She shook her head. “No, it can’t.” She then looked at my hands. “Where are your flowers?”
“They’re on the kitchen diner. I’ll grab them on our way down.” I looked at the time. We had one minute, and Hunter was still nowhere to be seen.
She nodded. “Okay. I can’t wait anymore. Let’s get moving now. It will probably take me over a minute to walk down these steps anyway. Can you run ahead and let me know if everyone is ready?”
I nodded my head, ran downstairs, and briefly looked outside. The gate was still open, but there was no sign of Hunter. He had better get his arse back soon.
Knowing I couldn’t wait any longer, I ran outside to find everyone still in position. I saw Mason standing in his place and when he saw me, he gave his thumbs up in question. I returned the thumbs up and went running back to my mum. Hunter was still outside, and my heart was hammering for him. Pretty soon, Mason would notice that his son wasn’t there. Thank God he chose his best mate, Stan, to be his best man. Yes, there were a number of jokes made on that one.
After telling my mum all was okay, she led the way out into the garden. I picked my flowers up and followed behind her. Of course, I was her bridesmaid, but I wasn’t exactly ecstatic about it.
The music started just as my mum stepped out. Mason’s posture picked up, and he smiled brightly as she walked down the aisle. When she was next to him, I stood to the side and just as everyone was asked to sit down, Hunter ran in. Mason noticed, gave him an unamused look, and Hunter mouthed sorry. He then looked at me, and I thought he could see the questions in my eyes. Hunter just nodded.

The ceremony went as well as could be expected, and the reception was in full swing after the best man’s speech. The cutting of the cake was taking place in an hour, which gave people plenty of time to fill their faces full of food, dance, and drink.
As I stood by the bar at the pool, I sipped my champagne and watched as Hunter strolled towards me. We hadn’t had any time to chat since his mother arrived, so I was naturally anxious to talk to him.
“Was everything okay?”
Hunter grabbed a glass of scotch and stood next to me. “She wanted money, and I couldn’t get rid of her. She obviously chose this day of all days to show up on purpose.”
I sighed. “I’m sorry, Hunter. What did you do?”
He ran a hand over his face. “She wouldn’t go no matter how much I tried. I just wanted to get back to the wedding. In the end, I wrote her a cheque for ten grand. She seemed happy enough to go after that.”
I sagged my shoulders. “Oh, Hunter.”
He shook his head. “I didn’t know what else to do.” He looked defensive.
“I’m not blaming you. You acted in the best interest of your father at the time. No one will judge you for it. I just hope she is using the money to better herself like she said she would.”
Hunter gave me a light smile. “Me, too.” He looked at me briefly before speaking again. “Anyway, enough about my mum. What did you think of the wedding?”
I shrugged again with a smile. “I think it went as well as it could.”
We both looked over at my mum and Mason. They were laughing and my mum placed her head on his shoulder for a moment.
“They look happy,” Hunter observed.
I nodded. “Yes, they do.”
“Are you happy, AJ?”
His question stunned me somewhat. I was too busy looking at the married couple when he asked, so I turned to him. “Why do you ask?”
Hunter smiled. “That’s not answering the question.”
I sighed and thought for a moment. “If you’re referring to the here and now, then, yes, I guess I am happy.”
Hunter nodded with a smug smile. “Good. Me, too.” He then pointed to where everyone was dancing. “Would you like to dance with me?”
I raised my eyebrow at him. “There’s no Usher this time.” It was actually the start of Chris de Burghs’ “Lady In Red.”
“I know, but I would like to dance with you. Would you dance with me, AJ?”
I placed my drink on the bar and smiled back at him. “Well, when you ask me so politely, how could I refuse?”
He offered me his hand, so I accepted with a smile. Hunter held me in place, and we began to sway to the music. Pretty soon, Hunter had his mouth to my ear. “I think Chris has this covered for me tonight. You look beautiful.”
I closed my eyes for a moment, trying not to get myself lost in him. It was pretty hard not to when he spoke to me like that. In public we had to pretend that we were just stepbrother and stepsister having a dance at their parent’s wedding. Nothing more, nothing less.
“Thank you,” I whispered back, breathlessly.
“Do you know how hard it is for me not to kiss you right now? I can’t stop thinking about last night.”
I sighed with a smile. “Me neither.”
“Have you thought anymore about the holiday in Spain?”
I must admit with everything that had happened since, I never gave it a second thought. “No, but I do think you should go. You know... just the boys. I would only be spoiling it for all of you.”
Hunter pulled away and looked at me with a smile. “You could never spoil anything, AJ. Besides, I want you there. I enjoy your company.”
I couldn’t help the silly smile. “I enjoy yours, too.” I bit my lip, and Hunter looked straight at my lips.
“Then, what do you say? Come away with me to Spain. My father would have a fit with me anyway if I left you on your own. That’s not the reason why I asked you to come, though; I want you there with me.”
I nodded, giving in. I would have said yes anyway. I really didn’t like the thought of being away from Hunter. That thought should have scared me to death, but right then, I didn’t care. “Okay, Hunter. I would love to go with you to Spain.”
Hunter quickly spun me around making me giggle. “Thank you, AJ. You won’t regret it.”
The song quickly ended, and another quickly started. This time it was “Careless Whisper” by Wham.
“Can I cut in? I would like a dance with my stepdaughter before I leave.” Mason smiled at Hunter, and Hunter offered him my hand.
“Sure thing, Dad.” Hunter smiled at me as Mason placed a hand on my waist. Pretty soon, Hunter was heading to the bar for a drink.
“You better watch he doesn’t get up to no good while we’re away in the Caribbean.” He smiled cheekily at me.
“I’m sure I can rein him in. He’s also just convinced me to go to Spain for a week.”
Mason nodded his acceptance. “Good. I don’t like the thought of you being here alone with that Robert about.”
“I would have probably stayed with a friend though, so I’m sure I would have been fine.”
Mason smiled. “Yes, but better a week in Spain, don’t you think?”
I laughed, and he chuckled with me. “Yeah, I suppose you’re right.”
“We’ll be cutting the cake soon and then we have to be off to our hotel. We have an early start to catch the plane tomorrow morning.”
I nodded. “Yes, of course. The wedding was lovely, by the way. If I ever get married, I hope to have a wedding like this.”
Mason stared into my eyes for a moment. “I’m sure you’ll have that one day, Ayden. At the moment, you are young. Live life and enjoy the moments while you can because, before you know it, you may have let opportunities pass you by.”
I chuckled a little. “You are full of sentiments today, aren’t you, Mason?”
Mason laughed. “I guess getting married does that to you.”
I looked over at Mum who was chatting to a friend of hers. “I really hope you’re both happy, Mason. I mean that.”
Mason briefly looked over to my mum and smiled. “Me, too.”
The song soon ended, and Mason went back to be with my mother. About half an hour after that, the cake cutting commenced with lots of photographs being taken. There were a few taken of me and Hunter,
which I was looking forward to seeing when they were ready. He looked pretty amazing in a tux.
About an hour after that, Mason and my mother were on their way to the hotel. I gave them both a brief hug and told them to enjoy their honeymoon. I wasn’t sure what on earth had gotten into my mum. Maybe marrying Mason was truly changing her. One could only hope.
As the partygoers dwindled, Hunter and I commenced our staring contest. He was at the bar drinking, and I was standing by the patio doors, glass of champagne in hand. Across the dancers, we would stare—a look that was full of promise. I was an idiot. I knew what Hunter was planning after everyone went, but instead of fighting it, I was welcoming it with open arms. I wanted him to fuck me. Just the sore tingles between my legs from last night were fuelling that fire. I had a taste of Hunter, and now I wanted more.
As Hunter and I started tidying up, and the caterers finally left, more people started leaving in droves. We continued to look at each other now and then. It was almost as if we couldn’t help ourselves.
As the last guest left and the security gate shut, Hunter shut the front door and pushed me up against it, catching my mouth in a kiss. “I didn’t know if they would ever fucking leave.” Hunter pulled up my dress with one hand and squeezed my thigh.
I moaned out loud, “Hunter.”
“Fuck, I love it when you say my name. Say it again.”
I closed my eyes as his hand started to wander. “Hunter.”
When he got to my pussy, he groaned. “No knickers again. Fuck. I need to be inside you now, AJ. I can’t wait any longer. I’ve waited too fucking long to be inside you again.”
Hunter pulled at his bow tie letting it fall around his neck. He then put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a condom. While he was ripping the packaging, I quickly went to work undoing his trousers. When they slid down, his cock sprung free. I cocked my eyebrow. “Seems I’m not the only one going commando again, eh?”
Hunter smiled mischievously. “Like you, I want to be ready for anything.”
“Well, it wouldn’t be a good idea to get run over by a bus,” I joked.
Hunter smiled as he placed the condom on. “Baby, the only thing I want ‘run over’ is my tongue over your clit. This is going to be hard and fast. Are you ready for me?”
I chuckled a little. “Oh, I am so fucking ready, Hunter. See for yourself.”
As instructed, Hunter placed his fingers at the entrance of my pussy. “So fucking wet. Do you realise how much that turns me on?” He pulled his fingers away and licked my juices off his fingers. Man did that get me even wetter. “Fucking delicious,” he growled, as he claimed my mouth again.
Within a millisecond, Hunter had me propped up against the door and was pressing his cock at my entrance. He stared at me a moment, our breaths coming fast, and without another word, Hunter entered me.
Hunter cursed under his breath. “Are you okay, sweetheart? Fuck, you’re so tight.”
I nodded. “I’m fine. Keep going.”
Hunter didn’t need any encouragement. He pounded me up against the front door so violently that it started to shake.
“I can’t get enough of your pussy, AJ. Fuck. You feel so good.”
I moaned out loud—letting the feeling of him inside me take over. “Oh God, Hunter. That’s it, right there. Harder.” I wasn’t sure where he got his strength from; he was like a man possessed. All I could do was let Hunter take over completely, and it felt absolutely amazing.
From this angle, his thrusts were more penetrative and every time he hit a certain spot, I could feel tingles spreading through my body. The tingles that announced an orgasm at any moment.
“Hunter... I’m going to... ”
“Let go, sweetheart. I’ve got you.”
With his words ringing in my ears, my orgasm came quickly. It wracked my body causing me to violently tremble. “Oh God, Hunter!” I screamed as it just kept coming and coming.
“Fuck, AJ, I’m not going to last much longer myself. You feel too fucking good. I can feel you coming on my cock,” he growled out, thrust himself in me a couple more times and then came inside me shouting my name. “Shit, AJ.”
He came in to kiss me one more time before resting his head on my shoulder. I could feel his hot breaths at the base of my neck as he took his time trying to calm down.
Eventually, he pulled out of me and set me down before taking the condom off and disposing of it in the bin.
Once he pulled his trousers up, he turned to me. “Sleep with me in my bed tonight. Please.”
With his hair all tousled, his eyes all sparkly, and the tux that fit him like a god, how could I possibly say no?
Chapter Twenty-Three
Almost two weeks had gone by and what a two weeks they had been. Despite our resolution to keep our distance, Hunter and I had been doing anything but. We practically lived at home twenty-four-seven—only occasionally leaving to see friends, go get food, and buy more condoms. Hunter was insatiable. When we were alone, he would be constantly touching me. It wasn’t necessarily in a sexual way; it was sometimes more affectionate than that. He would play with my hair absentmindedly as we lay together by the pool reading, or run his fingers up and down my arm as we sat and ate breakfast together in the morning. We were becoming quite the domestic couple, which both frightened and excited me all at the same time.
My birthday came and went, and I was glad that Hunter never pushed it on me. Instead, he suggested we visit my father’s grave together. It was something I always did on my own, but it was nice to have the offer of company. At first, I was a little sceptical, but then the thought of him holding my hand while we were there made me say yes. I was so glad I did, as Hunter was amazing. He gave me space when I needed it and offered me his shoulder when I cried. Despite it being thirteen years later, it was still as fresh and sore as the very first day. Being with Hunter just made it more bearable.
By this time, I was acutely aware that the magic we had would be lost in just over a week’s time. I had no time to dwell on that too much because our holiday to Spain had been booked. I had been packing all morning, and Hunter arranged everything, so it was just a matter of bringing myself, my passport, and some clothes. Hunter told everyone that we would meet them at the hotel, so Hunter and I could be by ourselves on the plane. He had this twinkle in his eye, which I knew meant trouble.
I found out why the minute I got up to use the toilets midway. We were right at the back of first class with the toilets directly behind us. With our position so conveniently located, it was easy for Hunter to follow me in.
“Hunter, what are you doing?”
Hunter shut the door behind him, got a condom out of his pocket and smiled. “What do you think I’m doing? I’ve always wanted to join the mile high club.”
I gasped. “Hunter, we’ll get into trouble.”
He unzipped his trousers, pulling out his cock. “Do you really want to say no to this?”
He was hard and looked fucking gorgeous. Despite my misgivings, I just gave in.
“Are you wearing any knickers?” I shook my head and Hunter smiled. “Turn around for me, baby.”
I did as I was told and felt cool air hit me as Hunter pushed up my dress. “From now on, when I’m around, I want you in dresses and no knickers. Got it?”
I hummed my approval because, by now, the adrenaline was kicking in. When I didn’t answer, Hunter smacked my arse. “Got it?”
“Oh, God... yes!”
Hunter laughed. “You’re a kinky little thing, aren’t you?”
I moaned, “Hunter, just shut up and fuck me.”
He didn’t disappoint.

Once we were done, we carefully looked outside. As soon as we both thought the coast was clear, we walked out. Just as we did, one of the stewards caught us. My face flamed as he stared at us. At first he didn’t look amused, but when he saw no one was there, he just smiled.
“Enjoy the rest of your flight.”
I exhaled a breath. “Thank you.”
Hunter and I ventured back to our seats giggling like idiots. I was already enjoying myself, and we hadn’t even gotten there yet. With Hunter, everything just seemed so easy. I felt more relaxed and comfortable with him than anyone I had come into contact with. Not even Mandy could come close as far as that was concerned. Apart from the sex, Hunter was quickly becoming the closest friend I had ever had.
Once we landed in Fuerteventura, we waited for our bags and quickly hailed a cab to take us to the hotel. The hotel itself was five star, so I knew it was going to be quite lavish.
“Who’s going to be there, Hunter?”
Hunter had hold of my hand at the back of the taxi and was looking out the window at the sights. Once I spoke, he looked at me. “There are five guys and two girls. One of them is a girlfriend and the other a sister. Jeffrey’s sister, Lindsay, has a crush on my mate, Darren, so that should be interesting.” He winked at me and smiled.
“I hope they all don’t hate me for tagging along.”
Hunter’s eyes widened. “Fuck no! In fact, David was pleased when I told him because he really wanted to bring his girlfriend, Carly, along. They’re kind of really into each other at the moment.” He shrugged his shoulders and looked at me shyly. The whole time we stared, all I could think about was how really into Hunter I was. These feelings I had—whatever they were—were growing inside of me with each passing day.
I wasn’t sure what would happen once we got to the hotel, but I knew all intimacy between us would cease. I assumed Hunter had booked two rooms, and, despite the fact that I would miss having him with me all the time, I knew it would be for the best. So, I was surprised when we got there to find that Hunter had booked the best room in the hotel—and not only that—I was meant to be staying with him.
“Hunter, what will the others say?”
He shrugged. “Let them say what they fucking like. Besides, it has two bedrooms. One of which will not be used. Got it?” I gave him a cheeky smile and nodded. “Unless, of course, you want to fuck in it.”
