“Time for bed, bud.” Jared only gives me a mild fit tonight, for which I’m thankful.
I’m proud of Tex, but I miss him too. Sleeping in my bed alone isn’t my preference.
Once Jared is tucked in and fast asleep, I clean up our popcorn bowls in the living room. I check my phone once more, hoping to hear from Tex before I turn in for the night. I’ll never understand the hours some actors work.
“Nothing, huh?” I try not to let disappointment set in as I type out a text to him: I love you.
“I love you, too.”
I let out a tiny scream at the sound of his voice so near. “Tex! What are you doing here? And why are you sneaking in? You scared me half to death!” I should stay mad, especially because I just got Jared to sleep. But I’m too happy to see him to stay upset.
“We wrapped up filming early.” He gathers me in his arms and kisses me hard on the mouth. The week apart has felt like a year, and all that missing each other is wrapped up in this very heated kiss.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming home?”
“And spoil the surprise?” Tex kisses my neck as his hands slide to my ass. He yanks my hips against his. I feel his erection through his jeans. “Why don’t you and I go roll around in our bed?”
“Naked?” I ask with a devious smile. It’s been almost four years, and I still want my husband as bad as the day I first had him.
“Is there any other way?”
