“What are you going to do? Hold the cup under me while I try and aim?”
“If that’s what I’ve gotta do.”
“I wasn’t aware you are a fan of golden showers.”
“That’s cause I’m not.” He scrunches up his face with a disgusted look.
“Then back off, I’ll call you if I need you. Okay?”
“Fine, woman. Go get this done and over with so I can get your ass back in bed.”
“Yes, sir.” I salute him, earning myself a look that promises retribution for my attitude.
I pee in the cup and accidentally get some on my hand because they were shaking while trying to hold it still. I hurriedly rush over to the sink and wash my hands. As I go to leave the bathroom dizziness takes hold and I have to bite my pride and call out for Justice.
“See, told ya.”
“Just leave the cup in the bathroom,” Doc hollers out. “I’ll run my test in there,” he informs us. Once I’m tucked back in he disappears behind the closed door.
“What kind of test does he need to do with your pee?”
“There’s all kinds of tests they can run with your urine,” I inform my man. Although I know there’s one he’s most likely in there running now. And if my suspicions are correct, we’ll go from a family of two to a family of three sometime later this year.
Justice
My eyes snap open when the most offending smell is placed under my nose. “The fuck is that?” I angrily ask looking up at doc. “And what the fuck am I doing on the floor?” I look up at my woman where she’s sitting on the bed. Her face is full of mirth and I can see how hard she’s holding down laughter. “What?”
“That never gets old,” Doc tells her.
“What?” I say louder, getting more agitated by the minute.
“For a badass biker, you sure did pass out as soon as doc said the word pregnant,” she bursts out in laughter. She’s enjoying my humiliation a little too much for my liking.
“Shut it, woman.”
“Make me,” she states, sticking her tongue out at me.
“I see someone’s feeling better,” I say, looking her body over as much as I can physically see of her.
“Doc gave me something for the nausea while you were taking your short nap.”
“I don’t nap,” I inform her.
“If you say so,” she cockily exclaims. A little too cocky if you ask me. Then it slaps me in the face what she said.
“Wait a fuckin’ minute, did you just announce that you’re pregnant?”
“Yes,” she whispers, losing her smile. I get up from the floor and walk over to her. I go down on my knees and place my hand on her stomach.
“You’re having my baby?”
“Ours, I’m having our baby.” Tears are running down her face. Is she scared of how I’ll react?
“A baby!” I stand up whooping before I go back down on my knees. I bend over and move her hands where they are protectively placed over our growing child. I kiss it and then tell my baby, our baby how excited I am for him or her to be born. “You’ve given me everything I never knew I wanted, Lizzie. Thank you for helping me live again.”
“We have learned to live again together. Thank you for all of the gifts and blessings you’ve given me.” We end up kissing and hear the door lightly shut behind us.
This is the beginning of our forever.
Once she falls back asleep, I begin my research on what all she can and can’t do while she’s pregnant. I learn what she can and can’t eat, what she can and can’t do physically…which shockingly isn’t much. But my target research is sex, mainly can we without harming our baby. Thank God we can, because I’m not sure I can go that long without feeling her skin against mine.
As I’m lost in research my phone rings. I pick it up and look at the caller ID and see that it’s Malibu.
“What’s up, brother?”
“Remember when you offered to be there if I needed someone to talk to?”
“Of course, brother.” My ears are picking up panic in his voice.
“I could really use that now. I’m so lost brother, I need help…”
Lizzie
When I feel the bed dip, I open my eyes and grasp the fact that I’ve slept the entire day away—once again. “Everything okay?” I ask him.
“I hope so, Lizzie. I really do.”
“Wanna talk about it?” Instead of answering me, he begins talking. He’s worried about his friend, his brother. He tells me all about Malibu, Fern, and Kassi’s relationship. Where it all began, and where it went terribly wrong with Fern’s death. Malibu has just learned about how and why she truly died, and it has his head all fucked up and it’s affecting his relationship with Kassi.
I can tell he loves her, anyone could with the way he used to talk about her and light up when someone mentioned her name. I am on the same page as Justice and am worried not only for his brother, but for my friend. She deserves the world and more, because she was a victim and also never felt loved or wanted by her father. It’s how we bonded and became as close as we are.
“Do you think they’ll get past this?” I can’t help but ask.
“I don’t know. I really don’t and that’s what worries me the most. They love each other, I would hate for them to lose sight of that fact.”
“Me too.”
“Now that you’re awake, feel like celebrating?”
Grateful for the change of topic I emphatically nod my head. “Absolutely.”
And we celebrate for the next two days. In the bedroom, in the shower, on the kitchen counters, on the washing machine and on the couch. My man is very enthusiastic with sharing his happiness and I’m more than accommodating in reciprocating his pleasure.
Life is so good.
Epilogue
Malibu
For years I’ve been trying to solve the mystery of why Fern was murdered. I’ve searched high and low, spending nearly all of my life savings in an attempt to get some answers. I’ve hit brick wall after brick wall. No one was willing to talk to me or share what they do know.
The anonymous phone call I received earlier, floored me.
I don’t understand what I learned. This wasn’t the Fern I knew and loved. She told me all of her secrets, or so I thought. Did Kassi know any of this? Red hot rage takes over as I think about how she could be betraying me as much as Fern did. I’m sitting on the couch next to Kassi and can’t help but look over my shoulder, wondering how much she’s been keeping from me.
I love Kassi, don’t get me wrong. But Fern, she was the love of my life. The one I lost and have never been able to get out of my heart. I’m not sure I’ll ever get over her loss. My future was set, Kassi, Fern, and I were supposed to live happily ever after. But that was stolen from me, ripped from my arms before I knew I needed to protect it.
I can’t be here, I can’t look at her without wondering how deep the betrayal goes. I can’t come right out and ask her about it without having a leg to stand on first.
And if she doesn’t know, and I blast her with this information, it’s liable to break her further than she was when she survived the attack. But she was there! She had to have heard the fight that I’m sure took place. How could she hide this from me?
“I’ve gotta go,” I say, getting up off the couch and rushing out the door without even telling her goodbye. I need to talk to someone, someone who’s not so closely involved. Someone who can look in from the outside and give me sound advice.
Kassi
When Malibu rushes out the door, my jaw hits the ground. He’s never looked at me the way he just did. Fear crawls up my spine, and shivers wrack my body. Why is it I suddenly have a bad feeling that somehow, for some unknown reason to me, I’ve just lost him?
I’ve always struggled with wanting to know if he in actuality does love me, or if he settled for me after losing our third, my best friend…our Fern. Have I just been someone to warm his bed, fill a void that she left behind?
The wondering and worrying has taken its toll on me throughout the years. But I miss her so much, and love him to the depths of my soul that I was willing to overlook it to find some sort of happiness. Have I been fooling us both?
As always, with our twin ESP, my phone rings and I see it’s Kaci. I glumly answer the phone.
“Hello?”
“What is it? What happened?” she frantically asks with my nephew wailing in the background.
“I don’t know,” I whisper, then burst out into uncontrollable sobs. “I need you.”
“I’ll be right there. Five minutes, sissy. Just five, stay strong until I get there.”
“I’ll try…”
The End
For now, until Malibu and Kassi share their story with us all in Forever Yours.
