Loved by a Werewolf Page 6

Sierra swallowed audibly before she leaned in and gave him a soft kiss. “Keep talking like that and you’ll turn me into a sap.”

Cale kissed her, then opened his car door. He got out and came around the vehicle to walk beside his mate as she headed for the building. They went inside and took a small flight of stairs to the next level. Sierra unlocked the door there and held it open for him to go in ahead of her.

Her apartment was indeed small, but it wasn’t dumpy as she described it. She kept it clean and ordered. The walls were white and there was a brightly colored throw rug in the center of the living room. The single couch sat along one wall, facing the TV that was against the opposite one. Cale took a deep breath. The apartment smelled like his mate.

Sierra closed the door behind her. “It’s not much, but I call it home.”

“It’s a nice little place.” He waggled his brows at her. “Why don’t you show me your bedroom?”

“You’re bad,” she said with a laugh. “But I guess I am as well, since I was about ready to suggest that very thing.”

Forever hungry for her, Cale closed the distance between them and scooped her up in his arms. He took her lips in a heated kiss as he walked to the short hallway where he assumed the bathroom and Sierra’s bedroom were located.

“The one on the right,” she mumbled against his mouth.

Not breaking stride, he turned to the correct doorway and crossed the threshold. Cale had just put her down on her feet to strip her clothes off when there was a loud pounding on the apartment door.

Sierra pulled back with a scowl. “Shit. I know that knock. It’s Trevor,” she said quietly.

“Just ignore him and maybe he’ll go away,” he replied in the same tone.

“Come on, Sierra,” Trevor shouted loudly through the door. “I know you’re in there. I saw your car out in the parking lot. Open up.”

Sierra blew out a breath. “That’s not going to happen. He won’t go away until I do answer the door. You stay here and I’ll try to get rid of him.”

Before he could reply, she stepped out of his arms and walked out of the bedroom. Able to hear everything in the other room as if he were there, Cale listened to Sierra open the apartment door.

“What do you want, Trevor?” she asked in an exasperated tone.

Her brother’s voice came from somewhere inside the living room. “I’m a little short this week and I wondered if you could front me some cash until I get paid.”

“Shouldn’t you be at work right now?”

  “I called in sick.”

“Which you aren’t. You have to stop doing that, or you’re going to lose your job.”

“Would you stop with the lecture? Are you going to lend me the money or not?”

There was a small stretch of silence before Sierra answered Trevor. “Actually, no, I’m not.”

“Why?” Trevor almost whined. “I said you’d get it back.”

“That’s what you promised me the last time. I still have yet to see a looney of it. So my answer remains no.”

“Don’t be such a bitch, Sierra.”

Hearing her brother disrespect her was enough to have Cale walking into the living room and going to Sierra’s side. “I’d watch your mouth if I were you,” he told the other man. “Since your sister isn’t going to lend you any money, I think it’s time for you to go.”

“Butt out of it, asshole,” Trevor said as he glared at Cale. “I thought you would have been gone by now.”

“Sorry to say, you’ll be seeing a lot more of me, at least until Sierra and I go to Toronto.”

Trevor’s gaze jerked to Sierra. “You can’t be serious about this guy. He’s a fucking jerk. Look how he treated me at the wedding. He thinks he’s hot shit when he isn’t.”

Sierra sighed. “Trevor, who I see is none of your business. Now go already. I’m not going to give you any money.”

Trevor looked from Sierra to Cale. “I know what this is all about. This asshole has turned you against me. He’s filled your head full of shit.”

Sierra’s brother tried to get up in his face, but she came between them and placed a hand on Trevor’s chest. “Back off. Cale has nothing to do with my decision. It’s something that has been a long time coming.”

“Yeah, right. Get out of my way, Sierra.” Trevor roughly shoved her, hard enough to cause her to almost stumble.

Something inside Cale snapped. Sierra was his mate, his to protect and cherish. He wouldn’t allow anyone to treat her in such a way. He fisted the front of Trevor’s shirt and slammed him against the wall. He then lifted the other man off his feet one-handed. It betrayed that he wasn’t mortal, but Cale was beyond caring. He knew his eyes had to be mutedly glowing with anger as he glared at Trevor. He growled, letting his wolf rise to the surface, curling his upper lip before he snapped his teeth at Sierra’s brother.

“You ever touch my mate like that again I’ll break every bone in your hand. Got it?”

Trevor let out a small whimper. “What the hell are you?”

Cale opened his fist and let the other man drop. “Get out of here before I show you.”

Trevor righted himself, and without another word, shot out of the apartment. Cale did nothing to hide his eyes as he turned toward Sierra. She’d seen and heard everything her brother had.

She ran her wide-eyed gaze over his face. “Not to sound like Trevor, but what the hell are you? Your eyes are glowing.”

Cale knew no other way than to be straight and to the point. “I’m a nine-hundred-year-old werewolf and I’ve claimed you as my mate.”

  “A what?”

“A werewolf.” Drawing on the spark of magic deep inside him, Cale shifted into his wolf form.

Sierra shrieked and scrambled away. “That’s the wolf I saw on the hiking trail. That was you?” She let out another shriek as he took on his human form once more. He took a step toward her, but she ran to the end of the couch to put it between them. “Don’t come any closer,” she said fearfully.

“Calm down, Sierra. Knowing what I am doesn’t change me. I’m still the same man. You have to let me expl—”

  “Get out,” she yelled.

“Let me explain. And I can’t leave. You are my mate. We have to stay together or we’ll suffer.”

“Get out, get out, get out,” she shouted over him, obviously not hearing a word he said.

As her shouts verged on the side of being hysterical, Cale worried one of Sierra’s neighbors would hear her and call the cops. Getting her to listen to him looked to be out of the question. She was too upset, too scared, to think straight at the moment. Even though he hadn’t wanted it to happen, he knew leaving was all he could do.

He held up his hands in surrender. “I’m going,” he said. “But I will be back.”

Sierra just jerkily shook her head in denial. With a long, drawn-out sigh, Cale turned on his heel and walked out of the apartment. As he clomped down the stairs to reach the outside, he steeled himself for what was to come. He was going to leave and put as much distance between him and Sierra as was needed to set off the separation anxiety. In a couple of hours, she’d be in no condition to turn him away.

  * * * * *

Sierra was losing her mind, and she didn’t know how much more she could stand. Cale had been gone for almost an hour, and it was the longest one of her life. She couldn’t stop thinking about him, the need to be with him making her feel like climbing the walls. She should still be afraid of him—he was a freaking werewolf, for chrissake—but she couldn’t get past the feeling that something bad had happened to him. That he needed her. And god how she missed him. She felt on the verge of tears.

She paced back and forth in her living room. Seeing Cale shift into a wolf had had her heart trying to beat out of her chest. All the feelings she had for him seemed to disappear as her fear took over. But now they had returned full force, if not stronger than before. She loved him, needed him, found it agonizing that he wasn’t with her.
r />   She wanted him to come back, but she had no idea where he was. She’d tried calling his hotel, but he wasn’t in his room. And with no cell phone number to contact him, Sierra had just about lost it then.

This had to end. That’s all she knew. If it didn’t, it would drive her crazy. Right now she didn’t give a crap that Cale was a werewolf. This longing for him was too much to bear.

Sierra spun around and came to a standstill at the sound of the doorknob on her apartment door being turned, the tumblers breaking inside. It slammed open and there was Cale. Everything she’d felt disappeared the instant she laid eyes on him, only to be replaced with the most intense arousal she’d ever experienced.

He kicked the door shut behind him, then stalked toward her. “I couldn’t stay away any longer. I can’t be without you, Sierra. Don’t make me go through this again.”

Once he reached her, she threw herself into his arms, their mouths meeting hungrily. Being held by him made her feel whole, as if her world had finally righted itself. They tore at each other’s clothes as Cale growled like a wolf and she whimpered with need.

With her pussy already wet for him, he lifted her off her feet, then sheathed his cock inside her with one thrust. Sierra locked her ankles at his waist and held on as he pounded into her. Within seconds her climax swept over her. She cried out in ecstasy as her body milked Cale’s. Two more thrusts and he came, his cock filling her with his cum.

Breathing hard, he walked to the couch and sat, still sheathed inside her, still hard. He pushed back her hair and cupped her face. “I’m sorry I had to put you through the separation anxiety, but I didn’t know any other way to get through to you.”

“If you do that again I’ll string you up by your balls. Got it?”

He chuckled. “I promise I won’t.” Cale’s expression grew serious. “Are you okay now? About me being a werewolf?”

“Well, there’s a lot I don’t understand, but obviously being without you isn’t an option. Is it really because we’re mates?”

He nodded. “The first time we made love our souls joined.” He kissed her. “I promise I’ll do everything in my power to keep you happy, Sierra. I love you, and have waited a long time for you to come into my life. I don’t ever want to lose you.”

She bit her bottom lip. “I love you too. I didn’t realize it until you put me through hell.” Sierra squeezed her pussy around Cale’s still-hard cock. “Enough talking. Right now I think you have to make it up to me for scaring the crap out of me, then making me feel as if I were losing my mind.”

Cale surged to his feet with her in his arms. “To do a proper job of it, I’ll need the bed.”

Sierra bent her head and bit him where his shoulder and neck met. After letting loose a very wolflike howl, Cale made it up to her over and over again until neither one of them could move.
