About Single Daddy In The Club…

Hunter James is back in town, this time as a single dad…

My single parent group is the last place in the world I expect to bump into the man who broke my heart.

The problem is Hunter James is not just any man. He’s tall, dark, and as hot as sin. I need to go to church and pray that he’ll keep away from me.

His irresponsible, one-night stand has left him with a little girl, and for some reason, he thinks that it’s my problem.

  I should laugh at him.

  He deserves it.

But he charms the group into letting him join and now I’m stuck looking into his blue eyes. He turns my parenting group into a dating one as he invites all his single friends to join. The last thing they need is another man in their lives. It’s a shame that I’m the only one who sees that. They turn up to the meeting and leave one-by-one.

Leaving me alone with Hunter James and he’s not trying to get some single parenting advice.

  No.

Hunter James has something much dirtier in mind!

  Author's Note:

It's short and steamy with enough sexiness for you to enjoy this novella. It is standalone, and there's no cheating!

Single Daddy In The Club is a 25,000 word novella, suitable for mature readers that love to read a bit of filth with a twist of comedy.

  Chapter One

  Hunter

She’d been so fucking hard to find. Talk about disappearing and then coming back to the place where it all started. I knew the moment that I saw Nia’s name on the register that she would be the one heading up the group.

Back in high school, she was the independent one. The one that I said was getting in the way of my game. She was supposed to say that things could work and that she loved me. She never did. She just kissed me on the cheek and wished me luck.

  Just like that.

That was when I knew that I had to get out of the relationship. She didn’t think about me the same way that I thought about her. That was evident.

I’d spent the last four years hoping that she’d change her mind, but she never did.

I loved Nia back then, and I still feel the same way about her now. It’s as if she hasn’t aged at all. The same long blonde hair, perfectly cut and her hips, shit they used to grind me all night, and I never wanted her to stop. Now she’s just like a fine wine. Matured and in control.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” She blurted out as soon as she saw my face.

“I came to join the club. Single parent’s club.”

  She shook her head vigorously.

“Hi. Hunter, How are you? Long time no see.” That was the greeting I was expecting; not the unwelcome one that I received.

“It’s a single mom’s club. No men allowed!”

“I didn’t see the flyer saying only women. In fact, that’s sexist. I could sue you for discrimination.”

She waved a finger at me; the one that I’d loved to suck and says, “Look if this is some game…”

But then she was cut short by this slim little Hispanic woman who had lust written all over her face. “He’s right. It doesn’t say, ‘single moms.’ It says, ‘single parents.’ Hi, my name’s…” she was just about to introduce herself, but Hayley cuts her short. She was mad and fucking crazy.

  How did I know?

Because she was waving her finger and tapping her left foot at the same time. Damn, some things never changed. That was the same thing that she used to do back in high school.

“We couldn’t discriminate, but it was clear from the word go, that this club was only for single moms.”

I brushed past her, trying to get through the damn door. “Ladies, do you mind if I join?”

There was a wave of silence and then a chorus of, “No.”

Before they could even finish telling me all the reasons that I can stay, and even join, Hayley was at it again.

“I’m the founder of this club. The owner. The one that does the memberships and I say no.”

The Hispanic lady moved to my side and got so close that she could easily be a second skin.

“Well, this is a democratic society, and I think that you're a bit sexist. We could do with some fresh blood.”

I wondered if she means for the club or bedroom?

Either way, I was in, and there was nothing she could do about it. The victory is mine for the taking.

“Besides at my daughter’s school, there’s some single dads in there too. I could ask them to join. You know, to make up the numbers,” I’m addressing the question to the crowd, and I can tell that it’s working well.

“You guys sound as if you know each other. Why would you turn your friend away?” a brunette stood up and her question was directed at Nia.

Nia ignored her question, which was weird because she always had an answer for everything. Maybe she’d changed, just a little bit.

The crowd cheered and encouraged me to invite some of my single-dad friends. I smiled and used my charm, which I knew worked every single time. Because, as usual, I got exactly what I wanted. There was just one problem, I had no single-dad friends, but I knew tomorrow at the school gates, I would find them. How hard could it be?

“Don’t even think this means that you have a chance with me again! We’re over. You got it?”

I nodded slyly because she misunderstood. I’m not joining to be part of the group.

I was joining to be more than her friend.

I wanted to take up where we left off, and one thing was for sure -- I always got what I wanted. This time I wasn’t taking no for an answer to her coming back to me.

  Chapter Two

  Nia

I couldn’t move, thinking that he hadn’t changed, he was still the same arrogant jerk back from high school. A dangerous combination. Why did he still irritate me now as much as he did back then?

I loved him back in high school, pined for him after we graduated and then it all went wrong, I pushed him away and no matter what I couldn't take it back.

So, I did whatever anyone else would do on the rebound. I went and dated the safe option. The one that wouldn't reject me. Would forgive me for my one mistake and love me for who I am.

I had it completely wrong. We got married, but the moment I was pregnant, he just left. He said that our relationship was moving too quickly.

  We were married!

The safe option turned out to be t
he worst choice.

Now, Hunter’s back with a child as a single daddy. I did see the in the press about a girl leaving her baby at the hospital after giving birth with a note saying that the baby was his. She disappeared in the middle of the night.

It was if time stood still for him; those same piercing eyes were just glaring at me. He smiled as soon as he saw that I was irritated. And as for that magnetism of his smile was still there. I hate him. No, I hate myself more for getting upset at his presence.

“Nia, stop winding yourself up. We’ve got some fresh blood in the group. You said that we needed it,” Marta’s eyes were firmly fixed on his butt as he left the hall.

I thought that since he wasn’t playing football anymore, that he would be all fat and ugly. Especially being a full-time dad. He gave up the sport to take care of her. It was admirable and annoying at the same time. If it was any other guy I would chase after him.

  But it wasn't.

  This was Hunter.

When I did the most stupid thing in the world; he said that he forgave me. But, he never did. Not really.

  “We don’t need that blood.”

She laughed, “Chill, he said that he would bring friends.”

  “And?”

“Well, seeing as he still gets under your skin. Maybe one of his friends can cool you down. I wouldn’t say no to him.”

Tiana pitched in, “You wouldn’t say no to any man.”

Why are we still talking about Hunter?

“Why do you always have to be such a bitch?” Marta snarled as she walked away. She had a point, Tiana did have a way of winding everyone up.

“She just can’t take it cause she had five babies, with five different men!”

I looked at her, thinking that she was from a different planet. One that didn’t need to be in this group. We weren’t here to judge, Marta loved men. No, Marta loved sex and she must be the most fertile woman on the planet. She explained it to the group that she’d used condoms the first time, diaphragm the second, a coil the third and I lost count after that. The safest sex for her is no sex!

She put her hand on her hips and said, “If I ever dated a man outside my race," Tiana pointed at where Hunter had just left, "He would be the lucky guy.”

Her comment annoyed me, which was another reason that the other members complained about her. She thought that she was better than everyone.

“Tiana,” I hesitated as I saw Marta leaving. “Why do you behave like such a bitch?”

  “What you just call me?”

“You heard me. What you said to Marta was out of order. We’re not here to judge. The aim of the group was to support each other and no matter what you think about Marta. Her kids are one of the most well-behaved ones in the group.”

I could have said, compared to hers, who are by two different dads, but I wasn’t in the mood to be bitchy. I just needed her to lighten up and stop being so judgmental. But, the more I talked to her about it. I decided that you couldn't get a leopard to change its spots. I had a feeling that I couldn't do the same with Tiana.

  “None of mine ran off.”

“Yes, they’re both dead. We know that.”

What’s the likelihood of two men, both being in tragic accidents in the same year? Next to none. But that was the story that she wanted to tell everyone, and I didn't want to get in the way of her fantasy.

“Besides, underneath all this,” she waved her hand from head to toe. I looked at the excess make-up, the weave, the little dress squeezed on the oversized body, and I didn’t want to know what was underneath all that.

“Underneath it all, I’m sensitive. I’m still dealing with the tragic loss of the two loves of my life.”

This was a pointless discussion; I needed to go to Plan B, which was to dismiss her ass. Everyone was whispering about two things this evening.

Number one on the list: Tiana was still coming to the meeting, and number two, was about Hunter and his friends.

Earlier, I had told them, by sending a message via WhatsApp group when she arrived at the hall.

  Just one more try!

The Whatsapp group is called, Tiana Out, and it was created by Marta. It had every member of the club, apart from Tiana. She doesn’t even know it exists.

“Look I understand that you need to be loved and it's been a while since you’ve been with a man. You just need to let loose. That’s all.”

She patted me on the arm as she left and repeated the word, “Chill!”

I didn’t even put on a fake smile as I looked at my phone. The group had been updated, and a few members had written about her.

If she turns up to the next meeting, then I’m out!

  Me too!

  Me three!

Everyone was on my case about Tiana. Hunter had distracted them during the meeting, but there was no way that I was going to allow him to pull the wool over their eyes. Hunter had an agenda. He did back in high school, and I knew that he did right now. This time, I was the one that was going to win. I wasn’t going to let him back into my life. No matter how hard he tried.

  Chapter Three

  Hunter

First thing Monday morning, I was ready to do some work at home. Thank goodness I own the damn company, and I didn't need to go to the office. My top priority was to get some single dads to join the group.

I was at the kindergarten early as I dropped Gia off. I was just in time to catch some of the guys. I knew that there were a couple that dropped their kids off at about the same time as I did and I was ready and waiting for them. I even spent last night photocopying her brochures. But I got rid of the pink. Also, I got rid of the breastfeeding and some other things that were more related to women and put more guys’ stuff. The things that we could relate to. Reasons that a few guys would want to sign-up.

  “Hi, My name’s Hunter James, and there’s a single’s group…”

I didn’t want to encourage him by making him think that this was a woman’s group so that he could hook up with a chick. But then I didn’t want to make it boring so that he wouldn’t be interested in joining.

  “Are there loads of women?”

I hesitated in replying, because that wasn’t the reason that I was inviting him. I didn’t want a bunch of guys coming, willing to check out some single moms. I wanted to prove Nia wrong. That there were some guys in town that were struggling as a single parent. Her speech made me want to make sure that this plan was foolproof and so far I was wondering if I had taken on more than I could chew.

“What’s this, hun?” a woman asked as she took the flyer out of his hand.

“It says a group for single parents, with evenings out and babysitting services. Damn, I could do with one of those. Okay, so it’s on a Friday night. Not great, but I can try and make it.”

I blurted out, “It’s only for single parents. I thought that he was single.”

She laughed and then she handed it back to me, and he looked at me with a frown. Looks as if he wanted to be single.

An elderly lady walked up to me with glasses and tapped me on the arm, “Did you say that there’s a single group?”

I nodded, “Yes, you know for single parents so that we can all support each other, but..”

Before I could even say another word, she blurted out, as she looked out into the distance as if she was thinking about something. “Are there women there?”

  “Yes, so far there’s..”

  “And they’re looking for men.”

I nodded again because there was no point trying to say something.

“I’ve got a couple of men that would be perfect to join the group.”

  Now, she’s got my attention.

“One’s my son, and the other’s my husband.”

She nodded and then started to walk away. I was confused until another couple of guys heard the conversation and said that they were willing to join.

One of them was a retired sportsman like me, but unlike him, I never had a knee injury. My plan w
as coming together even though I suspected that some, like the first guy, already had a wife, and he was planning to join the group, to find a bit on the side. If I found out the truth that he was already attached, Nia wouldn’t need to kick him out. I would do the deed. Either way, I was happy that the guys were talking about spreading the word.

“We’ll be there, Hunter.” Those were the reassuring words that I needed to hear. Nia wouldn’t kick me out if there were a few guys going through the same struggles. She would have to let them in. Maybe I should take them out for a drink? So that I could get to know them better before the first meeting. I would if I had time, which I didn't after spending the weekend doing the damn flyers instead of concentrating on work.

Either way, my plan was coming together, and I couldn’t be happier.

  ***

  “Hey, mom, what’s up?”

She’d been my rock with looking after Gia. I didn’t know what I would have done if she hadn’t offered to help.

“You’ve got that smile on your face. The one that means you’re up to something.”

Mom knew me too well; there was no putting anything past her. It was a shame she didn’t think that way when dad ran off with his secretary. She didn’t see that signs that it was happening, but then again neither did I.

  “I saw Nia today.”

All of a sudden her smile disappeared.

  “Mom, don’t look like that.”

“Well, you know how I felt about that woman whenever you cried when you broke up for two seconds. Even though you claimed that she was the love of your life, you weren’t crying for that long.”

I relied on my mom to help me out with Gia. I talked to her about certain things, but not everything. That used to be what I did with dad until he walked out on her. There was a thin line between the relationship between a mother and her son which she always managed to cross it whenever it came to the topic of Nia.
