No wonder Harold’s gotten so thin, Lela, I scorn, casting aside the weight of onus when I imagine preparing her husband—her husband in law only—a proper, flavorful meal. How, when he finally divorces her, we will sit in the same chair, tickling each other’s faces and hands, discussing the politics she has barred from dinnertime conversation. We will feast on real meats, cheeses, and wine sauces, feed each other desserts. We will kiss in the open and speak without thought.
We will be rich where she has created deficits. We will be fanatical where she has left indifference.
Imprisoner, I deride, staring at her, biting my tongue as fruitless as summertime sadness.
