His Christmas Curves

“Baby? I love you,” he says. He pulls a red velvet box from his pocket and opens it.
I glance down at the diamond ring sitting in the center of the box and tears spring from my eyes.
David inhales sharply then clears his throat. “Baby, don’t cry. I love you and I want to make you happy. Will you marry me?”
“Yes, I’ll marry you. I love you so much, David.” He takes the ring from the box and puts it on my finger. Only then I realize how huge the diamond is.
“You’re mine now,” he says with satisfaction.
“It’s a rather big diamond, David, isn’t it? It’s beautiful,” I quickly add. “But huge.”
He laughs, then tips my head back and kisses me, his lips softly pressed to mine. I melt in his arms, and I want more so I deepen the kiss.
“Julia?” He pulls away and I’m left longing for more. David reaches over and touches my cheek, and our eyes meet. “You’re a little frustrated, aren’t you, baby? Do you want more?” His finger crooks beneath my chin and forces me to look at him. “Answer me, baby. Do you want me to take you?”
I close my eyes, ashamed to voice my answer. “Yes, always,” I whisper.
He kisses my forehead. “Don’t worry baby, I’ll take care of you when we reach the ski cottage. Although it will be a little while since I invited our families for a Christmas party. We can tell them our news if you wish.”
“You still haven’t answered my question,” I pout.
He laughs again, softly. “Yes, it’s a big ring. You’re a beautiful woman, Julia, and I want everyone to know that you are very engaged, and you are very mine.”
I laugh. “How caveman of you. But I think you’ll need to buy a bigger ring. My belly is gonna be huge in a few months. I’m very pregnant.”
He stares at me, clearly in shock.
“Are you going to stare at me all night?” I ask him.
“I might. That is great news, baby, I’m so happy. You have made me the happiest man alive. This is the best Christmas present ever.”
I wrap my arms around his neck and bury my face against his chest. “I love you so much, you are going to be a wonderful father.”
“You are going to be a great mother. The best.”
We remain quietly embraced until the helicopter arrives home, where we can share our joy with our extended family.
