glow steamed out of his body. Tint grinned at him with glowing eyes as he charged at him for the attack. He summoned his scythe in his hand and swiped it at him making Buzzy lean backward dodging the blade. He tripped him from under his legs leaving Tint in mid air. Buzzy twirled and kicked him with his shoes of attitude in the chest. The blow knocked Tint through a wall. As the wall was collapsing inward, before we knew it, Tint had already shot back out of the wall he came from at lightning speed. Buzzy threw some powerful exploding discs at him. Tint dodged to the reflected the third back to him. Buzzy dodged the reflected disc. The disc curved and struck into the ground like a jackhammer. He looked up and saw three ninja stars coming his way. He dodged all three. This gave Tint an opportunity to strike. But it wasn’t as opened as it seemed as Buzzy gave him an ax kick, which gave him a devastating blow to the top of his head. Tint was blasted down every level of the building. The hole was so deep that Buzzy couldn’t see anymore. Suddenly he felt the building shake.
“C’mon we have go, Buzzy!” I yelled, “The building is going down!” It was too unstable for Snax to land so he had to jump across.
“Just a sec.” Buzzy replied. He kneeled down. I assumed it was to tie his shoes. He stood up and raced to the end of the collapsing building. He leaped for Honeys hand.
“We got you!” she yelled. But then we all looked and saw Tint shoot up like a rocket from the whole in mid air with a bow and arrow.
“Oh no you don’t!” he yelled. We knew what was going to happen but none of us could stop it. It happened so fast, but we just couldn’t stop it… Tint aimed then shot the arrow. It shot right through his back and came out of his chest. It went through his heart. He started to fade in reach. Buzzy wasn’t going to make the jump.
“NO!” Honey yelled. She dove after him and caught him. I grabbed her foot, which made me slip off the plane. Terry grabbed my hand and held on to the side of the plane. He pulled us all in with one big tug. Tint looked sat
isfied with his shot, standing there nodding his head and licking his chops. I guess he figured that with no B-Quick, the mic would be useless. But then, he looked down at the back of his and noticed two flash grenades. He looked back at us and gave us a smirk.
“Well played bug…” he said. Then kaboom!! The grenades exploded. Then the building fell leaving nothing but rubble. There’s no way Tint could have survived that. We flew away.
We then landed not too far away from the danger. We didn’t know what to do at this point. We were all sad.
“Oh no Buzzy!” Honey sobbed, “How could you not see that coming?” Then it dawned on me.
“Actually he did.” I said, “Don’t you see? It was a trap. Buzzy knew he wouldn’t be able to destroy him head on, Tint was always on his guard. So he had to stun him for a moment to buy some time to drop the light grenades. That’s why he kneeled! He then had to draw him away from the trap that was set. He knew that Tint was going to be relentless at attacking him, not focusing on what was around him. He knew he was going to get shot. If it were any other time, he would’ve reflected the arrow. That was the window he needed for the setup to work.”
“That’s pretty genius if you think about it.” Terry commented.
“No its not!” Honey snapped, “Its not genius if you lose your life in the process! That was all around stupid.” She then hit him on his cold body. Then she hit him again. “Now what are we going to do?” They sat in silence for a moment. Suddenly the GPS screen came on. It was Buzzy on the screen.
“I hope this is on.” he said, “What up y’all? It’s B-Quick the Spinner Supreme. If you are seeing this video right now, I am pretty dead. But wait! Let’s not set up my funeral just yet, because I’m not dead all the way. Just follow these steps.” he then pulled out a folded up paper from his pocket then preceded to read, “First, check to see if my head is gone. If so, I’m not coming back from that. Go ahead and set up my funeral. If my head is still in tack then proceed to step two. Second, check to see if my heart is gone. If so, then proceed to step one and set my funeral. I have a special heart and there’s no donor for that. If it’s there but damaged, we may have a chance.” We all looked inside his chest. I was grossed out but we were happy no less. He then continued, “Take me and my heart to Dr. Soundz office. He’s a doctor and a sound systems mechanic. He gave me a heart surgery when I was a baby. He’ll take it from there. He’s located in the city of Rockville Georgette. Just follow it on the GPS its there now. This is DJ B-Quick, Spinner Supreme with this emergency broadcast. See you on the other side.”
“How does he do that?” asked Snax. Honey jumped on the passenger side.
“C’mon Snax! Fly this thing! We got to get there! Time is of the essence!!”
Moral: It not over until its over. Don’t give up.
Chapter Ten
Heart Attack
Snax
Oh man! This had been one heck of a documentary. No matter what, I just had to keep the camera rolling. However I really hoped that the doctor could fix his heart. It would be a crappy ending if he were unable to fix it. I landed the plane into Rockville, Georgette, I then changed the plane back into bus mode. We were almost there.
“You're one heck of a pilot, Snax.” Foxy said impressed.
“That means a lot coming from you my sweet.” I replied. I gazed into her rolling eyes and saw pure beauty. Her long hair, her beautiful eye, her pretty smile. Wow what a girl… When I'm old enough, she'll be mine. She just doesn’t know it yet.
“Hey you want to keep your eyes on the road?” Terry shouted. Oh snap! I almost hit another car. Honey threw me out of the drivers seat.
“Snax, you're playing. Move over!” She yelled, “lives are at stake here!” Honey floored it to the location.
As we were following the GPS, we managed to pull up to a small garage. It didn't look like a hospital, not one bit. The sign out front read, Custom Soundbites, best quality sound.
“Are we sure this is the place?” I asked.
“I don't know Snax,” Honey stated, “we're on the bus with you. Why don't you go to the front and ask for the doc.”
“I can't right now, I'm filming.” I replied.
“Boy, if you don't get…” She snapped.
“Ok! I'm going.” I hopped off the bus in a hurry. Buzzy would've never knocked my filming talent. I hooked my camera onto my shoulder. I walked into the opened garage and saw a gorilla installing a stereo into a trunk of a low rider vehicle.
“Excuse me sir.” I said to the busy guy.
“Who's that?” he asked.
“Uh… I'm Snax. I'm not sure if this is the right place but I'm looking for Dr. Soundz.” The gorilla rose up from the trunk and wiped his greasy tattooed hands with a rag. He looked like mechanic that was fresh out of jail. He looked like a mountain, better yet, more like a volcano. He looked short tempered and ready to tear me apart. I wished Buzzy were awake to handle this. Then he responded,
“Yeah that's me, what can I help you with?” I was slightly relieved.
“Finally! A big guy that's on our side. You have to help us! Buzzys heart is destroyed. You are the only one who can fix it.”
“Slow down kid.” he exclaimed, “Who's Buzzy?”
“He's a yellow bee, you gave him heart surgery as a toddler.” I stated.
“Oh yeah, Grandmaster Fearless boy!” It came back to him.
“Yeah you got it man.” I replied.
“How's he doing anyway? You say he has heart problems?”
“Well that's an understatement,” I replied, “ his heart is destroyed. He's pretty dead at the moment.”
“Dead?” The doc responded. He then got serious again, “Well don't just stand there! Bring him in!” I darted back to the bus and told the rest of the squad. We carried Buzzy in. As we were carrying him, Buzzys head was getting heavy. I accidentally dropped my end of him.
“Are you serious?” Foxy yelled.
“What the heck Snax!?” Terry snapped.
“Sorry!” I shouted back, “His head is big and slippery. I didn't have any grip.” We picked him up and placed him on the surgery table.
“Fix him doc!” Honey shouted tugging at his arm.
“Whose girl is this?” Dr. Soundz asked.
“That's Buzzys girl.” Foxy answered.
“What?” Everyone in the room said.
“Oh nothing.”Foxy covered it up, “Is there anything we can do to?”
“Yeah, stay the heck out of my way.” he said, “I need that machine on the shelf there.” I ran to find it. He had me pick up a weird contraption. It was a big screen with handles and buttons on one end, and tiny fingers and claws on the other.
“Hurry! Give it to me, son!” Dr. Soundz exclaimed. I darted back over to him and handed him the machine.
“What's that thing called anyway?” I asked.
“I call it the Guts Regulator.” Soundz answered as he placed it inside Buzzys chest. “It gives me the small hands I need to get inside Buzzys body.” Through the screen, it showed the tiny metal hands fixing the cords inside the heart. Small lasers fused wires together while it was stitching up the heart at the simultaneously.
“So how long have you been a Doctor?” I asked.
“Quiet boy, I'm working now.” he demanded.
“Ok, doc.” I shut my face quick. Suddenly an alarm went off.
“Uh oh, not good.” said the Doc.
“What?” I asked. The garage went into an emergency lock down. The garage doors slammed shut, the windows fenced and slammed shut as well. Then a huge force field covered entire garage like a dome. We all looked around trying to figure out what was going on.
“Hold on to this.” he said. The doc had me hold the Guts Regulator in place. He went to his computer screen and seen the HHP through the security cameras.
“Did you bring the HHP here?” The Doc was furious.
“Heck no, Doc.” I replied, “we lost
them in chapter three. However, I was unconscious halfway through so…. Terry what happened?”
“We lost them in the river and floated upstream to Vixen Island.” he answered, “I thought we lost them for good myself. But unfortunately…” he pointed outside. We then heard someone on a loud speaker,
“It took awhile for us to find you suckers,” it was Barsco in a heavy armored swat suit, “but it was easy once we caught the signal on your GPS. It's over, you critters. Come out with your hands up!” The doc decided to speak back on his intercom,
“Sorry, son. I'm in the middle of surgery. Whatever beef you have with these kids, it’ll have to wait.”
“Dad? Is that you?” Barsco asked, “How did you get out of jail? You know you're a criminal. I’m getting real tired of locking you up for these experiments, Pop.”
“Son, no cell can hold me. Get used to it.” Soundz said as he turned off the speaker. All we heard from the outside was,
“Get the drill! We have to get through this force field. And be careful. Everyone in there is armed and dangerous!” I had so many questions at this point. I'm pretty sure we all were filled with them.
“What the heck is that bro?” I asked, “Are you a fugitive?”
“Is Barsco really your son?” asked Foxy.
“Look!” the doc stated, “The more we procrastinate, and the sooner we lose the DJ for good. Do you bozos want him back or not?”
“YEAH!” we all answered frantically.
“Ok well listen up! Snax, hand me the regulator and watch the cameras. Tiger boy, Fox girl, and lady bee, all of you take a laser gun and find a window. Once they break through the force field, it’ll be on you guys to buy me enough time to save your friend.”
“Got it!” said Honey. We all went to our spots. I spoke to my camera. I couldn’t help but express how intense this was. Honey looked through the scope. The way she held the ray gun, it was like she was in the military. She definitely held one before.
