“It’s an emerald ring. It was my grandmother’s.”
Brianna couldn’t speak through the lump in her throat. Her heart beat was surely visible. She stared open mouthed as John fished the ring from the bottom of the flute.
“I heard from a very reliable source that you love me.” John dried the ring with a napkin.
Brianna gave a slight nod, her hand covering her mouth as tears filled her eyes.
“I know I love you and I know I don’t want to live without you. I know it here.” He touched his forehead. “And, I know it here.” He spread his hand over his heart.“Will you marry me?” He brought her left hand to his lips and waited for her answer.
Brianna nodded. Tears spilled down her cheeks.
John slipped the ring on her finger. He pulled her onto his lap. Brianna threw her arms around his neck and met his lips with a forever kind of kiss.
